Chapter 17

Note: The early weapon used by the legendary mercenary king Amy, although included in the Armory of the War of the Gods, was in fact rarely used by the mercenary king during the actual War of the Gods.

Like everyone who has been petrified for the first time, the just-unfrozen Amy immediately fell to the ground. A withered hand pulled Amy up from the floor.

“Half a year ago, I met your father at the Tower of Ice Wishes, and we fought side by side for three months.” The old mage’s words were astonishing. Amy was stunned on the spot.

Ethan Brooks, who was also just released from the spell, rubbed his butt and got up from the ground: “Mister Mage, how should I address you?”

“Court Archmage of the Amy Empire, magic instructor to the fifty-third emperor of the Amy Empire, Leha IV—Greg. No need to bow to me, even though I’m of a higher generation than Edward Brooks. By the way, what year is it in the Red Moon calendar now?

I just came out of the Tower of Wishes and found that many things have changed. Alas, a day in the tower, a hundred years in the world.” The old mage sighed deeply.

The nobles, who had no intention of kneeling anyway, simply went along, answering the question while trying to get more information from the old mage. “Oh, so you really are of a high generation, but time is merciless, and in the world of adventurers, there’s no such thing as generations. It’s best if we each mind our own, otherwise it gets too complicated. It’s now the year 199 of the Red Moon calendar.”

“Ninety-three years... I’ve been cultivating in the Tower of Wishes for ninety-three years~~”

Ninety-four years ago, the court archmage Greg requested to enter the Tower of Wishes to explore unknown magical realms. Only after entering did he realize he had stepped into a completely unknown domain.

Ten years ago, Greg’s friend Barnes entered the Tower of Wishes and has not come out since, so Gray hoped to find his old friend after entering. When Greg pushed open the door of the Tower of Wishes, he discovered that inside was another world of ice and snow—though the tower was very tall, with thirteen floors, upon entering, he found the sky still had a sun, distant ice mountains, and snowflakes falling from the sky. There were no roads or buildings, and when he tried to leave,

he realized—where was the door?

A faint smile appeared at the corner of the old mage’s mouth: “It took me a long time to understand the true meaning of the Tower of Wishes’ trial. Whenever a mage enters the tower, a separate barrier appears, matching the tower’s attribute.”

In this world, all mages are divided into three attributes, and each forms contracts with six different types of elemental spirits, using their power to perform magic. Magic is divided into five levels. Any mage can use first-level magic of any attribute. For example, even an apprentice ice mage can not only use first-level ice magic, but also flexibly use first-level fire, wind, water, and other magics. Moreover, an apprentice ice mage should be proficient in second-level ice magic. When they can freely use third-level ice magic, they can be certified as a second-level mage. If they can freely use fourth-level ice magic and can also use second-level magic of other neutral attributes (for example, ice, water, and wind all belong to neutral attributes), then they can become a first-level mage. With enough practice and talent, once they master fifth-level magic, they become an archmage.

Becoming an archmage is like reaching the wasteland of magical cultivation—there seems to be no higher magic to pursue, and more than eighty percent of archmages keep this title until their graves. Fewer than twenty percent of archmages attempt the Tower of Wishes trial.

Mages who have never entered the Tower of Wishes will never know the content of the trial, and those who have exited the tower, having signed a silent contract with the elemental spirits, will absolutely never reveal its secrets.

In fact, after entering the Tower of Wishes, within a separate attribute barrier, every day, every hour, every moment, the mage breathes with the world of that attribute, gaining experience in that world. When the mage fully merges with this world, they possess it—they can create their own magical domain of that attribute.

“So now you can create your own magical domain?” Amy asked anxiously.

A smile appeared in the old mage’s squinting eyes. He extended a finger, and a tiny snowflake instantly appeared on it. Immediately, heavy snow began to fall throughout the treehouse tavern, as if the snow was naturally leaking from the roof. When everyone looked up in amazement, the snowflakes disappeared as suddenly as they had come.

Magic of the same attribute, such as wind or water, will be enhanced within this domain of ice, while the power of ice magic will increase by more than 100% in both attack and defense. Magic of different attributes, such as fire or earth, will be weakened in the domain of ice; some first- and second-level spells cannot be cast at all within the domain of ice.
