Chapter 5

The eyes of that figure shone even brighter than the sun.

He stood proudly, hands clasped behind his back, head held high as he gazed at the sky. Bolts of lightning, like giant dragons, coiled and flashed around him, while endless orbs of energy exploded in every direction.

He was solitary, proud, and awe-inspiring. It was as if heaven and earth existed solely for him. Yet as Andrew Carter looked at him, he couldn’t shake a strange feeling: he could be even more perfect.

Almost the instant this thought arose in Andrew Carter’s mind, he suddenly lowered his head and glanced at Andrew Carter.

A vast, boundless voice echoed between heaven and earth: “Seven sins and eight sufferings, good and evil born as twins!”

“Immortal and demon, a thought apart; life and death, overturned with a wave.”

“I was born to save the world, but my heart demon would destroy it. Cut it down—”

He suddenly struck, grasping at the air. Infinite radiance gathered from the endless distance, forming a treasured sword. With a backward sweep, he slashed off his own head!

“Ah!” Andrew Carter cried out in shock, only to see that before the head could hit the ground, another identical, majestic figure stepped out from the corpse!

And that rolling head exploded with a bang into endless black mist.

From the black mist, countless shadowy demons were born, converging from all directions—some sobbing low, some howling fiercely, some laughing madly. Countless faces of madness, pain, wickedness, anger, and rage… appeared one after another in the black mist.

The phantoms gathered upon the corpse, which rapidly shrank and transformed into a pitch-black heart!

Andrew Carter was greatly startled. Looking again, the new figure was now utterly perfect!

Suddenly, Andrew Carter understood: “The Immortal Emperor’s heart demon! So it’s the Immortal Emperor’s heart demon!”

There was a rumor above the Seven Realms: when the Ancient Dragon Immortal Emperor ascended the throne, he severed a heart demon, thus attaining the Great Dao and ultimately becoming the greatest ruler of the human race.

But after that, nothing more was ever heard about this heart demon.

Everyone thought the Immortal Emperor’s heart demon had long since perished, but no one expected it had been sealed within Soul Suppressing Mountain all this time. Now, for some unknown reason, this heart demon had emerged.

This place was truly the starting point of the million-strong battle!

A sharp voice shot out from within the Immortal Emperor’s heart demon, filled with endless resentment: “Who in this world is truly perfect?

You and I were once one—why should you be the one to cut me down?

Just wait, I will surely create another Immortal Emperor to contend with you…”

The soundwaves trembled, reverberating throughout the world. It seemed as if this world could not withstand the Immortal Emperor’s heart demon’s overwhelming resentment, and with that terrifying voice, everything collapsed with a roar…

After a long, long time, when the smoke had cleared, he knelt in the valley. Soul Suppressing Mountain was completely intact, and the thousands of terrifying Dark Sea monsters had vanished without a trace. Yet he held the Immortal Emperor’s heart demon in his cupped hands!

“Ah!” he cried out again. On the Immortal Emperor’s heart demon, black dragons writhed, as if struggling to break free.

That strange Taiji diagram suddenly flew out and imprinted itself on his brow. The entire black heart burst into a dark golden radiance and merged into his body!

Andrew Carter felt the world rumble once more. His body seemed about to explode from the pressure, as powerful energy surged into him, like countless sharp blades viciously slicing through him!

He could feel his cultivation realm rising rapidly, but the pain was inhumanly excruciating—he didn’t know if he could endure it.

Time seemed to slow to a crawl. Andrew Carter was drenched in sweat, feeling as if he would shatter his own teeth from clenching so hard.

That immense power gradually forced open his fourth meridian.

This was not the gradual progress of steady cultivation, but a forceful breakthrough! Like a red-hot iron rod brutally piercing through his meridian!

“Ah—”

He screamed miserably at the sky, but when he opened his mouth, only a faint golden flame came out.

And at that instant, the pain reached its peak!

Andrew Carter’s eyes rolled back and he fainted. In the moment before he lost consciousness, his fourth meridian was finally fully opened. After enduring inhuman agony, he had finally achieved the Four Meridians of Power!

Chapter 3: The Power of Four Meridians

At dawn, Uncle Grant stood anxiously at the entrance of the manor.

He was the old servant by Harold Carter’s side, having followed Harold Carter for decades. You could say he had watched Andrew Carter and Ethan Carter, the two brothers, grow up.

He also knew very well what kind of people Jason Carter and Victor Carter, the other two brothers, were. Relying on their father being the clan leader, they acted recklessly and lawlessly. If Victor Carter hadn’t been dragged off to drink as soon as he returned yesterday, he would surely have come to the manor to cause trouble for Andrew Carter.

But today, it seemed there was no way Young Master Ang could avoid this calamity.

He sighed inwardly. Young Master Ang didn’t used to be like this—whenever he heard Victor Carter was coming to cause trouble, he would have hidden far away by now.

Yet Uncle Grant also felt a bit pleased. The way Young Master Ang used to be was just too weak. Now, even though he might be severely beaten, at least he was showing the courage of a real man.

Uncle Grant gritted his teeth. At worst, I’ll risk this old life of mine—no matter what, I must block Victor Carter.

But Victor Carter had already reached the cultivation of Four Meridians of Power. Even if he risked his life, could he stop him? Or should he kneel and kowtow, clinging to his leg and begging desperately?
