Chapter 11

The scene that had repeated countless times appeared once again.

A gigantic bird was hunting down Ethan Sutton.

“Damn!”

Ethan Sutton hated avian species the most—they flew incredibly fast, and there was no way to outrun them.

When he encountered land monsters in the past, it was still manageable; sometimes, he even had a chance to escape and wouldn’t always get caught and chewed up by the monsters.

But whenever he ran into flying monsters, he had never escaped—not once. Every time, he was chewed into pulp and woke up in pain from the dream.

He hated these flying creatures!

This time was no exception. The enormous bird was extremely fast, and the terrain obstacles in the dream had no effect on it at all. The two sides were getting closer and closer.

Ethan Sutton ran at full speed while turning his head to look.

He wanted to see if he recognized this bird.

“Huh?”

He glanced at it. There were many avian species, and Ethan Sutton actually only knew a dozen or so, but this time... it felt very familiar!

Although the other party was quite blurry, he could vaguely see a large lump of flesh on its huge head.

“This is... a member of the Ironwing Bird clan!”

“Holy crap, after all these years, I finally ran into a familiar one!”

At this moment, Ethan Sutton was actually a little excited. He knew eighteen languages of the myriad races, but that didn’t mean he had encountered all those races—even in his dreams, he hadn’t met most of them. He just felt a vague sense of familiarity, and since someone at the Nanyuan Intermediate Academy knew these languages, he had learned them.

But as for the Ironwing Bird clan, although he hadn’t met one before, he did know their language!

Among the eighteen languages he had mastered, this was one of them. Someone at the Nanyuan Academy also knew it, because on the Battlefield of the Heavens, this bird clan was often used as air force by the major god and demon clans.

Ethan Sutton hurriedly turned his head and shouted, “维一戏酒云 (Why are you chasing me)?”

The gigantic bird didn’t respond, as if it couldn’t hear him at all, and continued to swoop down.

“路易吉由... (We are friends)!”

Still no response.

Ethan Sutton cursed inwardly. Seeing the huge bird reveal its claws and dive at him, he knew he was about to die again.

It was most likely an Ironwing Bird, but it seemed to have no intelligence—after all, it was just a phantom in a dream.

“Crack!”

Sure enough, a wave of intense pain shot through his head as Ethan Sutton’s head was crushed, and the dream phantom gradually faded away.

Ethan Sutton knew he was about to wake up!

Waking up from pain!

However, just at that moment, the gigantic Ironwing Bird, at the instant it crushed Ethan Sutton’s head, suddenly let out a sharp cry.

“Blood!”

Ethan Sutton was slightly stunned. The next moment, Ethan Sutton abruptly woke up, drenched in sweat.

“Blood... No, not moonlight, it’s blood!”

Ethan Sutton’s eyes widened—he had heard it.

That Ironwing Bird killed him, but ended up furious, because after killing him, it didn’t get what it wanted.

“Blood!”

“It killed me for blood, for blood!”

That was the Ironwing Bird’s language, so Ethan Sutton understood it.

He’d had similar experiences before, but previously he couldn’t understand, because those monsters weren’t among the ones he was familiar with.

This time, he understood!

“Blood!”

“It wants blood—what does that mean?”

“My blood? But sometimes I get injured and bleed, and nothing happens. What does it mean?”

Ethan Sutton had a headache. Ignoring the nightmare he’d just had, his mind started racing.

“It needs blood, but killing me in the dream doesn’t provide it. My blood doesn’t seem to work. Could it be... it has to be blood from its own species?”

“Ironwing Bird blood?”

“If I had Ironwing Bird blood, what would happen?”

“A dream is just a dream—even if I had it, could I really bring it into the dream?”

Ethan Sutton rubbed his temples, his hands slick with sweat.

He couldn’t be bothered with all that. This dream... seemed to be getting clearer. After so many years, it was the first time he felt the dream could be solved.

Learning the myriad races’ languages hadn’t been in vain—even if he only heard one sentence today, it was enough.

“No, I have to try. No matter what, I have to try. If I had Ironwing Bird blood, what would change? Also, once this dream is over, tomorrow it might not be an Ironwing Bird anymore—would Ironwing Bird blood still work?”

“Doesn’t matter!”

Ethan Sutton suddenly sat up. He had made up his mind—he had to give it a try.

After being hunted in his dreams for so many years, he was sick and tired of it. He had to resolve this dream as soon as possible. Otherwise, with something weighing on his mind, anyone would feel awful being killed every night.

“When it’s light, I’ll go check out the Xia Trading Company. They sell everything there—maybe they have Ironwing Bird blood. After all, Ironwing Birds are pretty common on the Battlefield of the Heavens, so maybe I can buy some!”

Having made up his mind, Ethan Sutton had no intention of sleeping anymore. He was eager for dawn—he wanted to go buy Ironwing Bird blood.

Even if there was only a sliver of hope to solve the problem in his dream, it was worth it. He really couldn’t take these days anymore—it was just too exhausting.
