Chapter 7

Logan Brooks picked up some food while smiling and said, “I’ll have my subordinates help you inquire. If you can’t get the answers you want at the Sword Pavilion, perhaps you’ll gain something new when you return here.”

“Thank you, Master Brooks.” Upon hearing this, Evelyn Young stood up and bowed solemnly to Logan Brooks.

“No need to be so formal.” Logan Brooks tapped the edge of his plate with his chopsticks. “Aren’t you going to eat something?”

“Thank you, Master.” The young woman sat down again and began to eat.

However, the meal was rather silent.

The girl across from him was not much of a talker to begin with, and Logan Brooks was worried that saying too much might give something away.

After finishing the meal, Evelyn Young took her leave.

Logan Brooks watched her depart.

He gently tapped his jade pendant twice.

The gray-robed elder quickly appeared in the flower hall and bowed respectfully.

“Please instruct me, Master.”

“Tomorrow morning, after Evelyn Young leaves, follow her in secret. See what she does and who she interacts with.” Logan Brooks instructed calmly, “If there’s anyone besides people from the Sword Pavilion, pay special attention.”

The gray-robed elder replied respectfully, “Yes, Master.”

“If necessary, I’ll order you to bring her back.” Logan Brooks asked, “Can you do it?”

The words were somewhat ambiguous, but he maintained an inscrutable expression, face impassive and tone calm.

The gray-robed elder hesitated before replying, “Master, if she’s not inside the Sword Pavilion, I’m confident I can do it. If she is inside the Sword Pavilion…”

“If she’s in the Sword Pavilion, I’ll have someone else assist you.” Logan Brooks said lightly, “Before that, you need to confirm her background.”

“Your servant will strictly obey your orders.” The gray-robed elder bowed deeply.

After the other party withdrew, Logan Brooks also left the flower hall and strolled in the courtyard.

He held the jade pendant, curiosity rising.

This time, he took the initiative to tap the jade pendant three times.

After three long chimes, someone soon appeared before him.

But this time, it was different people.

This time, it was two middle-aged men.

They knelt on one knee.

“Subordinate of the Azure Dragon Hall, Quentin Green, greets the Master. Wishing the Master peace!”

“Subordinate of the Azure Dragon Hall, Leonard Drake, greets the Master. Wishing the Master peace!”

Logan Brooks looked at them expressionlessly.

Codenames as names?

Who are these heroes?

The internal structure and rules of the Demonic Sect couldn’t be described by that general “Annals of Shenzhou.”

Even the life history of the sect master provided by the black pot was just a glimpse.

Wait a minute…

Logan Brooks’s thoughts turned.

He seemed to speak casually, “No time like the present—let’s test you both today.”

The two in front of him looked a bit nervous and quickly said, “Please instruct us, Master.”

Logan Brooks first looked at Leonard Drake: “I won’t randomly quiz you on the sect’s rules and scriptures—just recite them directly.”

Leonard Drake was a bit surprised and somewhat alarmed, thinking he had violated some sect rule.

But the Demonic Sect was strict; since Logan Brooks showed no other reaction, Leonard Drake could only recite honestly.

Quentin Green at the side was also secretly uneasy.

Logan Brooks stood leisurely with his hands behind his back.

In fact, he was listening intently and memorizing carefully.

By the time Leonard Drake finished reciting, he was drenched in cold sweat.

Logan Brooks gave no comment, then turned to Quentin Green: “Your turn. State the rules of the Azure Dragon Hall.”

Quentin Green was nervous, wondering if he had crossed any lines, but braced himself and reported to his master.

Both of them were extremely tense.

Logan Brooks, on the other hand, secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

After Quentin Green finished, he asked calmly, “How are you both doing with your respective assignments?”

Quentin Green and Leonard Drake hurriedly reported.

Logan Brooks listened quietly, sorting out some clues.

The main headquarters of the Demonic Sect was located in the southern wilderness of Shenzhou.

That place was known to outsiders as the Demonic Domain.

In recent years, the Demonic Sect had been striving to enter the Central Plains, even aiming to dominate all of Shenzhou.

Within the sect, there were four main halls: Azure Dragon, Vermilion Bird, Black Tortoise, and White Tiger, which formed the core.

The Azure Dragon Hall, one of the four, was responsible for external campaigns. It was the vanguard of the Demonic Sect’s invasion of the Central Plains and its quest to rule Shenzhou, tasked with gathering intelligence, infiltration, subversion, bribery, and assassination.

The hall was filled with experts and was the most secretive, like a dragon whose head could be seen but not its tail.

Beneath the head of the Azure Dragon Hall were seven top disciples of the Demonic Sect, known collectively as the Seven Stars of Azure Dragon.

In addition, there were the Eighteen Dragon Claws and the One Hundred and Eight Dragon Scales.

Among the Dragon Claws and Dragon Scales were both direct disciples of the Demonic Sect and top experts from the Central Plains or other tribes who had been bribed or turned.

Because of frequent expansion or losses, the actual number of Dragon Claws and Dragon Scales often changed; eighteen and one hundred and eight were nominal numbers, sometimes exceeded, occasionally fewer.

There were also the legendary Three Dragons, all renowned elders and powerful figures from prestigious sects, who maintained their upright reputations in their own factions but had secretly joined the Demonic Sect.

The entire Azure Dragon Hall was powerful and deeply rooted.

The complete roster was known only to the sect master, Logan Brooks, and the head of the Azure Dragon Hall.

The Ganlu Manor where he was currently staying was famous for a thousand miles around.
