“This test is to assess your innate talent and aptitude!”
Some disciples of the Taichu Sect had already recognized that the elder standing on the high platform, with white hair and beard, dressed in a blue Daoist robe and exuding an air of immortality, was actually Elder Leaf. This Elder Leaf was the martial uncle of the sect leader Elder Howard, held a very high status in the Taichu Sect, and spent most of his time in seclusion, rarely appearing in public.
He appeared together with the sect leader Elder Howard, as well as many elders in the stands, showing just how much importance they attached to this final test.
Elder Leaf said, “Immortal seeds are divided by strength into colored and colorless types. Colorless immortal seeds are further divided into full and not full, while colored immortal seeds come in seven colors: gray, brown, blue, orange, red, gold, and purple.”
After explaining the grades of immortal seeds, Elder Leaf paused and said, “After the test, regardless of the strength of your immortal seed, I hope none of you will become arrogant or discouraged. The ultimate achievement of an immortal cultivator cannot be determined solely by innate aptitude; hard work can make up for what you lack at birth!”
The test began. As Elder Leaf called out names, dozens of new disciples were tested in succession, but all turned out to be weak, colorless, and not full seeds.
The senior members of the sect remained calm; even if all the new disciples were weak seeds, it was normal. Strong colored seeds were rare and could not be sought after. As long as there were one or two full colorless immortal seeds among these two hundred disciples, it would be considered good.
“Next, Ryan Bolton from Datian Town!”
Ryan Bolton stepped onto the testing platform and placed his hand on the [Mirror of Immortal Insight].
As Elder Leaf infused a stream of immortal energy, the [Mirror of Immortal Insight] immediately flashed with a gray light.
“Gray seed!”
Elder Howard suddenly stood up, his eyes shining with disbelief, and the stern expression on his face could not hide his inner joy. A gray seed! This was a gray seed! In a hundred years of the sect’s history, among all the disciples recruited, there might not even be one as excellent as a gray immortal seed!
With just this one gray seed, the Taichu Sect would have no worries for the next two hundred years, or even longer. As long as he could grow, he might even become the next sect leader of the Taichu Sect! The current sect leader, when tested for his immortal seed, was also a gray seed!
Perhaps individual immortal fate would differ greatly in the future, but this gray seed would definitely become a pillar of the Taichu Sect!
The elders in the stands stood up excitedly. While their faces were filled with joy, excitement, and shock, there was also a hint of rivalry in their eyes.
Who wouldn’t want to take such an outstanding gray seed as their disciple? In the future, their own branch might well become the ruling line of the Taichu Sect.
“Uncle Howard, our Grant Hall branch hasn’t taken in any disciples for a long time. I think that child named Ryan Bolton down there has a fated connection with our Grant Hall. Why don’t you, Uncle Howard, make the decision that after the seedling period, he joins our Grant Hall branch?”
The other elders all turned their attention to the chubby Daoist who had spoken. This Daoist wasn’t very tall, was plump, and wore a kindly smile. His goatee quivered as he spoke, giving him quite an air of immortal elegance.
Sensing the others’ gazes, the chubby Daoist smiled slightly and cupped his hands to the others. “Senior brothers, junior brothers, and junior sisters, you’re all looking at me like this—do you all agree? Then Adam Grant thanks you all here…”
“Adam Grant, I’ve never heard that you’re skilled in physiognomy or divination. How do you know this child is fated with you? In my view, this child is actually fated to be a disciple of our Grant Hall. In our Taichu Sect, our Grant Hall’s Six-Yao Divination is second to none.”
Adam Grant rolled his chubby eyes and looked toward the speaker, a skinny Daoist in a purple robe who looked more like a red envelope than an immortal cultivator. “Senior brother Adam Grant, in the past ten years, every time someone joins the sect, you snatch them up. Five years ago, you even took away the full immortal seed Eric Reed. You can’t have all the good seedlings go to your Grant Hall, can you?”
“I agree with Adam Grant… Your Grant Hall already has plenty of good seedlings. If you get any more, it would be unjust!”
A scholar-like Daoist with an extraordinary air, Ethan Green, quickly spoke up, “Uncle Sect Leader, Ancestor Luoye, our Green Hall has always been indifferent to worldly affairs. Our disciples are pure of heart and single-mindedly devoted to nurturing outstanding talents for the sect and carrying forward the glory of the Taichu Sect. This disciple Ryan Bolton has a remarkable spiritual root. If he could join our Green Hall, he would surely shine brilliantly!”
Adam Grant and Adam Grant rolled their eyes. Only now did they realize that Ethan Green, who usually acted aloof and above worldly affairs, was just putting on an act. Under the temptation of a gray immortal seed, he finally revealed his true colors.
“Ahem.” A clear, oriole-like female voice rang out, “Senior brothers, our Blossom Hall has always only accepted female disciples. The yin energy is too strong and lacks a bit of masculine vigor. I trust, with your broad-mindedness, you’ll let this Ryan Bolton join our Blossom Hall, right?”
Emily Reed’s Blossom Hall was unique in the Taichu Sect, with only female disciples under its banner. Other branches often thought about them, but accepting only women and not men was an unwritten rule of Blossom Hall. No one expected Emily Reed to want to make an exception.
“Not appropriate, not appropriate!” Adam Grant shook his head, pulling out a white jade bottle from his robe.
