Chapter 6

Qi Cultivation is a cultivation technique taught by David Brooks.

The technique’s mnemonic is extremely simple, but not everyone is able to cultivate true qi.

The original owner of this body, when he first succeeded in cultivating true qi a few years ago, was also full of ambition. But after five years of arduous cultivation, he had long since become disheartened.

However, for Chad Brooks at this moment, cultivation was a completely new insight and experience, and he was filled with a strong desire for it.

True qi slowly flowed outward from his dantian, circulating along his meridians.

During this process, a trace of mysterious power was born within his body. This power was a person’s potential, stimulated by the wondrous technique and transformed into true qi that could be used.

However, although Chad Brooks worked hard, the true qi he managed to generate was extremely limited—almost imperceptible.

After a full hour, he let out a long breath and opened his eyes.

“Emily Brooks, what were the results of my cultivation?”

“After testing, your true qi has increased slightly.” Emily Brooks’s voice sounded as calm as ever: “According to my calculations, if you persistently work hard, you should be able to reach the peak of the first level of Qi Cultivation in a month.”

“A month, huh…” Chad Brooks frowned and said softly, “Why did the previous owner get nowhere after cultivating for so long?”

“That’s a question you should ask yourself.” There was a hint of teasing in Emily Brooks’s voice.

Chad Brooks rolled his eyes. This guy hidden inside his body was becoming more and more human-like. An ordinary intelligent program had actually become something like an artificial intelligence, and it existed using his body as a vessel. Thinking about it was rather unsettling.

Fortunately, Chad Brooks had already experienced things like reincarnation and body possession, so this life was basically something he’d picked up, and his mindset was extremely calm.

In fact, he was quite satisfied with the date Emily Brooks had given.

What the original owner of this body couldn’t achieve in years, he could accomplish in just one month. This result was already a pleasant surprise, and even gave rise to a rather strange thought in his mind.

Could it be that his inexplicable possession of this body had caused it to mutate in some way, making cultivation much easier?

However, he didn’t know that this body hadn’t actually changed, and certainly hadn’t gone from a barely cultivatable, half-wasted physique to some peerless prodigy.

It was just that the two owners of the body had completely different attitudes toward cultivation, resulting in vastly different outcomes.

Because of his constitution, the original owner, after each cultivation session, would see a slight increase in true qi, but was unable to sense it. Over time, he developed the illusion that no matter how hard he cultivated, he was getting nowhere. As a result, his motivation was gradually worn away, and his progress in true qi became even slower.

But now, with Emily Brooks’s help, even the slightest increase in true qi could be clearly quantified, and he could even estimate the approximate time needed for advancement.

With a clear goal, Chad Brooks’s mindset was naturally completely different.

Stretching lazily, he felt the true qi in his dantian become full again, a trace of joy flashing across his face, and he felt a strong urge to go to the abandoned blacksmith shop in the back mountain to continue inscribing spirit patterns.

But seeing that it was already late, and recalling his parents’ earlier conversation, he finally gave up on the idea.

After a quick wash, he went to bed. At this moment, he was looking forward to the coming of tomorrow more than ever before.

However, he didn’t know that just after the light in his room went out, Brian Brooks and his wife exchanged a glance, both with a trace of helplessness in their eyes.

“Husband, I don’t think Chad will give up cultivating true qi. Sigh, if we had known this would happen, we shouldn’t have sent him to uncle’s place back then.”

Brian Brooks frowned and said, “Don’t talk nonsense. Chad is just unwilling to give up for now. After a few more years without a breakthrough, he’ll probably give up.”

Olivia Carter sighed softly and said, “Let’s hope… so.”

How pitiful are the hearts of parents everywhere. What the couple wished for at this moment was not for their son to achieve greatness, but simply for him to live a safe and peaceful life…

Chapter 004: The Young Girl

With a light push of his feet, Chad Brooks’s body sprang into the air as if equipped with springs.

Although he only possessed the first level of true qi, his agility and strength were already vastly different from ordinary people—especially when channeling true qi into his legs, he was as nimble as a cross between a macaque and a kangaroo, racing swiftly along the slightly rugged path.

Before long, he arrived at the abandoned blacksmith shop.
