Attack interval refers to the frequency at which a weapon is swung for a normal attack. Daggers have the shortest attack interval, followed by one-handed and ranged weapons, while two-handed weapons are the slowest.
White-quality equipment is also called “whiteboard gear.” Other than providing armor, it offers no additional bonuses, and the attack power of such weapons is extremely weak. One level above whiteboard gear is black iron equipment, followed by bronze, silver, gold, purple gold, mystic spirit, phantom spirit, earth saint, heaven saint, and divine equipment—these nine tiers exist to satisfy players’ desire to become “stronger.”
David Bolton’s specific attributes are as follows:
【Player: Brian Grant】
Level: 0
HP: 50/50
Rage: 0/100
Armor: 2
Stamina: 0
Strength: 4
Agility: 1
Intelligence: 0
Spirit: 0
Luck: 0
Melee Damage: 5–8
Attack Interval: 2 seconds
Ranged Damage: None
Stamina, Strength, Agility, Intelligence, and Spirit are the five basic attributes of a character, among which—
Stamina: Increases the character’s HP; each point of stamina raises the HP cap by ten.
Strength: Increases the character’s physical damage; every two points of strength increase DPS by one.
Agility: Increases the character’s movement speed and physical critical hit chance. For rogues and hunters, agility also increases skill damage.
Intelligence: Increases the character’s spell damage, mana cap, and spell critical chance. Each point of intelligence increases spell damage by one and mana cap by ten.
Spirit: Reduces casting time and speeds up mana regeneration.
Luck is a special attribute that cannot be increased through equipment. It is only awarded by the system after completing certain main quests or high-difficulty hidden quests. This attribute has many uses, such as giving the player a chance to deal triple damage, known as a lucky strike.
Every newly created character has a total of five points distributed among the five basic attributes. Since warriors don’t need spirit or intelligence, those two attributes are set to zero, and the points are allocated to strength and agility.
Rage is a resource unique to the warrior class. When out of combat, a warrior’s rage is 0. Once in combat, the warrior gains one rage point per second. Normal attacks grant a certain amount of rage based on damage and character level, while using skills generally consumes rage, which is called venting rage.
Chapter Four: “Miracle” Begins
“Ding!”
A clear chime sounded, signaling the official launch of the server. David Bolton felt a flash before his eyes and found himself in an ancient-style village square.
In that brief instant, one player after another was refreshed by the system right next to David Bolton, and the square was instantly packed! Because there were so many people, those who spawned first were actually squeezed aside by the players who spawned later!
This was the world’s first virtual imaging online game. Every player who entered the game was utterly shocked by the incredibly realistic environment around them, momentarily forgetting to move.
“Damn, this game really is just like the real thing!”
“Hey, don’t block me, let me out!”
“What’s the rush, are you in a hurry to reincarnate?”
“Bastard, where are you putting your hands? Do you think you can take advantage of me just like that?”
“Hey, lady, with your looks, even if you let me touch you, I’d be scared!”
“Then why are your hands still on my chest?”
“Heh, it’s too crowded, there’s nowhere else to put my hands!”
“Shit, I can’t stand you two perverts, I’m going back to take care of myself!”
“……”
After a while, the players finally snapped out of it, and the chatter became chaotic. Experienced veterans or those who had read the game introduction hurried to find NPCs for quests, while even more people swarmed out of the village, rushing to kill monsters. The massive leveling army swept through like a plague of locusts—usually, as soon as a monster spawned, it was attacked by a dozen players at once, pitifully collapsing and turning into a pile of experience.
It wasn’t until about ten minutes later that the flow of new players spawning at the starting point slowed down, stabilizing at about one per minute. Judging by the hot sales of the game helmet, Dream Group knew just how many players would flood the servers at launch! Therefore, the newbie village was also opened in the form of tens of thousands of instances to divert players and avoid the situation where there were no monsters to fight. Each newbie village instance held about five thousand people.
David Bolton left the spawn point at the very first moment. As a reborn person, he certainly wouldn’t follow the usual questing path like other players. He had already planned his leveling route before entering the game.
While running toward the village entrance, David Bolton opened the skill list to check the skills he currently possessed.
Shielded warriors start with two skills: Charge and Power Strike.
【Charge】: Rush rapidly toward the target, stunning the target for two seconds and generating 10 rage points. Cooldown: 30 seconds.
【Power Strike】 (Level 1): Instantly launch a powerful strike at the target, dealing 100% melee damage and having a 5% chance to trigger an extra attack. Cost: 30 rage. Cooldown: 1 second. Requirement: Melee weapon.
