Chapter 12

“There are indeed difficulties.” Ronald’s words reached Samuel Hill’s ears: “We are facing a certain funding gap, but I am confident I can resolve it through financing.”

Ten million dollars was a carefully considered choice—higher than the investment in the previous film, but not by too much.

Samuel Hill frowned slightly and began to think, so much so that he didn’t hear the following questions at all.

Without money, a movie simply can’t be made. For a project that leans toward Arabs, a lack of funds would inevitably doom it.

Thinking of the Arab reversal and salvation in the script, Samuel Hill felt that this movie really should be made.

He had been in Los Angeles for nearly three months without achieving anything. The cultural and entertainment industry investment survey he was responsible for had made no progress at all, thanks to the exclusion by those Hollywood Jews.

Could this be a breakthrough?

Since he had chosen to come out and get things done, he had to achieve something for people to see. Otherwise, how was he any different from those loafers in Abu Dhabi who just waited around for their paychecks?

Unfortunately, he didn’t have any money in hand, nor did he have the authority to make decisions on large sums.

Samuel Hill was responsible for investment investigation, not for making investment decisions.

Hollywood movies have a wide influence and involve the image of Arabs, so he didn’t dare make a rash decision.

After the press conference ended, the reporters quickly left. Samuel Hill found Ronald and decided to have a good talk with this guy who really appealed to him.

In the lounge, Samuel Hill revealed his identity. Ronald and the others had already rehearsed for this, so at first they seemed a bit surprised, then delighted.

Everything was very natural.

Samuel Hill asked directly, “Ronald, have you ever considered seeking investment in the Arab world?”

Ronald didn’t pretend, and asked with surprise, “Are you representing the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority?” He looked at Samuel Hill: “Do you want to invest in my movie?”

Samuel Hill quickly shook his head. “No, no, the amount is too high. I don’t have that much authority. But I can recommend you to go to Abu Dhabi, in the name of the Investment Authority.”

“Really?” Ronald saw Samuel Hill nod and said, “It’s great that you’re willing to help. This solves my biggest problem.”

But Samuel Hill smiled and said, “No need to thank me. Your movie is speaking up for Arabs.”

“Thank you.” Ronald was very sincere.

Samuel Hill waved his hand. “I can only make the introduction. Whether you can persuade the people in Abu Dhabi to invest, I can’t guarantee. Ronald, you’d better have a plan.”

Ronald quickly stood up, searched for a moment, took a proposal out of his briefcase, and handed it to Samuel Hill: “This is the plan I prepared for my trip to Germany.”

Samuel Hill had heard Ronald mention before that he was planning to go to Germany to seek investment. He took the document and looked it over. Although he didn’t fully understand it, he could tell it was a very thorough proposal.

It was obvious that Ronald had done a lot of feasible work for this project.

This young man really seemed quite reliable.

At this moment, Ronald said, “My father used to work with Germans, so I plan to use those old connections to organize a film investment promotion event in Germany.”

Whether it was this proposal or everything before, it all made Samuel Hill feel that Ronald had put a lot of effort into this project.

Compared to those loafers in Abu Dhabi, this Ronald Anderson was truly someone who wanted to accomplish something.

“How’s this plan?” Ronald asked.

Samuel Hill returned the proposal and said vaguely, “It’s not bad.”

Ronald asked again, “Would it work to move it to Abu Dhabi?”

Samuel Hill thought for a moment and said, “It should be fine. The Investment Authority can assist you. However, some details regarding food and other aspects will need to be changed.”

“Don’t worry.” Ronald nodded and said, “We will respect the customs of our Arab brothers.”

If he could secure investment, even switching to a vegetarian diet over there wouldn’t be a problem.

Samuel Hill gave a few more instructions and soon left the hotel.

After the press conference ended and he returned to the company, Ronald held another brief meeting—a full company mobilization.

Starting tomorrow, Mary would assist Samuel Hill with the paperwork, George would keep an eye on media publicity, and Robert would prepare all the necessary materials.

Although he’d heard that oil tycoons didn’t care about money and was using Samuel Hill, a bona fide royal, as a guide, Ronald didn’t dare be careless. If you want people to invest, you have to be as thorough as possible.

What he was preparing was indeed a scam, but the film project itself was real.

All the preliminary work was done with utmost authenticity.

All the company’s documents, tax records, past films, proof of membership in the Producers Guild, related media reports, and so on—Ronald prepared everything accordingly.

The next day, when the media reports came out, he specifically bought some newspapers with relevant coverage.

Although the Los Angeles Times only had a tiny article, being one of the top three newspapers in the US was still very impressive.

Even though the scale and impact of the report weren’t great, it still had some effect. The most direct result was that more than a dozen agents sent director and actor resumes to Sahara Entertainment.

Some people even called to inquire about backstage job openings.

Of course, Ronald wouldn’t hire directors or backstage teams just yet. Everything would have to wait until after the trip to Abu Dhabi.
