Chapter 20

All new disciples of Subao Mountain, regardless of whether they are personal disciples or not, must enter the Subao Academy. Only after completing the most basic courses will their future paths be determined based on their own achievements.

However, personal disciples like Edward Foster and Henry Wright, in addition to attending lectures, will certainly receive careful private guidance from their masters. Coupled with their outstanding talent, their accomplishments are sure to far surpass those of ordinary disciples.

This time, with the opening of the mountain gate, Subao Mountain has admitted over a hundred new disciples in total. Although this stone house is quite large, it still feels somewhat crowded.

Some disciples sat by the windows and doors, watching a group of neatly dressed disciples outside, led by an instructor, skimming swiftly across the ground and disappearing into the forest of the martial practice field. Instantly, a wave of envy swept over them.

Those were the senior disciples who joined three years ago. Their lightness skill had already reached the level of the top martial artists in the world—the “Soaring on Land” realm. To achieve such accomplishments in just three years of cultivation made all the new disciples’ hearts burn with excitement.

Brian Carter let out a slight sigh, not allowing himself to be envious. He understood that as long as he seized opportunities and worked diligently, one day he would reach that level—or even higher.

There were three others beside Brian Carter, all from the same courtyard.

George Parker was straightforward and easygoing, the life of the group.

Grace Lane and Patrick Harris, on the other hand, were more reserved, but at least on the surface, they seemed friendly enough.

After meeting each other, the four, living in the same small courtyard, naturally became more familiar than the others. As for whether they would truly become good friends in the future, no one could say for sure at this point.

Inside the stone house, there were clearly two factions: one led by Henry Wright, and the other naturally by Edward Foster.

The numbers on both sides were about equal, and they glared at each other coldly, making the atmosphere in the stone house rather tense.

Henry Wright had arrived at Subao Mountain first and had already been accepted as a disciple by the sect leader early on. So, among this batch of disciples, most of those with good talent had already aligned themselves with Henry Wright before Edward Foster arrived.

With a glance from Henry Wright, one of his followers seemingly accidentally bumped into the person next to him, then immediately jumped up and shouted, “Are you blind? How dare you hit me!”

The person who was bumped belonged to Edward Foster’s group. He sneered and said, “Hmph, how arrogant! You bumped into me yourself and now you’re trying to blame me!”

“You’re looking for trouble!”

“If you’ve got the guts, come on!”

The two immediately lunged at each other and started fighting. The crowd began to jeer, while Henry Wright and Edward Foster watched coldly from the sidelines. The desks and chairs in the classroom were all wooden, and the two quickly knocked over several of them.

Just as the fight was evenly matched, suddenly a yellow talisman flew in from outside the door, burning as it flew. By the time it reached above the two fighters, the now-burned-out talisman transformed into a giant hand, which swooped down and grabbed the two brawlers, then with a whoosh, tossed them out.

The two were thrown out the door, and everyone hurriedly chased after them.

They saw a sturdy man standing with his back to the crowd at the doorway. With two fingers, he pinched a talisman, which immediately ignited.

“Go!”

The man pointed the burning talisman, and a giant wooden mallet appeared out of thin air, smashing down hard on the two still tumbling through the air!

“Bang!”

With a miserable scream, the two were slammed to the ground, blood streaming from their orifices as they fell unconscious from their severe injuries.

The disciples were all startled, never expecting the man to be so ruthless.

Under the fearful gazes of the disciples, the man slowly turned around. A hideous scar, like a centipede, ran from his forehead, across his left eye, all the way down to his neck!

He blinked slightly, and the gruesome scar seemed to move, making a few timid disciples shudder in fright.

The fierce man didn’t even glance at the two severely injured disciples, letting them bleed where they lay, and strode proudly into the classroom.

The disciples looked at Henry Wright and Edward Foster in turn. Edward Foster pondered but made no move. Henry Wright, however, quietly signaled, and one of his followers tried to go help their injured companion. Unexpectedly, as soon as he stretched out his foot, a cold glint flashed in the fierce man’s eyes!

Swish! The disciples’ vision blurred, and a miserable scream rang out!

A sharp dagger pinned that foot firmly to the ground!

Blood gushed out, and the disciple broke out in a cold sweat from the pain, clutching his leg and screaming in agony.

The fierce man stood before everyone and said coldly, “Did I say you could go help those two?”

Edward Foster gritted his teeth and was the first to return to the classroom. The others hurried back as well.

Brian Carter followed among the crowd, feeling a chill in his heart.

Once all the disciples had returned to their seats, the fierce man swept his gaze around, his eyes blazing with a fierce light. Every disciple he looked at obediently lowered their head.

Only then did the fierce man nod in satisfaction. “My name is Charles Grant, and I am your instructor. Let me make one thing clear: for every new batch of disciples, as long as the number of deaths in Subao Academy does not exceed five, I will not be held responsible in any way.”

“Hiss—”

All the disciples gasped! Even Edward Foster and Henry Wright were secretly shocked. The two of them knew that Charles Grant would never dare to kill them, but as for giving them a harsh beating or seriously injuring them, that was certainly within his power.
