Chapter 3

"Are you sure you really don't need me to forge evidence of their tax evasion? If we raid these people's homes, the financial budget of Tianjing City would look fantastic."

"And then Huaxia's economy would collapse... Just focus on driving, and don't tell me your license is fake too."

Ethan Ford's vigilance increased really quickly.

The floating district wasn't large. After passing a few groves, a long, low wall came into view. Behind the wall, surrounded by greenery, was a castle-like mansion—the destination of our trip. Two men in black stood guard at the antique-style main gate, raising their hands to stop my car.

"Can I kill these two eyesores?"

Ethan Ford was already too exhausted to talk to me, silently got out of the car, and showed his credentials to the two men in black. They checked carefully, nodded, and let us through. The two iron gates rumbled open with a heavy scraping sound, revealing a neat, jade-white road. The floating car slowly accelerated and passed through the gate.

Chapter 2: As an expert, I feel powerless in the face of ignorant crowds

In front of the villa's main entrance was a white plaza. Before the fountain at the center, a middle-aged man dressed as a butler stood in line with several servants, waiting.

"This is really overwhelming..."

In the past, those who lined up to greet me were usually soldiers with automatic rifles and murderous looks.

Ethan Ford glanced at me, shook his head, and smiled without saying anything.

After getting out of the car, the butler greeted us with a stiff face, showing little sincerity.

But Ethan Ford was very familiar with this, greeting the butler with a gentle smile. A young servant came over to help me park; when I tossed him the car keys, I saw a trace of disdain on his face.

Judging by appearances, my "Iron Duke" really wasn't much to look at, but I was curious—what right did this kid, a servant, have to look down on me? Even if it's a low-end car, it's still a floating car. With his meager salary, affording one would be excruciating.

As I was pondering whether opening up the kid's chest and stirring his insides with an egg beater might make him smarter, Ethan Ford patted my shoulder and said, "What are you spacing out for? Let's go!"

Inside the mansion, a slightly overweight middle-aged man was waiting at the door, his face beaming with enthusiasm.

"Mr. Ford, Mr. Carter, I've been waiting for you for quite some time."

"Mr. Bennett, you're too kind, you really didn't need to come greet us yourself..."

"Hehe, the rising star of the Tianjing Public Security Bureau—how could I dare be negligent?"

"Oh, you flatter me..."

...

The conversation between these two shameless people forced me to temporarily block out my hearing, lest my killing intent run wild. Human language is meant for communication, but their words were nothing more than meaningless waves in the air—in short, noise.

I turned to examine the mansion's decor. The owner had chosen a European classical style, rich and luxurious in color, with a grand and imposing structure—truly befitting a noble family... Damn these rich people!

A sharp pain in my foot, as if someone had stomped on it hard—Ethan Ford was giving me frantic looks, as if to say, "Say something!"

So those two shameless guys had finally finished spitting and were getting to the point.

"Hello, Mr. Bennett, I am the peerless expert that Ethan Ford went through great trouble to invite. Not only am I highly skilled, but I also value integrity. As long as you offer a reasonable price, I can guarantee that your family won't be harmed by anyone."

Ethan Ford immediately let out a pained groan, but since this concerned my living expenses, I couldn't care less.

The middle-aged man's surprised expression lasted a moment, then he burst out laughing, "Mr. Carter, you really have a sense of humor!"

If you don't pay up, I can be even more humorous. I wonder if you'll still be able to laugh then.

"Don't worry, Mr. Carter, I, Robert Bennett, am definitely not a stingy person!"

So you don't mind if I raise my price a bit more?

This thought was blocked by Ethan Ford's venomous glare.

It's said that Huaxia has a tradition of discussing business at the dining table. I can't verify if that's true, but clearly Robert Bennett believes it, as he had prepared a lavish meal in the dining room—over half the dishes I couldn't even name. By my calculations, this was a very high-level reception.

Standing on either side of the table were three men and two women, whom Robert Bennett introduced one by one as his wife and children, all famous figures in the business world. Ethan Ford put on a flattered expression, warmly greeting each one, while I tried to distinguish the proud, aristocratic faces—in my eyes, they all looked exactly the same.

"This is Mr. Carter, the peerless expert invited by Mr. Ford! Haha!"

...Why is he laughing?

Forget it, never mind, time to introduce myself.

"Thank you, Mr. Bennett, for your objective and fair introduction. I am one of the few peerless experts in Huaxia. Surname Carter, first name confidential, codename Perfect Killer, ranked 56,733 on the Free Lancer Personal Comprehensive Ranking, 722 on the Assassin Ranking. I take on all related assignments, with an excellent reputation and absolute honesty."
