Chapter 10

Abraham Lincoln originally intended to do something, but stopped in his tracks. He recognized that little girl—though she was a bit single-minded, her mastery of the Dao was quite profound. She was one of the extraordinary talents at Emily Thompson's side. There should be a few more like her, usually responsible for protecting Emily Thompson.

“Oh.” Grace Howard responded, nodded politely to Henry Cooper, and with a word of request, her peachwood sword flew up from her back. With a flash of yellow light, she was already in front of Henry Cooper.

“Just a brat who knows a few tricks.” Henry Cooper snorted coldly, slammed her nine-ringed staff onto the ground, and a large iron rod appeared in her hand, which she brought down heavily on the peachwood sword.

With a crack, the peachwood sword snapped in two, flew backward, struck the little girl, and sent her flying. She hit the ground and spat out a mouthful of blood, unable to withstand even a single move.

Holding the iron rod, Henry Cooper mocked, “With people like this, you dare to boast about challenging the Jade Emperor’s hundred thousand heavenly soldiers? If you have any other tricks, use them all. Human emperors are still just ordinary mortals.”

“Three Ghosts, kill her.” Emily Thompson glanced at Grace Howard, who was lying on the ground unable to get up, and said coldly.

As soon as the words fell, three shadows suddenly darted out from the darkness nearby, charging at Henry Cooper from three directions at incredible speed, leaving afterimages behind. Only three flashes of cold light could be seen, indicating that all three held weapons.

Henry Cooper looked at the three, sneered, and the string of prayer beads on her right hand suddenly burst forth with golden light, enveloping her surroundings. As the three assassins entered the golden light, it was as if they had fallen into a quagmire. Forget about assassinating her—they could barely move a step.

Bang! Bang! Bang! With three sounds, the three shadows were sent flying, landing on the ground. Two of them passed out immediately, while the last one, barely holding on, shouted loudly, “Protect His Majesty!”

But the guards and ministers below the stage seemed unaware of what was happening above, still kneeling and bowing, not hearing his shout at all.

“Mortals are just mortals. If you haven’t joined the ranks of immortals, what use is a little magic? In front of a true immortal, you’re just showing off your meager skills. The people at your side are all useless.” Henry Cooper laughed heartily, having easily defeated Emily Thompson’s guards. She was in a great mood, looked at Emily Thompson stepping forward, and sneered, “Now that you have no one left, it’s your turn. Will you kneel and kowtow to my master to apologize, or shall I return the fifty strokes you gave my master yesterday?”

“And who do you think you are, to order me to kneel?” Emily Thompson lifted his chin slightly. Though shorter than Henry Cooper, he gave the impression of looking down on her, showing not a trace of fear from beginning to end.

“Arrogant mortal, today I’ll make you remember that immortals and Buddhas are not to be disrespected!” Henry Cooper shouted angrily, raising her iron rod and swinging it directly at Emily Thompson.

She had just sent Grace Howard and the Three Ghosts flying with a single blow. If this strike landed on Emily Thompson’s head, it would surely kill him instantly.

But Emily Thompson neither dodged nor flinched, not even blinking, as if he was about to be splattered with blood in the next moment.

However, just as the iron rod was about to strike Emily Thompson’s head, a fair hand reached out and grabbed the rod.

The iron rod, so powerful it could shatter Grace Howard’s magical weapon with a single blow, was now held fast by a single hand, unable to move even an inch further.

“How… how is this possible!” Grace Howard’s expression changed as she looked at Abraham Lincoln, who had stepped forward from behind Emily Thompson holding the iron rod, her face full of disbelief.

“I think that even if immortals and Buddhas aren’t without desire or joy, they should at least have some reverence. Looks like I was overthinking it.” Abraham Lincoln shook his head, looked at Henry Cooper, and his voice grew cold. “And you—what right do you have to touch him?”

“You—” Henry Cooper opened her mouth to speak, but before she could say anything, a fist appeared before her.

The golden Buddha light did nothing to slow the fist. The prayer beads on her right hand shattered instantly. Bang! With a muffled thud, Henry Cooper’s massive figure was sent flying, crashing into the monastery wall a hundred meters away, raising a cloud of dust.

“A girl shouldn’t have such a bad temper, or she’ll get beaten up all the same.” Abraham Lincoln glanced over and said helplessly.

Chapter Six: Marriage and the Journey to the West Must Be Kept Separate

“Henry Cooper, stop!” Eleanor Clark, who had been in a daze at the side, finally reacted, called out, and then saw Henry Cooper sent flying by a punch from Abraham Lincoln, her mouth slightly open in shock.

Abraham Lincoln withdrew his fist, looked at the adorably stunned Eleanor Clark, and smiled, “Your disciple was asking for a beating. It’s fine if I hit her, right?”

Looking at the warm smile on Abraham Lincoln’s face, Eleanor Clark’s eyes sparkled with stars. She nodded repeatedly, “It’s fine, hit her as much as you like.”

Abraham Lincoln felt a second of pity for Henry Cooper, who was still buried under the rubble, but of course, there was no room for negotiation about the beating.

Emily Thompson, a bit surprised, glanced at Abraham Lincoln, walked forward, circled around Eleanor Clark and looked her up and down, showing no respect but also no hostility, and asked with a smile, “Sister Eleanor Clark, what brings you to the Tang Dynasty?”

Eleanor Clark blushed under Emily Thompson’s gaze, clutching her clothes, “I came, I came, I…”
