“Dad, don’t worry, I’ll handle this!” Andrew Grant gently removed his father’s hand from his arm, then strolled over toward Mr. Lane and Olivia Baker.
Strangely enough, although Andrew Grant was clearly just a teenager, dressed plainly, when he walked toward them, Mr. Lane and Olivia Baker instinctively took a step back. Mr. Lane even subconsciously hid his hand behind his back, looking at Andrew Grant and blustering, “Kid, what do you want? My dad is the owner of Changxi Grand Hotel, and he’s friends with the county leaders and the chief of the county police!”
“Dongxu, don’t do anything rash!” Seeing Mr. Lane announce his background, William Grant called out in a panic.
Others might not know what his son was capable of, but he knew a bit.
“Dad, don’t worry, I know what I’m doing.” Andrew Grant turned back and gave his father a reassuring look, then reached out and grabbed both Mr. Lane and Olivia Baker by the arm.
He knew these two were the leaders among this group of young people.
“What are you doing? Let go of me!” Mr. Lane and Olivia Baker immediately shouted, struggling to break free from Andrew Grant’s grip.
But Andrew Grant’s hands, though they didn’t look big or thick, were as cold and hard as iron pincers.
It would have been better if they hadn’t struggled, but as soon as they did, Andrew Grant tightened his grip, and they immediately broke out in a cold sweat from the pain.
“Easy, easy, it hurts!”
“I’m not trying to hit you. I just want to have a good talk with you, but you insist on making a scene.” Andrew Grant said coldly.
“We won’t shout, we won’t shout.” Mr. Lane and Olivia Baker hurriedly replied.
Now they could see that this young man was a real fighter. It was better to avoid suffering now and settle the score later.
“That’s more like it!” Hearing this, the icy look on Andrew Grant’s face turned into the simple, honest smile unique to mountain folk. While pulling them toward the inner room, he turned to William Grant and Ethan Reed and said, “Dad, Ethan sis, you two keep entertaining the guests. I’ll go inside and have a good chat with Mr. Lane and Olivia Baker.”
William Grant watched his son “escort” Mr. Lane and Olivia Baker into the inner room, a helpless and worried smile on his face. In the end, he did as his son said, went with Ethan to entertain the guests, and chased away some of the village kids who were there to watch the commotion.
Once inside, Andrew Grant let go, closed the door, then looked at Mr. Lane and Olivia Baker and said with a faint smile, “The countryside isn’t like the city. Make yourselves comfortable.”
Looking at the simple, honest smile on Andrew Grant’s face, tinged with a bit of youthful shyness and innocence, Mr. Lane and Olivia Baker almost couldn’t connect this teenager in front of them with the fierce guy who had just taken down five or six young men alone in the restaurant.
“Alright, what do you want?” But Mr. Lane and Olivia Baker were people with backgrounds. Even if Andrew Grant was a trained fighter and they were worried about getting roughed up, they weren’t truly afraid of him. So they sat down boldly and looked at Andrew Grant.
“It’s not about what I want. It’s about what you want. I know you both have status and connections. We’re just ordinary folks. If you pretend to give in now and then settle the score later, wouldn’t we be in trouble?” Andrew Grant looked at them calmly.
Mr. Lane and Olivia Baker felt a chill run through them as they looked at Andrew Grant’s calm face.
Was this really just a fifteen- or sixteen-year-old boy? Such meticulous thinking and sharp insight were not something someone his age should possess!
“Since you understand all this, you still dare to hit us? Do you really think that just because you know some martial arts, you can do whatever you want? Do you think we’re afraid of you and won’t come after you later? Let me tell you, this won’t end here! Unless you have the guts to kill us and silence us, or you kneel down and kowtow to me right now and become my lackey—do whatever I tell you from now on.” After that inexplicable chill, Mr. Lane crossed his legs and looked at Andrew Grant with a look that said he had him figured out.
People like them, with status and connections, only feared reckless fools. Since Andrew Grant understood everything, it actually made things easier for them.
Because smart people always have concerns!
“Smack!” Just as Mr. Lane was feeling smug, thinking he had Andrew Grant figured out, Andrew Grant suddenly picked up a book from the table and smacked him hard on the head.
“Watch your mouth. Whose boss do you think you are?”
“You dare hit me! Does your family’s shop really not want to…” Mr. Lane was stunned by the blow. Wasn’t this kid afraid of him coming after him later? Why was he still so arrogant? Then Mr. Lane jumped up in a rage.
Chapter 0004: Paper Figure
“Smack! Smack! Smack!” But just as Mr. Lane jumped up, Andrew Grant suddenly reached out, grabbed him by the neck, and started hitting him on the head with the book.
“Say ‘boss’ to me one more time, I dare you!” The smile on Andrew Grant’s face had vanished at some point, replaced by an icy coldness.
