Chapter 13

However, William Carter thought for a moment and still decided to replace George Adams with a wizard. — After all, his current identity was that of a magic apprentice.

So, under the eager anticipation of little ones like Little Ivy, George and his companions traveled through time and space, following William Carter into this world.

Of course, William Carter began by telling the first chapter of "Journey to the West," whose original title is "The Spiritual Root Nurtures the Source, the Mind Cultivates the Great Way." It tells of the birth of the Stone Monkey on Flower-Fruit Mountain, then the Stone Monkey showing his abilities and becoming king among the monkeys. After enjoying a leisurely time as the Handsome Monkey King, he still felt unsatisfied and sought the way to immortality. He then traveled over mountains and rivers, arriving at "Spirit Platform, Cave of the Slanting Moon and Three Stars," and became a disciple of Patriarch Bodhi.

Within just one chapter, the story twists and turns, the scenes shift, and each scene is quite captivating.

Pity these children, pure as blank paper—before William Carter even got to the birth of the Stone Monkey, they were already excited just at the beginning. That was because William Carter mentioned, "Between heaven and earth, 129,600 years make up one yuan. One yuan is divided into twelve hui, and each hui is 10,800 years."

"129,600 years, wow!" The chubby Dick White raised his fist in excitement. Who knows what he was so excited about.

The other children were also chattering away, making quite a lively scene.

Next, William Carter skipped over the original book’s content about Pangu creating heaven and earth, and went straight to saying that after 5,400 years, and another 5,400 years, and yet another 5,400 years, the continent they were on was divided into four parts: the Eastern Continent, Western Continent, Southern Continent, and Northern Continent.

Unsurprisingly, these three mentions of 5,400 years caused another round of amazement. A little one named Mark Adams was even counting on his fingers, trying to figure out how many centuries 5,400 years made.

"William Carter gege, which continent are we on?" Little Ivy blinked her big eyes and asked.

"We? We should be on the Western Continent. But the story I’m telling happened a very, very, very long time ago, so what’s in the story might not be quite the same as what we have now!"

Some of the little ones nodded, half-understanding.

"So, on the Eastern Continent, overseas, there was a country called Aolai. This country was near the sea..."

William Carter had just gotten to this part when he was interrupted again. "William Carter big brother, what is the sea?" a little one asked.

"You’ve seen little rivers, right? The sea is a river that’s much, much, much bigger—millions of times bigger than an ordinary river!" William Carter explained.

"Wow!"

Sure enough, this explanation caused another round of amazement.

"In this sea, there is a famous mountain called Flower-Fruit Mountain. You know about magic elements, right? This mountain is the source of all magic elements in the world." William Carter improvised based on the original book, not knowing that this offhand adaptation before even getting to the main story would one day bring him great adventures and changes!

This was something he could never have imagined at the time.

Then William Carter elaborated on the original book’s description of Flower-Fruit Mountain: "Its power dominates the vast ocean, its might calms the Jade Sea. Its power dominates the vast ocean, tides surge like silver mountains and fish enter the caves; its might calms the Jade Sea, waves roll like snowy billows and mirages leave the abyss. Water and fire pile up high at the corners, at the place of the Eastern Sea rises a lofty peak. Crimson cliffs and strange rocks, sheer walls and marvelous peaks. On the crimson cliffs, phoenixes sing in pairs; before the sheer walls, a qilin lies alone. At the peak, one often hears golden pheasants cry; in the stone caves, dragons are often seen coming and going. In the forest are long-lived deer and immortal foxes; in the trees are spiritual birds and black cranes. Rare herbs and strange flowers never wither, green pines and cypresses are evergreen. Immortal peaches bear fruit often, tall bamboo always holds clouds. A ravine thick with vines, all around the dikes the grass is fresh. Truly, it is the pillar that holds up the meeting of all rivers, the unshakable root of the earth through ten thousand calamities." This vivid description of Flower-Fruit Mountain drew waves of amazement and longing.

Next came the birth of the Stone Monkey!

"At the very top of that mountain, there was a magical stone. The stone was three zhang, six chi, and five cun tall, and two zhang, four chi in circumference. Three zhang, six chi, and five cun in height correspond to the 365 degrees of the celestial sphere; two zhang, four chi in circumference correspond to the 24 solar terms. On it were nine orifices and eight holes, corresponding to the nine palaces and eight trigrams. There were no trees shading it on any side, but there were orchids and fragrant herbs all around. Since the beginning of the world, it had absorbed the essence of heaven and earth, the sun’s brilliance and the moon’s glow, and after a long time, it developed spiritual awareness. Inside, it nurtured a magical embryo.

One day, it split open and produced a stone egg, as big as a ball. When it met the wind, it turned into a stone monkey. It had all five senses and four limbs complete. It immediately learned to crawl and walk, bowing to the four directions. Its eyes shot out two beams of golden light, piercing the Palace of the Pole Star. This startled the Supreme Celestial Emperor, the Great Merciful Jade Emperor, who sat in the Golden Palace of the Cloud Palace in the Lingxiao Hall, and gathered the immortal officials to see the blazing golden light. He immediately ordered Clairvoyant and Ears That Hear the Wind to open the Southern Heavenly Gate and look.

The two generals followed the order, went outside, saw clearly and listened carefully, and soon reported back: 'By your order, I observed the place where the golden light appeared. It is in the territory of the small country of Aolai, east of the Eastern Continent, on Flower-Fruit Mountain. On the mountain, there is a magical stone, which produced an egg, and when it met the wind, it became a stone monkey. It is bowing to the four directions, its eyes shooting golden light toward the Palace of the Pole Star. Now it is eating and drinking, and the golden light is fading.' The Jade Emperor kindly said, 'Things of the lower world, born of the essence of heaven and earth, are nothing out of the ordinary.'"

Of course, when William Carter was telling the story, the "Eastern Continent" replaced "Eastern Victory Divine Continent," and the "Jade Emperor" became the "Great Radiant Divine King"!

By this point, the little listeners were already bubbling with excitement, each one jumping for joy.
