Chapter 15

Gaia vomited violently, and his stomach felt much better. But as soon as he straightened up, he saw that red-robed youth charging at him like a madman. Without any fear, he lunged forward as well, and the two of them tangled together.

Although Abby was already eleven and bigger than Gaia, Gaia's reputation as the little tyrant of the countryside was well-earned. Shade's build was about the same as Abby, and Shade had even learned some martial arts since childhood, but even so, Shade still couldn't beat Gaia, let alone Abby, a pampered young master.

If Abby could keep his distance from Gaia and cast magic, even three Gaias might not be a match for Abby, who was a junior mage. But he just had to go crazy and fight Gaia hand-to-hand, so the outcome was obvious.

The commotion in the corridor had already attracted a crowd of onlookers, most of whom were young mages capable of casting spells. They were all there to watch the excitement, and as the scuffle dragged on, more and more people gathered, soon blocking the entire corridor.

"Do you admit defeat or not!!" Gaia pinned Abby to the ground once again and shouted at him.

Abby was completely out of strength. The only reason he could fight like a beast against Gaia for so long was sheer rage, but as the brawl went on, his momentum faded, and in the end, he was knocked to the ground again and again.

"Gaia, that's enough, let's go." Seeing that Abby couldn't move anymore, Tris tried to persuade him. He had been watching the whole fight. At first, when they were grappling, he wanted to go over and punch Abby a few times himself, but he realized Gaia alone was more than enough, so he just stood by and cheered.

"Hmph, if you dare insult Tris again, you'll be sorry!" Gaia, with spit all over his mouth, spat once and got up, strutting out proudly.

"Oh, Abby, is that really you? How did you get beaten up like this by a new kid at the academy?" At this moment, a voice called out from the crowd, clearly mocking Abby.

"I heard there's a wild kid named Gaia in the first year, with a magic talent of level six. Was that little wild monkey just now Gaia? Haha, a first-year magic apprentice took down a third-year junior mage! That's a huge sensation." Someone else shouted, and soon the whole third floor was in an uproar.

Tris and Gaia quickly slipped away from the crowd and ran back to their dormitory. Once inside, the two kids, dressed so differently, suddenly looked at each other and burst out laughing.

They were both still under ten years old, so they didn't care about the consequences. Just thinking about teaching that arrogant guy a lesson made them feel great. Especially Tris—before entering the magic academy, he was often bullied by Abby. Today, he finally got his revenge. If it weren't for the fact that Abby was his cousin, Tris might have gone over and kicked him a few times himself.

"Ouch!" As they laughed, Gaia suddenly felt a sharp pain in his stomach and couldn't help but cry out.

"What is it, what's wrong?" Tris stopped laughing and asked.

Gaia lifted his shirt and immediately saw a twenty-centimeter-long bruise on his belly. He poked it with his finger, and a sharp pain shot through him.

"Ah, you got hit by magic. This... this should be his signature spell, Wind Blade." Tris saw the wound and said nervously.

"So... what should I do? It looks like it's hard to heal. Ouch, it really hurts." Earlier, the excitement of the fight had numbed the pain, but now that things had calmed down, he realized how serious it was.

"Let's go see Mr. Mitchell tomorrow and have him use water magic to heal you," Tris said.

"Yeah, magic really is amazing. By the way, when will we be able to cast magic? And that water magic—can it really heal injuries?" Gaia was extremely eager to learn magic, especially after hearing that water magic could heal wounds. If he learned it, he could help the hunters in his village when they got hurt.

"We're still just magic apprentices. We have to meditate for a year to become trainee mages, then sign a contract with a god, and then start sensing wind elements. Only after we cast our first wind spell can we be considered junior mages. As for water magic, we have to be at least advanced mages to learn it." Tris was born into a noble family and knew a bit about magic, so he started explaining the basics to Gaia.

"We have to be advanced mages to learn water magic?" As soon as magic was mentioned, Gaia forgot about his wound and kept asking.

"Yeah, junior mages can only learn wind magic, intermediate mages can learn earth magic, advanced mages can learn water magic, grand mages can learn fire magic, and magisters can learn light magic... after that, I don't know." Tris said.

"Can't you learn all the magic at once?" Gaia couldn't help feeling a bit disappointed. He had hoped he could cast all sorts of dazzling spells at will.

"Of course not. As for why, I don't know either," Tris replied.
