Chapter 17

“Brandon, unfortunately, after you all left, I’ve been practicing hard. As for the SAT, I’ve always only prepared, never reviewed.”

After Yes finished speaking with a smile, Roy’s ears were buzzing.

Time moved to April, and Yes also needed to get ready to enter the NCAA.

And he couldn’t wait to join the NCAA!

His speed training was complete, and his speed potential had maxed out again.

With no way yet to train his explosiveness,

He needed a new star card to boost his potential.

Main Quest: The Second Step to Stardom

Quest Requirement: Become an NCAA player

Quest Reward: One single-draw star card ticket

Quest Status: Incomplete

He needed this single-draw star card ticket.

Last time, after he drew from the Jordan (High School) card pool, the pool changed.

Now the card pool was the James Harden (Houston Rockets) five-star card pool.

Who was James Harden?

He didn’t know.

But he knew that with the NCAA coming up, he was running out of time to improve his new attributes.

This time, he wasn’t so naive. The system’s card pool was too real; he didn’t think he could draw the UP James Harden (Houston Rockets) star card.

Of course, if he could get James Harden, that would be even better.

But if not, he hoped to draw a star card that could boost his jumping attribute, no matter how many stars it had!

April 27, 2005, Wednesday, the deadline for NBA draft registration, Yes had already prepared everything to report to the University of Washington.

And on this very day, Yes saw Roy and the others storm angrily into his rented dorm outside the University of Washington.

“Nate, that bastard, broke his promise and actually signed up for the draft!”

Dramatically, almost at the same time, Yes received a call from his good friend Matt Webster.

“Ye, I’m going to the NBA. A team promised me a high pick, I can’t refuse, I’m really sorry...”

Webster’s words were heard by Roy and the others.

Whether it was Yes or Roy and the others, their faces looked terrible.

What happened to lying down for the championship?

Two star players left—were the five of them supposed to just lie down and lose now?!

Chapter 0011: Let Me Kick Him First!

“Will those two end up fighting later?”

“Don’t worry, impossible, they won’t fight.”

“Even if Ye makes a move, Martell won’t fight back, he wouldn’t dare.”

Seattle’s Alki Beach Park, the sunny May Alki Beach is, in the hearts of Seattleites, as beautiful as any California beach.

Kids kicking soccer balls, couples lying on the sand, elderly people sunbathing on the seawall—everyone’s face was filled with happiness.

But in the restaurant by Alki Beach, Brandon Roy, Will Conroy, Anthony Washington, and Dean Simmons were all anxiously watching Yes not far away.

“Martell is probably one of his few friends in America, right?”

“Not just one of his few friends—his only friend! You all know Ye isn’t very open, he’s cold, his behavior is weird, even those sweethearts who like him get scared off, let alone the guys who just want to be friends.”

“We know Ye well, and aside from not being open, he’s great in every other way. But to others, Ye has always been an untouchable weirdo. But Martell is an exception—he’s never been scared off by Ye.”

“Whether Martell was a nobody before, or now as America’s hottest basketball rising star, his feelings for Ye have never changed, right?”

“Yeah, so I absolutely don’t believe Martell is entering the draft for a higher pick or a bigger rookie contract. Martell isn’t like that jerk Nate!”

“Dean!”

“Brandon, glaring at me won’t help. Am I wrong? I don’t believe you don’t have the same thoughts about Nate in your heart! FUCK, why do you think Anthony and I keep practicing our shots every day even though we can’t play anymore? Is it really for our health? Is it really because the sweethearts like it? And you and Will, you’ve been humbly supporting Nate for three years—was it really because you submitted to him? Wasn’t it because you hoped Nate could bring Ye a national championship when he came to the University of Washington, to resolve his issues? Damn it, that jerk took all the stats and performance we helped him get and ran off. Are you really okay with that?!”

No one wants to be someone else’s stepping stone for free, and Roy certainly didn’t.

At the University of Washington, in Seattle, Roy really wanted to be the boss—no one could stop him.

Dean Simmons and Anthony Washington really wanted to be starters, even if just nominally, and head coach Romar had to respect that.

Because this was Seattle, and they were the Seattle Five Tigers!

If they made a fuss, the fans would unconditionally support them!

But for these three years, they entered the University of Washington together with Nate Robinson.
