Chapter 11

Olivia Smith and Emily Harris wanted to stop him, but it was already too late. They could only steel themselves and, one on the left and one on the right, closely follow behind Ethan Clark as they charged in together.

In the air, things were relatively obvious—unless they let loose and tried to escape outward, during the past month of wandering here, they had generally moved about on the ground. This was exactly the suggestion from Olivia Smith and Emily Harris: to use the rocks on the ground and the houses left in the town as cover.

Moreover, these mutated animals also fought among themselves, so luring them into fighting each other was also one of the best methods.

But this time, Ethan Clark charged straight in.

They rushed in at incredible speed. The many giant mosquitoes in the air on the outskirts of Misty Town flashed past them, and in the blink of an eye, Ethan Clark and the others had already charged in over a thousand meters.

“Bzzz... bzzz...” The giant mutated mosquitoes, each the size of a fist, finally reacted, crazily swarming in from all directions.

There were simply too many of them. Ethan Clark, Emily Harris, and Olivia Smith formed an arrowhead and charged straight in. Behind and all around them, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands—maybe even more—mosquitoes surged after them, impossible to count.

Olivia Smith and Emily Harris were ready for a fierce battle, but Ethan Clark unleashed a “chain thunderstorm”—over a dozen small thunderstorms linked together crashed down, blasting open a path ahead.

With their incredible speed, they rushed straight through the path Ethan Clark had blasted open. This way, only some mutated mosquitoes on either side could threaten them, and their numbers dropped by dozens of times.

What had seemed like an extremely difficult task suddenly became incredibly simple.

Ethan Clark had already planned to charge through this way. These mutated animals in the air were very intimidating to anyone below the Nascent Soul stage, but posed little threat to Nascent Soul experts. Unlike on the ground, here, as long as your attack power was strong enough, you could pass through quickly just as he had.

If this were on the ground, no matter how strong your attack, it would be hard to advance quickly.

After breaking through the territory of the mutated mosquitoes, next came the domain of mutated bees, each nearly a meter long. This time, Ethan Clark directly used the only defensive move in his thunder techniques, “Thundercloud,” forming a shield to block the ranged attacks of the mutated bees, and charged in at top speed.

To save people, speed is of the essence.

“Master, up ahead is the spiders’ territory...” Emily Harris gripped her sword even tighter. Last time, they had suffered at the hands of these spiders.

The bees behind them no longer gave chase, and within their field of vision ahead, there were no animals in sight.

The airspace of the spiders belonged entirely to the spiders. The mutated spiders were incredibly powerful—even in the air, you couldn’t escape their attacks.

“We’re going down.”

After all these events, Olivia Smith and Emily Harris had begun to adapt to their master’s changes. Though they still had things to say, they followed him down without a word.

“Instantly killing Matthew Cooper, Jacob Wright, blasting apart those mutated mosquitoes bigger than fists, blocking the attacks of mutated bees, and now about to charge head-on into the mutated spiders’ territory—Master is ten times stronger than before... no, even more than that. It’s truly unbelievable. There are countless types of spells, but thunder spells have been lost for ages. Those who know them only use basic five-element thunder or palm thunder—those are ordinary spells you can learn in the Fasting stage, good for fooling mortals, but limited in power. But what Master uses is definitely not those—he’s strong... incredibly strong...” Olivia Smith followed behind Ethan Clark, looking at his master’s back, his heart filled with endless emotion.

But Emily Harris was thinking differently from Olivia Smith at this moment. She felt she could finally breathe deeply and hold her head high. Following such a master, it would be worth it even to die.

“Don’t stop, keep shouting!” Seeing that the two had stopped shouting after landing with him, Ethan Clark reminded them again, while lightning continued to surge along his arm.

Chapter 7: Mutated Spider King (Part 1)

When David Smith first brought his disciples in, they were as careful as could be and still ended up being chased all over by these mutated spiders. Now, Ethan Clark not only descended openly from the sky, but even called out loudly.

These mutated spiders didn’t care about any of that—a swarm of them immediately surrounded them.

“Bang... bang...” A horde of mutated spiders charged over, each more than two meters tall and three or four meters long.

Earlier, with the mutated bees and mosquitoes, Ethan Clark hadn’t wanted to waste too much time and had rushed through as fast as possible. But now, facing the mutated spiders, he had to take action. In his estimation, the most likely place to find the third and fifth brothers was right around here.

With their intelligence, they would definitely be lingering nearby.

“Stand here and don’t move,” Ethan Clark said, then rode his sword up to a height of three or four meters.

Like a rainbow, he charged straight into the swarm of mutated spiders.

“Boom...” His fist, covered in crackling lightning, smashed down and shattered a giant mutated spider.

Using his body to deliver a thunder-charged heavy punch was even more focused and efficient. Thunderstorms were powerful, but also very draining. That mutated spider king—no matter how Ethan Clark thought about it, it seemed too strange. It wasn’t the kind of “demon” usually known in the cultivation world, nor was it an ordinary spider from the mortal world. How could it have changed so much in such a short time?
