Chapter 19

Evelyn Spencer said, “Senior brother, I picked up the custom-made Daoist robes today. How about we take a bath and change into new clothes?”

Clifford Bolton smiled and said, “Sounds great.”

Behind the Taiyi Temple, there was a small creek with clear water, where the three master and disciples usually fetched water to drink. However, the creek was only half a foot deep, not suitable for bathing. Clifford Bolton originally planned to just wash up a bit, but Evelyn Spencer, being a transmigrator, couldn’t stand the filth on his body any longer. He persuaded his senior brother to help him dig a pit by the creek, diverting water into it, making it like a small bath pool.

The two brothers brought their new clothes, took off their old ones, and jumped into the pit, scrubbing themselves happily. Suddenly, there was an “Aiya!” Evelyn Spencer looked up and saw the woman in the red dress again. He couldn’t help but flare up in anger, shouting, “Lecher! How dare you peep at us brothers bathing?”

The woman in the red dress blushed deeply with embarrassment, covered her face, and hurried away.

Chapter 14 Someone Wants to Kill and Silence Witnesses

Clifford Bolton grabbed his new Daoist robe, hastily threw it on, and was about to give chase. A cool breeze swept through his crotch, making him feel a bit refreshed but also a little off.

Evelyn Spencer was much calmer. He first dried himself with his old clothes, then leisurely changed into the new Daoist robe and new shoes and socks. However, the tailoring skills in this world were mediocre, so the brand-new clothes and shoes weren’t all that comfortable.

Evelyn Spencer thought to himself, “Alas! The craftsmen in this world are only at this level.”

He said to Clifford Bolton, “Senior brother, dry yourself off and change first. We’ll chase after that female pervert together.”

Clifford Bolton came to his senses and chuckled, saying, “How could there be female perverts in this world?”

Evelyn Spencer thought, “Senior brother has never met a scummy woman or a female player.”

He didn’t bother to explain and said, “I’ll go after her first.”

That woman in the red dress had almost shot him into a second transmigration with her arrow—how could he let her off so easily?

At the very least, she deserved a good beating!

He used his qinggong to give chase. Not long after, he heard the wind behind him—Clifford Bolton had already changed into his new clothes, sleeves fluttering, and caught up.

It was the first time Evelyn Spencer saw his senior brother use qinggong. He saw a young Daoist with sword-like brows and jade-like features, graceful and unrestrained, moving with poise and ease, as if riding the wind. He overtook Evelyn Spencer with ease, his qinggong far superior.

Evelyn Spencer couldn’t help but ask, “Senior brother, what qinggong is this?”

Clifford Bolton smiled slightly and replied, “This is the Riding the Wind Technique, one of the thirteen ultimate skills of our Songyang Sect!”

“Our founder mastered this technique and could ride the wind straight up, floating in the air for dozens of breaths. Our master can also leap into the air and change his movement thirteen times midair. I’m much worse—can only use it as ordinary qinggong, nothing fancy.”

Evelyn Spencer listened with great envy and asked, “When I first met Master, he was meditating in midair above the water. Was he using this Riding the Wind Technique?”

Clifford Bolton smiled and said, “Exactly, it’s this very skill.”

The two brothers chased for several miles and saw a feathered arrow stuck in a big tree, with a piece of mulberry paper hanging from it, seemingly with writing on it.

Evelyn Spencer was about to grab it, but his senior brother stopped him. Clifford Bolton said in a low voice, “Junior brother, when you’re out in the martial world and encounter something like this, never reach out to take it. You might get poisoned or ambushed.”

Evelyn Spencer took the advice seriously. He broke off a branch nearby and used it to pick down the arrow. On the mulberry paper were a few lines: “Wendy Wood was reckless that day and accidentally shot the young Daoist. I came to the temple to apologize.”

“It wasn’t intentional just now…”

“Hope you two young Daoists won’t hold a grudge.”

The last two lines were written messily, clearly showing the writer was not calm.

The two brothers had wasted some time getting dressed, so the woman in the red dress was long gone. Seeing the note, Evelyn Spencer still felt stifled but could only say, “She sure ran fast.”

Clifford Bolton smiled and advised, “It was just a misunderstanding, junior brother. Don’t take it to heart.”

Evelyn Spencer said angrily, “I almost died—how can I just let it go?”

Clifford Bolton laughed again, finding his junior brother quite amusing.

The woman in the red dress looked back, her heart full of mixed feelings and awkwardness. She was actually afraid the two young Daoists would catch up and didn’t know how to face them.

That day, the arrow she shot was meant for the leader, but Evelyn Spencer acted so fast he chopped off the man’s head, and the arrow went straight at him! She was worried the group would chase after her, so she retreated early. Who would have thought Evelyn Spencer was so fierce, killing the pursuers left and right?

This time, she wanted to come and apologize, but ended up as a peeping tom, saw the two young Daoists bathing, and got called a pervert. Now, every time she closed her eyes, she saw the two of them naked, blushing all over.

“Too bad I have urgent matters—my lady is waiting for me to fetch reinforcements, I can’t delay even a moment. Otherwise, I’d definitely come back to apologize again.”

Wendy Wood returned to Taiyi Temple from the back mountain, saw the seven fine horses Evelyn Spencer had brought back, and, knowing she was in a hurry, realized it wasn’t right but still took one, mounted it, and rode off in haste.
