Chapter 9

Brian White couldn’t help but curl his lips, muttering to himself, “So it’s just a pair of shameless lovers! Listen to those names, The Parkers! What kind of ridiculous name is that? And that Cynthia Parker—aren’t even the hairs down below dyed green? People from Southern Toad Continent are way trendier than that photography-loving Mr. Brooks from our world. He only likes black abalone. I wonder what this ‘Xuyan Pill’ is? Is it some kind of one-time-use cosmetic pill? If my cheap master actually knows this trick, and I could learn it, that’d be a real money-maker!”

Chapter Seven: “Meteor”

William Parker kept fawning and flattering, his words as sycophantic as a tomcat in heat, saying, “Cynthia Parker, what are you saying? That old ghost John Brooks has powers that reach the heavens—even my master is wary of him. This trip is so dangerous, how could I let you, Fairy, trouble your jade feet? It’s better for you to protect me while I go steal the pill. With my sect’s reputation, even if I get caught, John Brooks wouldn’t dare do much to me. Besides… it might not even be that risky. Back in the day, I had some dealings with David Stone, the sixteenth disciple of that old ghost John Brooks from the Chicheng Immortal Sect. He’s not well-liked under John Brooks, doesn’t even have a decent sword. If I give him a spare yimu flying sword, I’m sure I can convince him to help.”

Brian White heard this Peter Parker boasting, as if his sect was something extraordinary, and was rather surprised. When he heard the man even mention “himself,” he grew curious, thinking, “Could it be that the short-lived ghost has some connection with this Peter Parker? But this Peter Parker is actually trying to trick the short-lived ghost into stealing the Xuyan Pill made by his own master—how devious! Hardly a real friend, more like using him. Even when making friends, the short-lived ghost ends up with this kind of trash. No wonder his life is so miserable.”

Brian White then heard some rather indecent noises. That William Parker insisted on a kiss before agreeing to go, while Cynthia Parker kept hesitating, half-resisting, half-accepting. Just the foreplay for the kiss dragged on for nearly half an hour, making Brian White’s blood boil, unable to control himself, like listening to a live secret recording with no video or audio. Brian White cursed them furiously in his heart, feeling even more disgusted with this shameless pair.

After much hemming and hawing, Cynthia Parker was pinned to the ground by William Parker, who not only kissed her but also groped her chest and legs, doing all sorts of filthy things—just short of actually going all the way. Only because Cynthia Parker coquettishly protested, cursing him several times and kicking and scratching, did she barely manage to keep her bottom line. Even so, William Parker looked extremely satisfied, smacking his lips excitedly as if he’d tasted something delicious.

Brian White kept cursing up a storm in his mind, but could only do so internally, unable to say anything out loud, which left him even more frustrated and depressed.

After tidying up her clothes, Cynthia Parker, seeing that William Parker had already taken plenty of advantage, changed her attitude and said softly, “So, The Parkers, how close are you really with that sixteenth disciple of the Chicheng Sect, David Stone? Will he definitely help?”

William Parker laughed and said, “David Stone may be the sixteenth disciple under John Brooks, but his swordsmanship is the worst. Honestly, I used to look down on him. If it weren’t for wanting to make some connections with the Chicheng Immortal Sect, who would bother with such a loser? I also have a few things on him—he wouldn’t dare refuse me. Even if something goes wrong with the pill theft, I can pin it all on him. After all, he’s John Brooks’s disciple, and whatever happens in the Chicheng Sect is none of our business. Who cares how John Brooks punishes him? At most, he’ll lose his powers, return his flying sword, and get kicked off Chicheng Mountain. A guy like that could cultivate for a thousand years and still be useless. If he goes to the mortal world, maybe he’ll find some peace, maybe even get rich. For him, it might actually be a good thing…”

Down below, Brian White couldn’t help but curse out loud, grinding his teeth in hatred, not knowing how many times he’d already cursed William Parker.

“Screw your ‘good thing’! I’ll screw you over for once, make you lose all your powers, and remind you every day that this is your so-called ‘good thing’… Let you know just how much effort I put in as your friend. The short-lived ghost really knows how to pick friends—these aren’t even fair-weather friends, just a bunch of scum.”

With this explanation, William Parker’s intention to use and discard David Stone was crystal clear. Cynthia Parker didn’t care about David Stone’s fate either, but still felt unsure, so she pressed for details, asking what leverage William Parker had and whether he could really control David Stone. William Parker, unwilling to keep secrets from this vixen, casually revealed a few things, which made Brian White break out in a cold sweat, his hair standing on end, and a murderous intent rising within him.

It turned out that David Stone had once been sent out on an errand for his sect—a rare chance to leave—and that’s when he met William Parker.

At that time, seeing that he was a disciple of the Chicheng Immortal Sect, William Parker set a trap, causing Brian White to accidentally kill two innocent women, making it look like he’d gotten drunk, tried to rape them, and killed them in a rage when he failed. David Stone, a sheltered, old-fashioned homebody with little experience, panicked on the spot and was tricked by William Parker’s words, falling under his control from then on.
