Chapter 3

“What? You can’t? Haven’t you practiced martial arts?” Ashley Carter asked in surprise. She hadn’t expected to run into someone who didn’t practice martial arts—this was practically a stroke of luck, just like the accident they’d encountered. The odds were incredibly low.

“I’ve trained, but I’m too stupid—I didn’t learn it.” The boy replied, and this answer instantly plunged the two girls’ moods into gloom.

“Sigh, maybe it’s fate…” Ashley Carter let out a sigh.

“You don’t have to be so pessimistic. Even though I didn’t learn inner energy, I know how to stop bleeding. Once the bleeding is stopped, I can help you find a doctor.” The boy said at this moment, and his words rekindled hope in the two girls.

As long as the bleeding was stopped, everything else wouldn’t be a problem. They could just recuperate here for a few days and recover—there was no need to find a doctor at all.

“Then please help us stop the bleeding, little brother.” Ashley Carter said.

“Alright, I’ll help you right away… Wait…” The boy nodded, then suddenly shook his head. “This might not work.”

“What’s wrong now?” the two girls asked.

“The place where you’re injured… My mother said, men and women shouldn’t touch each other.” The boy looked at the girls’ wounds, then said helplessly.

“……”

It was only then that they realized, rather unfortunately, that their injuries were both around the chest area—one higher, one lower. Either way, it was inconvenient. Even though the boy was still young, it was still a bit embarrassing.

“This is about saving lives. You’re a healer now, so you don’t need to worry about such things.” Ashley Carter said, her face flushing slightly. She’d found a good excuse, but still felt a bit shy inside—after all, she’d never let any man see that area before.

“It’s fine, I don’t mind.” Grace Bennett was very straightforward. She didn’t care about this at all—her life was more important. Besides, he was just a “little brat.”

“That won’t do. My mother said, don’t let yourself suffer losses, but also don’t take advantage of others. If I do this, it’ll ruin your reputations. Better not.” The boy shook his head, seemingly refusing, and prepared to leave.

“Is reputation really more important than our lives?” Grace Bennett looked at the boy and asked.

“Don’t you women always say reputation is more important than life?” The boy asked, a bit confused. “That’s what my mother says.”

“Uh…” Ashley Carter was left speechless.

“This isn’t a big deal. People in the martial world sometimes don’t fuss over such things.” Grace Bennett said. She almost wanted to say, “Kid, you probably haven’t even grown all your hair yet, what are you fussing about?”

“Understood!” The boy thought for a moment, then nodded. This made the two girls relax, but they quickly fell speechless again, because the boy said:

“But, I’m not a person of the martial world.”

“……”

“As long as we don’t mind, why are you being so long-winded?” Ashley Carter couldn’t help but snap, while Grace Bennett glanced curiously at Ashley Carter, as if to say, “That’s my line—this doesn’t seem like you.”

“You don’t mind, but I can’t go against my principles. How about I give you the medicine and you do it yourselves?” The boy shook his head.

The two of them were speechless. This little brat was really troublesome!

“If we could move, we wouldn’t need you.” Ashley Carter said irritably.

“I see… Then I’ll do it!!” The boy seemed to make a big decision.

“You should have done that from the start. What made you change your mind?” Ashley Carter asked.

“This is how I see it: if I take advantage of you, I can’t just walk away. So, I’ll just marry you both—then it won’t matter. Besides, my mother is worried I won’t find a wife.” The boy said.

“Ah…” The two girls were instantly petrified.

“We don’t need you to take responsibility, you little brat! You haven’t even grown up and you dare to have designs on us?” Ashley Carter said angrily. So this kid wanted this all along? He’s young, but his mind is sharp—wants to marry both of us.

“This isn’t about having designs on you, it’s about taking responsibility. My mother said, you have to be responsible.” The boy said seriously.

“Did your mother ever tell you to be flexible?”

“My mother said, ‘respond to all changes with no change.’”

“……”

“Little brother, how old are you now?” Grace Bennett suddenly asked.

“I’ll be fifteen in a month.” The boy replied.

“So you’re only fourteen. We’re much older than you. You could find a younger girl—wouldn’t you be at a disadvantage with us?” Grace Bennett said.

“It’s not a loss. My mother said, ‘A woman three years older is a treasure.’” The boy shook his head and replied very seriously.

“We’re more than three years older!” Grace Bennett said with a laugh.

“Then I’ll just get a few more treasures.”

“……”

The two girls were speechless, feeling an urge to hit someone—or even kill. Was this kid a bit too “pure”? He spoke so naively, always quoting his mother.

Could it be that this kid really is a fool?

Forget it, there’s no point arguing with this silly boy. Survival is more important—there’s no reason to die like this.
