Chapter 16

So, he replied irritably, “What’s so special about that? Do you know how I eat top-grade snow beef sashimi? At sunrise, when the first rays of dawn appear, I chase cattle across the Hulunbuir grasslands and gnaw on them— that’s when the beef is at its most tender!”

Henry Grant was instantly dumbfounded, and David Miller was left speechless as well.

“Ha ha...”

The door to the room was pushed open, and a group of people walked in, all laughing.

“Fresh, that’s definitely the freshest way to eat it. When I get back to Newstar, I’ll give it a try too!” Even the usually aloof Jason Clark was laughing.

Henry Grant immediately understood what was going on. This group didn’t trust him and were all keeping an eye on him, afraid he’d cause trouble.

He was rather displeased and said, “Am I really that unreliable? How could I possibly cause trouble for David Miller? Besides, if I challenged him at this stage, I’d just get beaten up— I’m no match for him. Since we’re parting ways, I specially had rare ingredients prepared, all highly nourishing. I know he’s obsessed with practicing the old arts, and these things are good for his body.”

“I can vouch for that. Henry Grant really did put some thought into it and wanted to make peace with David Miller before leaving,” said Grace Cooper.

David Miller nodded. “I know. Come on, what’s past is past, it’s all behind us. I wish you a brilliant future and extraordinary achievements!”

He clinked glasses with Henry Grant, and Brian Carter came over, stuffed a few slices of beef into his mouth, and joined in the toast, saying, “It really does taste better than the beef from the Hulunbuir grasslands.”

The three of them clinked glasses and downed their drinks in one go.

“David Miller, you’re a good guy. Honestly, if it weren’t for both of us pursuing Ashley Reed back then, your personality would really suit me— we might have become good friends,” Henry Grant slurred.

“It’s not too late. We’re classmates, and we’re friends too,” said David Miller.

“Ashley Reed isn’t here yet. I think she’ll be a bit late,” Eric Turner quietly informed David Miller.

Not long after, David Miller and Henry Grant, arms around each other’s shoulders and reeking of alcohol, wandered out onto the lawn, immediately drawing glances from the crowd. The two of them... could actually get along?

Even these two had resolved their old grudges, and the atmosphere became much livelier. Everyone was raising glasses and switching drinks, getting a little tipsy.

Several classmates from Old Earth, who would soon be heading to Newstar, kept imagining what life would be like over there.

“What are your hopes and dreams?” someone asked, then shared his own wish.

“Once I’m settled over there, I definitely want to buy a villa like this one in a place with beautiful mountains and rivers. Hmm, I’ll buy somewhere a bit remote— the potential for appreciation is huge. The population on Newstar is bound to keep growing.”

David Miller smiled and said, “If you can think of it, chances are others have already acted on it. Whatever you like and long for...”

Just as he said this, Brian Carter cut in, “What I like and long for is to be alone with Olivia Scott...”

He was so eager to speak that David Miller’s words were instantly twisted: “Whatever place you like and long for is bound to already be bustling with people.”

Around them, a group of people gave David Miller strange looks.

He patted Brian Carter on the shoulder and said, “Why are you butting in like that?”

However, the surroundings remained quiet, and everyone was looking behind David Miller. He quickly realized and turned around, instantly seeing the stunning Olivia Scott.

Chapter 010: New Arts

Olivia Scott was tall, and tonight she wore a white dress cinched at the waist and ending above the knees, showing off her beautiful figure— graceful curves and long legs.

The night breeze blew, lifting a lock of her smooth, jet-black hair. Her fair, oval face was very beautiful— originally delicate and sweet, with a smile, but now... her smile had frozen.

The scene was silent; no one moved.

Dressed in white, even someone as experienced and emotionally intelligent as Olivia Scott was caught in a moment of stillness— which showed just how unusual the atmosphere was.

David Miller turned around and found himself standing face-to-face with her.

The maple trees on the mountain were blazing red, the scenery was beautiful, and the city lights below shone brilliantly. These looked like a painted backdrop, lending a tranquil beauty to the scene.

David Miller truly hadn’t expected Olivia Scott to appear so suddenly.

The main culprit was still Brian Carter’s interruption, which had completely changed the mood.

“You’re late— take a penalty drink,” David Miller said.

No one expected him to be so calm, not hesitating at all as he raised his glass and smiled at Olivia Scott in front of him.

Although Olivia Scott was usually composed and confident, often attending various events and used to big occasions, her body had indeed stiffened a little just now.

Now, she instinctively started to raise her glass of red wine, but quickly regained her composure.

Halfway through raising her glass, her smile returned, bright as ever, but she didn’t speak or clink glasses with David Miller. She wanted to see how he would react— if he could come up with something quick and clever.

At this moment, Brian Carter spoke up: “Qinghan, don’t misunderstand. Old Wang is a really decent guy— it was mainly me who spoke too hastily just now!”

The previously composed David Miller was no longer calm. He really wanted to say, Bro, do you even know how to talk? Why are you butting in again?!

The best way to handle this kind of thing was to move on quickly— there was nothing to explain. That’s why David Miller had kept a straight face just now, acting as if nothing had happened.
