Simply put, anti-gravity shoes are a type of footwear that can shield against gravity, making a person lighter and reducing the pull of Earth's gravity.
In the universe, some planets have very strong gravity. If humans stand on them without any equipment, they would be crushed into a meat patty by the gravitational force. That’s why all kinds of anti-gravity shoes are sold on the StarNet, with prices ranging from dozens of star coins to tens of thousands.
Eric Thompson carefully considered his situation. The StarNet is like an inexhaustible gold mine. Since he doesn’t have any star coins and can’t buy finished products directly from the StarNet, making some money on Earth using advanced technology from the StarNet isn’t a bad idea—it could at least solve his problem of putting food on the table.
In Eric Thompson’s view, anti-gravity shoes are an excellent project. With these shoes, even a frail girl could run 100 meters in under ten seconds, faster than a professional sprinter!
As the old saying goes, in all martial arts, speed is the only unbreakable technique!
These anti-gravity shoes, which can greatly enhance a warrior’s speed and jumping ability, are just too amazing! Eric Thompson couldn’t help but get excited at the thought of wearing such shoes himself.
Moving at lightning speed, leaping over high walls in a single bound—he’d be even more impressive than the legendary martial arts masters who could run on walls and rooftops!
Beep beep beep~
Colin let out a crisp sound. Eric Thompson knew the little guy was analyzing and searching for information on both the StarNet and Earth’s internet, then processing it to assess the feasibility of producing anti-gravity shoes.
“Master, creating a simple gravity-shielding magnetic field isn’t difficult, because this technology requires powerful electrical support, and Earth’s current research on electricity has already reached the same level as other civilizations in the star domain. It’s one of Earth’s few strengths.”
“But manufacturing an anti-gravity magnetic field requires a special metal called Kyiv alloy. There’s only a small output of it on Earth, all of which is used in military applications. If we can get enough Kyiv metal, we could use it to make basic anti-gravity shoes.”
“Whole pieces of Kyiv alloy all go to the military, and it’s not sold on the market. But I might be able to get some Kyiv alloy scrap. Even though it’s just metal fragments, it should be enough to make anti-gravity shoes.”
As soon as Eric Thompson heard this, he immediately urged Colin to find this Kyiv alloy and to use the StarNet to gather information and design the mechanical blueprints for the anti-gravity shoes. In just over an hour, Colin really came up with a feasible plan.
Looking at the clock, it was 10 p.m. Eric Thompson couldn’t suppress his excitement, put on his clothes, and went to the front yard to find the old factory director from the machinery plant, Kyle ScottMr. Scott.
……
Just as he reached the entrance of Mr. Scott’s building, he heard someone angrily shouting, “You blind old fool! I’m buying your machinery plant’s land to give you a way out! You jobless paupers, as long as I’m around, don’t even think about building a single house on Jinan’s land!”
“Get out of here!” Immediately after, Mr. Scott’s angry voice came from upstairs.
A middle-aged man in a suit, driving a luxury car, stormed off angrily. Eric Thompson curiously went upstairs and said to the pale-faced Mr. Scott, “Who was that?”
“Beverly Young, a real estate developer. He’s got his eye on our old factory site and wants to develop it into a real estate project. Don’t mind him, Eric Thompson, come on in.” said Mr. Scott.
Eric Thompson frowned slightly and entered Mr. Scott’s home.
Mr. Scott’s home was exactly the same as Eric Thompson’s—not even seventy square meters, two bedrooms and a living room, an old house built decades ago, and the rooms were bare and shabby.
The machinery plant had declared bankruptcy just a couple of years after the Day of Fall. The people living in the plant were all laid-off workers. Although the Earth Republic was later established and unemployment benefits were much higher than in the old days, it was still just enough to get by. The old folks in the plant lived pretty modestly.
This factory site was the last asset of the entire machinery plant. Now, with Earth’s population rapidly increasing and a large influx of immigrants from the Americas and Australia, real estate had become an even more lucrative business than before. It wasn’t surprising that someone wanted to buy this old factory site to build houses.
Sighing, Eric Thompson glanced at Mr. Scott’s dimly lit home and said in a low voice, “Mr. Scott, honestly, holding onto this land isn’t a solution. Why not sell it to them? The old folks in the yard are all having a hard time. If everyone got a share, they could at least live a bit easier for a couple of years.”
Mr. Scott was still angry, his hands trembling as he lit a cigarette and looked out the window. “Eric Thompson, it’s not that I don’t understand, but these developers have no conscience! The land is worth tens of millions, but that guy Yu is only willing to pay eight million. There are hundreds of people in the plant, and each would only get a little over ten thousand. It’s just too unfair!”
“I got the old workers in the yard to pool some money together, hoping to build the apartments ourselves so we wouldn’t have to put up with those bastards. That way, everyone could get a bigger share. By the way, you’re included too. Even though your parents are gone, they were both old hands at the plant, and no one’s forgotten. But guess what happened?”
“What happened?” Eric Thompson asked curiously.
Eric Thompson couldn’t help but feel a bit moved. He wasn’t even a worker at the plant, yet everyone still remembered him.
