Chapter 15

“We don’t need to do anything. Now, let’s all spread out a bit and try to keep the air circulating here. Just wait until the people from the hospital come to treat him.”

“You’ve never seen someone’s life in danger and just sat around waiting instead of taking them to the hospital.” James Sutton muttered again, clearly dissatisfied, but he didn’t dare openly go against William Clark.

William Clark didn’t even glance at James Sutton. This guy had had some minor conflicts with William Clark in the past. Although nothing major ever happened, he’d always held a grudge, so their relationship had never been good. Now, William Clark naturally didn’t care at all, and he certainly wasn’t about to bother with someone so petty. He stood up and walked back to his seat.

Inside, though, he felt a bit amused and helpless. Even people sixteen years in the future wouldn’t all know how to properly handle a patient suddenly suffering a cerebral hemorrhage. It was just that William Clark had learned this skill during an unpleasant job experience.

Once, he’d gone to apply for a sales job, but the boss first had him take care of his sick father, who had previously suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. Before the care began, the boss had even given William Clark a crash course on the subject. So, William Clark was quite adept at handling such situations.

As for what would ultimately happen to Mr. Bolton, it would depend on how the rescue went. At the very least, he’d done everything he could. In his previous life, when Mr. Bolton died, he hadn’t been there. This time, he was by Mr. Bolton’s side and even tried to save him. This was also a test of whether, after being reborn, he could change fate.

As for James Sutton, who was still glaring at him with a look of defiance, William Clark had never cared for him, and now, with this new perspective, he cared even less.

In less than ten minutes, the ambulance arrived. The emergency personnel rushed into the classroom and, seeing Mr. Bolton lying flat on the ground, immediately began treatment.

When the doctors finished their work, Helen Carter couldn’t help but ask, “Doctor, how is Mr. Bolton?”

The doctor looked up at Helen Carter, momentarily distracted by the sight of such a pretty girl, then said, “Who handled the patient like this?”

Helen Carter’s heart skipped a beat, thinking something had gone wrong. Instinctively, she glanced at William Clark sitting in the back, while James Sutton pointed straight at William Clark, saying angrily, “It was him! I said we should have taken Mr. Bolton to the hospital sooner, but he wouldn’t let us. He just had Mr. Bolton lie here. Doctor, if anything happens, I’m willing to testify.”

The doctor glanced at James Sutton, who immediately felt a surge of secret delight. If something happened to William Clark, that would be perfect. That slap earlier had really hurt, and his face was still numb. He was eagerly hoping the doctor would scold William Clark.

But the doctor only gave James Sutton a brief look, then turned to William Clark and said, “Young man, thanks to you, we gained precious time for the rescue.”

“What?” James Sutton’s eyes widened, his mouth hanging open for a long time, feeling as if he’d just swallowed a fly. He’d completely misunderstood the situation. The doctor’s words were like a resounding slap in the face. The astonished looks from the surrounding classmates at William Clark felt like the ultimate mockery, making him seem so childish, so ridiculous. He wished he could crawl into a hole, his face turning green and white by turns—an indescribably spectacular sight.

Meanwhile, Helen Carter and several other classmates, while breathing a sigh of relief, also cast unusual glances at William Clark.

Chapter 011: Family Bonds

After saying this, the doctor hurriedly carried Mr. Bolton out. For a patient with a cerebral hemorrhage, rescue had to be timely. The question he’d asked earlier was just out of professional curiosity—after all, in this era, very few people could handle a sudden cerebral hemorrhage so correctly, especially in a school, surrounded only by second-year high school students.

Helen Carter and Emily Thompson immediately followed, as did several others. High school students were still very warm-hearted, especially since the patient was their teacher. They all wanted to go to the hospital to see if Mr. Bolton could pull through.

James Sutton hesitated for a moment, then quickly followed as well. But before leaving, he shot a glance at William Clark, his eyes flashing with jealousy and resentment.

William Clark didn’t go with them. He’d already done all he could, and waiting outside the emergency room with them was pointless. It was a good opportunity to enjoy some peace and quietly think about his own “future.”

He’d been reborn. Although he was still living in the same era, William Clark knew very well that he would never walk the same old path again. His changes would certainly change many things. This was the so-called butterfly effect. Take Mr. Bolton, for example: before his rebirth, a sudden cerebral hemorrhage had taken his life. But because of William Clark’s intervention, his life should at least be saved this time. That was a major change.

Thinking of Mr. Bolton, William Clark’s heart suddenly skipped a beat, as if it was about to leap out of his chest. A strong emotion surged up from within, and his lips began to tremble violently.
