Chapter 10

According to the previous plan, Old Newton brought Edward Lincoln's clothes and belongings. After Henry Lincoln dressed neatly, he looked in the mirror, but no matter how he looked, he didn't think he resembled Edward Lincoln.

"Is this okay?" Henry Lincoln looked at Old Newton uncertainly and asked.

"If you don't look at the face or listen to the voice, you and Fourth Master are at least eighty percent alike." As Old Newton spoke, he took out a bronze-colored mask shaped like a fierce demon and handed it to Henry Lincoln, continuing, "This mask is made from the alloyed bio-armored demon's material. Fourth Master used to wear it too, so it should be enough to get by."

Henry Lincoln took the mask. It was as thin as paper, but surprisingly heavy—about two jin—and extremely hard, feeling a bit cool to the touch.

He put the mask on his face. It felt a little heavy. Looking in the mirror, the demon's blue face and fanged features were truly frightening.

"Alright, as long as you don't speak, anyone who has seen this mask will probably take you for Fourth Master." Old Newton praised, then added, "But your voice is still a problem. Although your voice is somewhat similar to Fourth Master's, there are still differences. You need to pay extra attention and try to speak as little as possible. But you can't not speak at all—you know Fourth Master's temperament. If you don't say anything, it will only make people suspicious."

"Old Newton..." Henry Lincoln tried a few times, pinching his throat, and his voice gradually became different from usual.

"That's it... really close..." The more Old Newton listened, the more surprised and delighted he became. He hadn't expected Henry Lincoln to have such a skill; he now sounded ninety percent like Edward Lincoln.

"After all, we're real brothers, so our voices are naturally similar. Plus, there was a time when I liked going to karaoke, so I studied some vocal techniques. I can imitate some singers' voices pretty well." Henry Lincoln said with a smile.

"Fifth Brother, now it's really done. As long as you don't make a move, no outsider should be able to tell you're not Fourth Master." Old Newton grew even more cheerful as he spoke.

"Just call me Fourth Master." Henry Lincoln's eyes narrowed slightly. He knew his advantage was that he understood Fourth Brother very well. He wasn't good at acting, so he could only immerse himself in the role—every action, every word, he had to think: if it were Fourth Brother, what would he do, what would he say?

Old Newton was stunned at first, then solemnly bowed to Henry Lincoln, saying repeatedly, "Fourth Master, I was wrong. You are Fourth Master."

"Let's go." Henry Lincoln took the lead and walked out.

Old Newton nodded slightly. He also knew that having Henry Lincoln impersonate Edward Lincoln was a last resort, extremely risky, but there was no other way.

There were bound to be flaws, but only by firmly believing he was the real one could those flaws be covered up.

"It's hard on Fifth Brother. I just hope Third Master and Fourth Master can return safely. Otherwise, even if Fifth Brother gets through this time, he can't keep up the act forever," Old Newton thought to himself.

When Henry Lincoln and Old Newton arrived at the venue, the representatives of the Qi and Wang families had already been there for a while, sitting on the stage and growing impatient. Only then did Henry Lincoln arrive with Old Newton, fashionably late.

This was something Henry Lincoln and Old Newton had decided in advance—to arrive just as the recruitment meeting was about to start. That way, the representatives of the Qi and Wang families wouldn't have much time to talk to Henry Lincoln, reducing the chance of exposing any flaws.

"Fifth Brother, just as we guessed, the Qi family's representative is Charles Quinn, and the Wang family's is David Warren. Their reputation and strength are both close to Fourth Master's, so be careful." Old Newton whispered so only the two of them could hear.

Henry Lincoln remained calm and said nothing, heading straight for the stage.

There were already two men seated on the stage. The one with a scholarly and refined air was Charles Quinn, while the other, a burly man with sharp, predatory eyes, was naturally David Warren.

Henry Lincoln took a deep breath, his gaze firm as he met their eyes, and walked up to the stage with a hint of arrogance.

He had thought that Charles Quinn and David Warren would surely question him about the mask, but to his surprise, when they saw him, they did stand up, but didn't speak to him. Instead, their eyes turned to look behind Henry Lincoln.

"What are they looking at?" Henry Lincoln couldn't help but turn around. When he did, his pupils contracted and he froze on the spot.

Old Newton also turned to look and saw someone slowly walking toward the stage. Although his expression didn't change, there was a subtle shift in his eyes.

For someone like Old Newton, who rarely showed emotion, even such a slight change in his eyes spoke volumes.

But with Charles Quinn and David Warren right there, he had no way to give Henry Lincoln any hint.

"Fourth Master, you don't mind if we invited this friend to observe, do you?" Charles Quinn smiled at Henry Lincoln as he spoke.

"Shuheng, that's not right of you. This person's presence is already a great honor for our Xuan Bird Base, making our recruitment meeting truly shine. Besides, she's an old friend of Fourth Master. Fourth Master should be thanking us, not minding at all, right?" As David Warren spoke, his gaze shifted to Henry Lincoln's face, a half-smile on his lips. "Fourth Master, don't you agree?"
