Chapter 19

Olivia Carter’s eyes immediately widened when she saw the Extreme Spirit Cold Pearl. The spiritual connection formed between her and the pearl made her feel an indescribable closeness, as if it were a part of her own body.

Olivia Carter’s very soul was drawn in by the blue, ghostly glow. Her gaze was utterly captivated, unable to look away, as she slowly cupped the Extreme Spirit Cold Pearl in her hands.

This sensation could only be felt by Olivia Carter. If it were anyone else, at most they would find it beautiful, but they would not experience what Olivia Carter was feeling at this moment.

“Are you satisfied or not…” William Carter said with a smile, looking at Olivia Carter teasingly.

Olivia Carter shot William Carter a fierce glare, then withdrew her gaze and focused back on the Extreme Spirit Cold Pearl. “I’ll let you off this time!”

“If you’re satisfied, then let me go. How long are you planning to pin me down?” William Carter rolled his eyes at Olivia Carter. It was all written on her face, yet she still pretended to be nonchalant.

The next day, Mr. Night came to see William Carter again. He was no longer as anxious as he had been a few days ago, because he had discovered that the changes in his battle energy not only hadn’t brought any harm, but had actually brought endless benefits.

If there was any real downside, it was that in the past, old ailments plagued him and made it hard to sleep, but now he was so energetic that he found it difficult to fall asleep.

This left Mr. Night both amused and exasperated. It seemed the heavens were determined not to let him sleep. However, his gratitude and respect for William Carter only grew deeper.

“Mr. Night, I still haven’t figured it out. Why are you here again today?” William Carter welcomed Mr. Night into the room, looking at him helplessly.

“Young Master Yun, I just wanted to tell you that you really don’t need to worry too much about my health. The biggest problem has already been solved. As for this remaining minor issue, it’s not worth stressing over, and it’s not even a bad thing for me.” Mr. Night said with concern.

“Mr. Night, aside from the increased endurance of your battle energy, has anything else changed?” William Carter hadn’t given up. Studying Mr. Night’s changes wasn’t just for Mr. Night’s sake, but for his own.

William Carter’s medical skills didn’t come out of nowhere. It was precisely because of countless unsolved mysteries like Mr. Night that William Carter was able to unravel them one by one and achieve what others could not.

If he simply let unsolved mysteries go, then William Carter’s medical skills would forever stagnate.

There were many cases in this world that William Carter had never seen or heard of. He would never be satisfied with the status quo; only his thirst for knowledge could give him enough motivation.

Mr. Night looked into William Carter’s eyes. He understood that William Carter would not give up so easily. He seemed to see the same look in the eyes of the heads of the Fang family throughout the generations—steadfast and resolute.

Mr. Night pondered for a moment, then frowned at William Carter: “I’m not sure if this counts as a change…”

Mr. Night paused, then continued, “Now, the formula you gave me will pop into my head on its own, and every time it does, my battle energy will circulate accordingly. Sometimes, even if I don’t consciously recall it, when I start circulating my battle energy, it will automatically follow the formula.”

“So you’re saying that when you use your battle energy, the formula runs automatically?” William Carter’s eyes widened as he immediately pressed for more details.

“Yes… I thought it was just a feature of your formula, Young Master Yun… That’s why I didn’t mention it the other day…” Mr. Night scratched his head awkwardly. Every time he was with William Carter, he felt completely at ease.

In his eyes, there was no distinction between master and servant. William Carter was more like his grandson, and William Carter’s intelligence always left him in awe.

“The formula I gave you doesn’t have such a miraculous effect.” William Carter shook his head.

There really were cultivation techniques in this world that could operate automatically, but such techniques weren’t necessarily the best. Automatic operation often meant sacrificing something, such as cultivation speed, which might not be as effective as active cultivation.

However, he hadn’t expected that the formula he gave for refining immortal energy would actually run automatically in Mr. Night’s body.

If that was the case, the only explanation was instinct. The formula William Carter gave Mr. Night didn’t have the effect of automatic operation. The results might vary from person to person, but the formula itself wouldn’t mutate just because the energy was different.

It was possible that, because William Carter had cured his old ailments and the formula was so effective, Mr. Night had subconsciously engraved the formula in his mind, so that when he circulated his battle energy, he instinctively followed the formula.

“Mr. Night, try using your battle energy now.” William Carter said seriously.

Mr. Night nodded, stretched out his hand, and opened his palm. A ball of black flame immediately shot out from his palm, resting in his hand, making a whooshing sound and radiating intense heat.

Now, when Mr. Night used his battle energy, there was no pain at all. On the contrary, his body felt incredibly comfortable.

A gentle breeze blew by, making the door creak. William Carter was startled—where did this wind come from inside the room?

“Wait, there’s spiritual energy from heaven and earth in this wind!” William Carter’s divine sense immediately detected something unusual. This wind carried a dense spiritual energy, clearly drawn in by something.

Although spiritual energy exists in the air, and all things in the world contain it, the concentration varies. Only certain special places or terrains gather a higher density of spiritual energy.

For example, William Carter’s small courtyard had a spirit-gathering array carved into it, so the spiritual energy was denser there. In other places, it was much thinner. Normally, the ratio wouldn’t exceed 100:1.
