Chapter 6

William Carter's divine sense slowly extended outward, carefully probing every corner of the room. Sure enough, at Olivia Carter's bedside, there was an immortal spirit flower placed.

This little girl really used every trick in the book to guard against William Carter, and when it came to her little brother, she never held back her magic.

William Carter certainly lived up to her high expectations—no matter what kind of magic he was hit with, he could always bounce back and swagger in front of Olivia Carter, which was quite a blow to the always-proud Olivia Carter.

However, every time William Carter and Olivia Carter met, Olivia Carter never showed any mercy. The two seemed like natural rivals: one racking their brains, the other always standing strong, like an indestructible cockroach.

"Fine, fine, since you've found out, I'll just leave."

As William Carter spoke, he turned to go, acting as if nothing had happened. This made Olivia Carter anxious—this was her hard-earned victory, how could she let William Carter just walk away? She immediately rushed in front of William Carter.

"Don't go! I'm going to take you to Dad and make you confess."

"Dad's already asleep. Let's do it tomorrow..." William Carter's eyes darted around slyly, and with a quick move, he was about to step out of the room.

"No way! I want to take you to see Dad right now," Olivia Carter insisted with a snort.

William Carter paid no attention to Olivia Carter, already stepping over the threshold and making a quick escape. A cold glint flashed in Olivia Carter's eyes as she snorted, "Prismatic Ice Burst!"

A terrifying wave of magical power instantly erupted from Olivia Carter, her arms pointing at William Carter's back, a pale blue magic circle appearing between her palms.

William Carter came to a sudden stop, only to see three fist-sized ice crystals suddenly appear in front of him, each radiating a chilling aura.

In the next instant, the three ice crystals exploded, sending countless ice spikes shooting in all directions. William Carter was startled, tumbling and crawling to narrowly dodge the barrage.

"Fourth Sis, are you trying to kill me..."

"Hmph... If these could kill you, you'd have died hundreds of times already!" Olivia Carter was unmoved, though she was a bit surprised inside. William Carter, despite his seemingly desperate escape, actually managed to dodge such a dense barrage of ice spikes. After all, she had chosen this spell specifically to stop William Carter.

Olivia Carter was only eight years old, but she was already a second-tier, ninth-grade super magic prodigy. At her rate of progress, she would reach the third tier in less than a year.

However, with her current magical power, she couldn't cast a second Prismatic Ice Burst. Gritting her teeth, she took off after William Carter.

Was William Carter that easy to catch?

Even when Olivia Carter used her best magic, she couldn't keep William Carter in place, let alone without using magic.

William Carter was like a rabbit—able to hop, jump, run, and dart around. Olivia Carter chased him from her own little courtyard through more than half of the Fang residence, but in the end, she still lost track of William Carter.

Olivia Carter was already so tired her little face was flushed red, her chest heaving. Even though she could no longer see any sign of William Carter, the hatred in her eyes didn't diminish: "Just you wait until tomorrow!"

Fuming, Olivia Carter returned to her room, but immediately sensed something was off and quickly walked to her bedside.

The bedside was a mess, clearly having been rummaged through. Olivia Carter's expression instantly darkened.

Above the Fang household, an angry shriek suddenly rang out: "Fifth! I will never forgive you!"

Olivia Carter never expected that William Carter would double back—he had deliberately lured her out earlier, no wonder she always felt she was about to catch him.

William Carter, beaming with excitement, was hugging a flowerpot almost half his size. In the moonlight, the immortal spirit flower looked especially delicate and beautiful.

After running for a while, William Carter felt safe. With a quick grab, he plucked the entire immortal spirit flower without a hint of pity, then opened his mouth and stuffed it in.

If this immortal spirit flower were used for alchemy, the effect would obviously be much better. But with William Carter's current abilities, he couldn't even talk about alchemy—he didn't even have a cauldron—so he might as well just eat it directly.

Immediately, he felt a surge of heat in his lower abdomen. William Carter knew this was the immortal energy from the flower being released.

As the saying goes, the more vibrant the flower, the more dangerous it is. The immortal spirit flower was no exception, though it wasn't poisonous, but rather a powerful tonic. Most people couldn't withstand the impact of such immortal energy.

Even William Carter didn't dare be careless. He found a secluded corner in a remote courtyard, first set up a concealment array, then immediately sat down cross-legged to refine the immortal energy.

He couldn't go back to his own little courtyard—who knew if that little girl was waiting there to catch him red-handed.

After more than a year of cultivation, William Carter's own cultivation had made some progress. Although he was still at the early stage of Qi Gathering, his immortal energy was already quite abundant, enough for William Carter to use some basic immortal arts to resist Olivia Carter's magic.

If William Carter's current immortal energy was a 10, then the immortal energy contained in the immortal spirit flower would be 100. As long as he refined a tenth of it, William Carter could advance to the mid-stage of Qi Gathering.

If this immortal energy wasn't absorbed quickly, it would gradually dissipate over time. In less than two years, this energy would either be absorbed by William Carter or mostly lost.

However, even if William Carter absorbed it day and night, he still couldn't fully absorb it within two years. Half of the immortal energy in this flower was destined to be lost.

William Carter's body was faintly glowing, like the light of fireflies—this was the immortal energy leaking out.
