Chapter 1

Chapter One: The Number One Psychic

A convoy of six Audis with military plates slowly stopped in front of the Thunder Division. Inside the car, Andrew Carter looked at the Thunder Division ahead, still feeling a bit nervous.

He glanced at the box placed on his left, took a deep breath—after all, he was a colonel. If this matter succeeded, he could definitely become the youngest general in China before the age of thirty. Besides, he had even invited the deputy commander of the Nanjing Military Region to help this time.

Just thinking about being able to repair the core CPU processor of this latest American sub-light-speed spacecraft made Andrew Carter a little excited. But recalling that pile of scrap metal gave Andrew Carter a headache. It was already beyond the reach of current technology; the only hope was to find that troublemaker from the psychic team—only his repair ability could do it.

Ethan Clark—just thinking of this name gave Andrew Carter a headache. Back then, he had gone to the capital twice, and those princelings in the capital had been dealt with by him more than once. The flashes of thunder in the sky were still fresh in Ethan Clark’s memory. Although he himself was also a princeling and had already become a colonel before thirty, thinking of Ethan Clark still made Andrew Carter feel a twinge of jealousy.

Ethan Clark possessed two psychic abilities, both unique among contemporary psychics. No one else had mastered them. One was the so-called most powerful offensive ability—thunder arts. He could strike those princelings with dozens of bolts of lightning, making them run around like stray dogs, or pierce through over ten meters of concrete in an instant to kill traitors. His other ability, though not as famous as thunder arts, was even stranger: the power of repair. As long as part of an object remained, no matter how badly damaged, he could restore it.

It was a bit of a pity that his repair ability didn’t work on living things, otherwise...

The Thunder Division, headquarters of China’s psychics, was located near the Nanjing Military Region.

“Uncle Foster, thank you for your trouble this time.” Getting out of the car, the person who stepped out of the car in front of Andrew Carter was the deputy commander of the Nanjing Military Region, William Foster, an old subordinate of Andrew Carter’s grandfather.

“Andrew, you’re getting more and more sensible. Don’t worry, the old man has already called. Although the psychic team isn’t under our Nanjing Military Region’s jurisdiction, this little matter shouldn’t be a problem.” William Foster had never dealt with Ethan Clark from the psychic team, but in his view, as a lieutenant general personally asking for such a small favor, it shouldn’t be an issue.

“Where’s your captain?”

“Reporting, sir, the captain is not here.” The deputy captain of the psychic team, Eric Bennett, with the rank of lieutenant colonel.

Eric Bennett didn’t even blink, his demeanor was perfectly standard, but within that standard was a sense of neither arrogance nor servility. They received orders through special channels, and his attitude toward all outsiders was the same—unless there was an order from the captain.

“I order you now to immediately get your captain back.”

“Reporting, sir, I can’t.”

“Lieutenant colonel, do you know who you’re talking to? Do you know what you’re saying?” William Foster was a bit angry—a dignified deputy commander of a military region couldn’t even command a lieutenant colonel.

“Reporting, sir, I am fully aware of what I’m saying. The captain is on a confidential mission. Except for direct superiors and the chairman of the military commission, no one else has the right to inquire. As for me, except for orders from the captain or the military commission, I am not authorized to obey anyone else’s orders. Report complete. Please, sir, immediately step outside the security line. Without the captain’s order, no one is allowed to enter the Thunder Division.”

Screech!!! William Foster was stunned, his old face burning with embarrassment.

Andrew Carter was even more dumbfounded. He had wanted to treat it as an ordinary item repair so that the credit wouldn’t be shared with others. This was a treasure that the Carter family had spent years and private resources to obtain by chance. But seeing the situation, it was impossible to keep it from the other families. He hadn’t expected that Ethan Clark would refuse to listen to anyone. What should he do now?

At the same time, the captain of China’s psychic team, Ethan Clark, was sitting in a BMW sports car with a beautiful woman.

“This little problem is nothing. I don’t even need to open the hood to fix it.” After hearing about the car’s issue, Ethan Clark spoke with absolute confidence.

“How is that possible? The manufacturer sent professional engineers and they couldn’t fix it. They said it had to be sent back to the factory.” The beauty didn’t believe Ethan Clark.

“No need for so much nonsense,” Ethan Clark said with a smile, looking at the beauty. “If I fix it, what will you do?”

The woman with Ethan Clark was none other than world-class supermodel Grace Thompson, who had been rescued by Ethan Clark during a terrifying hijacking three months ago, leading to some interactions since then.

Partly out of disbelief, and partly because she had some feelings for Ethan Clark, Grace Thompson was not to be outdone when she heard this.

She lifted her chin slightly. “If you really can do it, you can do whatever you want tonight.”
