Chapter 8

Quickly grabbing some clean water and compressed food, he took both military daggers from the two soldiers, bringing them all with him. Both soldiers had guns, but these military firearms were impossible to use unless you were the owner.

After that, Kevin Walker completely sealed the cave entrance and hurried off in the direction pointed out by Little Tyler, plunging straight into the dense primordial forest.

Having grown up in the city, Kevin Walker had little experience in the wild, let alone in such a primeval forest. Although his knowledge reserves were sufficient, just from the two attacks at the base earlier, he already knew that “what’s learned from books is always shallow” was absolutely true.

Prepared for a near-certain death, Kevin Walker was surprised to find the journey much smoother than he had imagined, almost like a dream.

First, the place where the primordial starry sky behemoth had fallen was easy to find, so there was no worry about getting lost. Moreover, Kevin Walker didn’t encounter many dangers, and his physical condition was currently very strong.

He could easily leap onto trees several meters high, and his running speed surpassed that of a cheetah on Earth. Even when he encountered a few small beasts, they posed little threat. The whole journey was just like running along a road, and he covered several hundred miles with unimaginable ease.

It wasn’t until Kevin Walker stood not far from the massive starry sky passage opened by the primordial behemoth that he felt a sense of unreality—was it really this easy to get here?

Wasn’t it said that after a primordial starry sky behemoth appeared and was killed, the area would be filled with countless deadly threats—primordial beasts, giant beasts, primordial insects, and so on? Even the military would need a long time to clear them out. So what was going on now? Why was it so quiet?

From a distance, the pitch-black hole in the ground was visible, and not only below but all around were countless spatial rifts. Yet, it was eerily quiet here, completely at odds with what Kevin Walker knew.

Standing far away on a large tree branch, gazing into the distance and not knowing what to do, he suddenly heard a cold, childish voice ring out in his sea of consciousness.

“On the right, the open area—go forward another three kilometers.”

As the voice spoke, Kevin Walker had already arrived at the place Little Tyler mentioned, carefully watching for any changes around him. He said, “This is as far as I can go. Who knows if there will be spatial rifts ahead…”

At this moment, Little Tyler, who was in Kevin Walker’s sea of consciousness, clearly had his eyes light up, his hands constantly changing gestures, and most importantly, his black and white eyes were flashing with light.

Almost simultaneously, the Taiji diagram birthmark on Kevin Walker’s chest began to operate again. This time, a virtual light of the Taiji diagram shot straight into the air.

In the next moment, in the seemingly empty void, a star core sparkling with starlight and spinning continuously was drawn out. The instant the star core appeared, the spatial rifts in those distant passages seemed to stabilize and stopped fluctuating.

“The star core of the primordial starry sky beast…”

There was no detailed introduction to this thing in textbooks or materials. Someone had once asked online why the cores of other primordial giant beasts were called beast cores, but the primordial starry sky behemoth’s was called a star core. No one had ever answered this question.

Looking at this star core, covered in starry patterns and giving off a sense of perfection, Kevin Walker found it hard to look away.

“Whoosh…” But before Kevin Walker could take a closer look, the star core suddenly shot toward Kevin Walker. It was so fast—so fast that Kevin Walker didn’t even have time to blink or react before the star core struck his head and disappeared.

This made Kevin Walker’s heart race wildly, a feeling of surviving a disaster welling up inside him.

Although Kevin Walker had guessed on the way here that he might have reached level one physique, the primordial starry sky behemoth was a being that could break through starry sky passages with its body and even take on battleships head-on.

To put it bluntly, even a single hair from such a creature could kill him, let alone its hardest part—the star core.

Just as Kevin Walker was still feeling lingering fear, he suddenly sensed something hiding in his sea of consciousness. He saw that the star core that had just disappeared was now in his sea of consciousness, and Little Tyler had climbed right on top of it, looking just like someone who hadn’t eaten for seven or eight days and suddenly saw food…

“Boom… rumble…”

“Roar… howl…”

Just as Kevin Walker was about to have a good talk with Little Tyler, a sudden change occurred. As the star core disappeared, the previously calm spatial passage suddenly erupted as countless primordial beasts poured out from some of the spatial rifts.

This spatial passage had been opened by the primordial starry sky behemoth, different from naturally occurring spatial rifts…

Flying in the air, running on the ground, in an instant they surged forth like a tidal wave. Creatures resembling tyrannosauruses burst out, only to be bitten by a dozen giant crocodiles, struggling furiously to break free.

On the back of a colossal being, dozens of meters tall and shaped like an ancient mammoth, stood a fire ape covered in fiery fur. A golden-scaled giant python with wings, a hundred meters long, burst out and swept away countless primordial beasts with a flick of its tail, soaring into the sky. Even a flock of fierce, pterosaur-like creatures in the air scattered to avoid it. There was also a six-tailed fox-like giant beast that, after charging out, left behind a phantom and vanished mysteriously…

More primordial beasts rushed out and ran desperately. The ground was covered with swarms of reptiles and insects, trampled underfoot. Smaller primordial beasts were also trampled to death as they ran.

But no matter what, all the primordial beasts were desperately charging out, some roaring in excitement, others wailing in death. It truly formed a terrifying tide of primordial beasts.
