Chapter 6

These incantations seemed to describe nature, especially the sensations of plants—a kind of ancient language that had existed since the world was created and changed along with nature itself.

Robert Miller naturally understood the meaning of these incantations, but also instinctively knew that he could only choose three of them for now, as that was all the power he currently possessed.

Nature Sense Level 1: The druid establishes a stable connection with nature.

Wild Affinity Level 1: The druid can, through nature sense, form a certain connection with animals and plants, perceiving their vague emotions.

Life Partner: You may choose an animal and perform a life bond, sharing power with each other.

Robert Miller quickly chose these three. Once he made his choice, the remaining natural power did not immediately dissipate, but gradually concentrated in his eyes.

In the past, when he had the Shennong Horn, he possessed the power of spirit vision and could see the spiritual radiance of plants.

Now, in an instant, his pupils felt as if they had been elevated to an incredible realm. Everything in his sight suddenly became so clear, so bright, that even the tiniest particles of spiritual light were visible in sharp detail.

He didn’t know how long he had been lying there; he only knew that, gradually, the natural power faded, everything became ordinary again, and the sensation in his eyes slowly diminished until it settled at a certain threshold.

Summoning in his heart, a faint, tiny point of light suddenly appeared before his eyes and rapidly enlarged, turning into a semi-transparent information box. The box, glowing softly, floated in his field of vision, and a large amount of data appeared before William Carter’s eyes.

“Permanent Solidification—Spirit Light Detection?” Robert Miller murmured as he read the last bit of information. He stood up; as long as he focused his gaze, he could see the spiritual radiance of plants.

But when he looked toward the sun, the intense white light made his eyes water instantly. Robert Miller chuckled, realizing his recklessness, and only felt better after closing his eyes for a moment.

Looking more closely, he noticed that his body was shrouded in a layer of green light, about one centimeter thick. Under the influence of this green light, the trees in the forest swayed gently and let out sighs tinged with joy.

“Heart of Nature! Heart of Nature!” A surge of ecstasy welled up from within. Robert Miller was startled, pondered for a moment, but realized this was the soul’s original unconscious instinct.

Searching his memory, he learned that this green aura was the Heart of Nature. When a druid comprehends nature, a layer of green light forms around them, allowing the druid to communicate with natural forces and grow stronger as they progress.

Upon further inspection, he found his memories were gone; after all, he was just a druid apprentice and didn’t know much. Nothing else could be retrieved, but the memories of the adventuring party from earlier had surfaced.

“Pah, they actually just left me here and ran off.” Robert Miller muttered, though he didn’t feel much hatred in his heart. Of course, he didn’t know what had happened while he was unconscious. “I need to hurry back to town—spending the night in the forest is no joke.”

With that thought, Robert Miller quickened his pace. Strangely, a faint, elusive feeling seemed to guide his way, leading him along the safest and shortest path toward the town.

After hurrying for some time, the sun gradually sank, and finally, before sunset, he arrived at the outskirts of the town.

This was a small town situated at the edge of the ocean and forest. A river wound its way through the town, bringing fresh water and stretching out to the distant sea.

Just five hundred meters from the town lay the dense forest.

Living by the mountains, one relies on the mountains; living by the water, one relies on the water; living by the forest, one relies on the forest. Naturally, there were several logging sites here, and the ground inside the workshops was piled high with massive logs.

Timber was the largest trade in Lika Town. Large quantities of wood and wood products were transported from here to the kingdom’s major port for export. However, logging was not without restrictions.

The druids living in the forest and the town would always impose some limits.

Because of the proximity to the forest, most of the buildings in town were wooden houses. There were only a few stone residences in the whole town, but the town wall was quite imposing, appearing before his eyes.

The town wall was four meters high and one and a half meters thick, built from giant logs and stone blocks. It wasn’t meant to be beautiful, only sturdy. Wild grass grew thickly in the cracks, and there were also guard towers.

It was almost time for the town gates to close. The sky had already begun to turn a dim, deep purple. There wasn’t much time left before the stars and moon would appear.

Robert Miller hurried to the town gate.

“Is that Robert Miller?” As he reached the gate, the town wall guard Scott Miller, an acquaintance, called out, “The camp will be closing soon. Why are you so late today?”

Robert Miller glanced at the sky and replied, “Ah, what a rotten day. I went into the forest with that group of adventurers, and we ended up getting separated.”

“Oh, that’s too dangerous. Hurry inside, the shift change is about to happen.”
