Chapter 7

He had originally thought that the Morningstar would be a large set of training equipment. Eric Thompson had even worried that his room would be too small to fit it. Only after seeing it with his own eyes did he realize that this training machine was actually very compact. Once worn, it was like carrying a cross on his back, completely streamlined to fit the human body.

“Colin, am I wearing this correctly?” Eric Thompson asked curiously.

Colin replied, “According to the design blueprint, you’re wearing it right. The Morningstar system is meant to be carried on the back like a backpack. It’s just that this training device is very light, only one kilogram.”

Eric Thompson nodded vigorously. After all, this was the brand-new cultivation system from Microdust Corporation, and Eric Thompson was quite looking forward to the training results of this system.

Following the manual, Eric Thompson gently pressed the button at his waist.

 Click!

In an instant, Eric Thompson felt as if several bees had stung his back, a slight pain. For some reason, the Morningstar system suddenly extended several steel needles, piercing into the skin on Eric Thompson’s back.

 Whoosh~

A lightweight titanium-alloy visor suddenly extended from behind Eric Thompson, fitting over his eyes. Immediately, it began to display Eric Thompson’s Force test results. It seemed those silver needles were part of the life detector.

The test results were terrible—Eric Thompson’s Force index was only 0.2. Unlike those wealthy people who could consume large amounts of supplements to strengthen their bodies, he was still far from being a qualified Force warrior.

“Force core: break to rebuild, rise from the ashes, become invincible! Suggest accepting Force core recasting?” Eric Thompson muttered to himself, reading the words displayed on the light screen.

 “Colin, what does this mean?”

“The Force core is the source of all Force, existing within everyone’s body. It seems your test results aren’t very good, so this training system thinks you need to recast your Force core.”

“What about ‘break to rebuild, become invincible’?” Eric Thompson asked again.

“Isn’t recasting the Force core exactly that—breaking to rebuild? I’m searching the StarNet for information. According to the data, in the history of human Force cultivation, it seems no one has ever used this method of recasting the Force core. It should be an original innovation by Microdust Corporation.”

“According to the manual, after the Force core is recast, it will maximize the warrior’s potential, making them an overwhelmingly powerful genius. And the lower your Force value, the lower the risk of recasting. Since your Force index is only 0.2, that’s probably why the Morningstar system suggests you recast your Force core.”

Ever since Colin arrived, Eric Thompson had become very lazy, leaving all the tedious tasks like reading manuals to Colin.

 Break to rebuild, become invincible!?

 Maximize Force potential!?

These two phrases really struck a chord with Eric Thompson. Who wouldn’t want to become a warrior? Who wouldn’t want to become a lofty genius warrior!? The temptation of breaking to rebuild was simply irresistible for Eric Thompson!

Gritting his teeth, Eric Thompson said in a low voice, “As the saying goes, to reap the greatest rewards, you must take the greatest risks. Break to rebuild? Very well, I accept!”

Without further discussion with Colin, Eric Thompson directly pressed the accept button on the light screen.

Chapter 4: Break to Rebuild

In the morning, when Eric Thompson woke up, he found Colin staring at him.

This little guy could change its form—sometimes appearing as a smart watch, sometimes as a walking robot. Its expressions were displayed through the light screen on its liquid metal surface. At this moment, Colin looked very worried.

“What’s wrong with me?” Eric Thompson asked, rubbing his head. He couldn’t remember what had happened the previous night. It seemed he had just clicked the confirm button for recasting the Force core, then fell asleep, and woke up with a headache.

Colin obediently changed back into the form of a smart watch, lying quietly on Eric Thompson’s wrist, and said, “After the Morningstar system was activated, your Force core was shattered. That damned Morningstar system—it seems to have performed a nano-level Force core recasting surgery on you.”

“It was really dangerous at the time. Countless invisible nanobots entered your body from the Morningstar system, directly destroying and then repairing your Force core. This technology is truly terrifying.”

“The reason you lost consciousness was also intentional by the system. It gave you precise anesthesia, so you didn’t feel any pain during the whole process. It was as if you just slept, and when you woke up, your Force core was already brand new—the original one had been destroyed.”

Eric Thompson was slightly stunned. He stood up and checked his body in the mirror, only to see that there were indeed some small red dots left by the Morningstar system on his back, like mosquito bites. After a night, only faint marks remained.

He picked up the Morningstar device from the floor. The device now seemed completely discarded. It had originally weighed one kilogram, but now, like a cicada shedding its first shell, only an empty shell remained. Eric Thompson tossed it lightly, and it flew quite high.

Frowning slightly, Eric Thompson said, “This device has become so light. Where did all the original weight go?”
