Chapter 4

He didn’t even know the name of the continent he was on.

After all, the owner of the body he now inhabited was only fifteen years old, and the knowledge transmission system here was severely flawed. Not to mention a fifteen-year-old— even his parents had never traveled farther than the small town a dozen or so miles from the village in all their decades of life.

However, his own uncle, that robust middle-aged man David Brooks, was the most knowledgeable and capable person in the entire village.

Among the villages within a ten-mile radius, David Brooks was the only disciple of the Qi Dao Sect, so his word was law here— no one dared defy him.

Five years ago, after David Brooks returned home from the Qi Dao Sect, he began recruiting disciples in the village, teaching martial arts and the art of forging steel.

Martial arts were a major feature of this world, and also the skill Chad Brooks yearned for the most.

Unfortunately, while the owner of this body did possess a bit of talent for martial arts, that talent seemed rather mediocre no matter how you looked at it.

In five years, he had only managed to cultivate the first level of the Qi Nurturing Technique that David Brooks taught. Meanwhile, his fellow disciples who started training at the same time had all made rapid progress— especially David Brooks’s eldest son Henry Brooks, his second son Frank Brooks, and another disciple Grace Bolton whom David Brooks had taken in— all of whom were outstanding.

The three of them had all reached the peak of the sixth level of the Qi Nurturing Technique, and were even pushing toward the seventh.

Granted, this was partly because they had spent more time at David Brooks’s side, but it was clear that Chad Brooks’s talent for cultivating true qi was truly unremarkable.

Even so, Chad Brooks did not become disheartened like the body’s previous owner.

For him, simply being able to experience the existence of true qi was already an incredibly wondrous thing.

After fully merging with the memories, he began diligently studying martial arts techniques, as well as the forging methods taught by David Brooks.

According to David Brooks, the Qi Dao Sect was a sect capable of forging divine weapons and sharp tools.

Within this sect, craftsmen were held in high esteem, and he himself was a craftsman with some skill in forging.

Chad Brooks was interested in martial arts, but even more fascinated by the art of forging. He knew that if he focused solely on martial arts, he would likely never catch up to Henry Brooks and the others. But if he could achieve something in forging, his future status might not be any less than theirs.

Moreover, Chad Brooks had a powerful helper.

The intelligent brain.

The AI program carried on the spaceship had inexplicably entered his mind, not only coexisting with him, but also undergoing a new transformation— one whose nature, good or bad, no one could say.

It was no longer an ordinary AI, but had evolved into a true intelligent lifeform.

Chad Brooks couldn’t explain any of this, but he knew that the existence of the AI spirit would provide him with tremendous help.

It was precisely because of the AI spirit that he was able to forge the longsword in his hand, and likewise, it was thanks to the AI spirit that he could, with only a mere tenth of the first level of the Qi Nurturing Technique, activate the power of the short needle and inscribe part of the spirit pattern on the longsword.

Spirit patterns— these things were mysterious and unfathomable, even more incredible than martial arts.

David Brooks had once said that true divine weapons all possessed spirituality.

This spirituality did not arise out of nowhere, but was infused by another kind of powerful being known as a spirit master. However, before spirituality could be infused into a divine weapon, suitable spirit patterns had to be carved onto it.

Perhaps because he was a disciple of the Qi Dao Sect, David Brooks knew a bit about spirit patterns, and when he successfully forged a sharp sword, he inscribed this spirit pattern onto the blade.

Although it was Chad Brooks’s first time witnessing this process, thanks to the AI spirit, he was able to easily replicate it.

The only regret was that his true qi was simply too weak.

David Brooks could carve all the spirit patterns in one go, but Chad Brooks couldn’t even complete a tenth of them.

After sighing for a while, even though he knew it was impossible, he still harbored an unrealistic wish.

If only he could possess the powerful true qi of his uncle.

Clenching his fists tightly, he silently vowed in his heart that one day, he would surpass his uncle.

“Woof woof...”

In the distance, the barking of a dog startled him back to reality. Glancing at the sky, he saw the sun was already setting, and dusk was falling.

Shaking his head, he carefully hid the longsword and short needle, turned around, and ran toward the village. Moments later, he was back in the village and entered a large courtyard.

Chapter 003: Parental Hearts

The spacious courtyard was bathed in a layer of rosy evening glow, and the beautiful scene left Chad Brooks somewhat entranced.

“Young master Chengfeng, you’re back. Come in quickly, the master and madam are waiting for you to eat.” A middle-aged woman came out, beckoning him in.

Chad Brooks nodded slightly, quickened his pace a little, and entered the inner hall.
