Chapter 9

"Pat, this is the second volume of Harry Potter. After you get back, hand it over to the 'Alien Entity' publishing house. This is 'The Sixth Sense,' a movie script. You can take a look first, and if possible, make several copies and send them to all the major film companies." He handed over the two manuscripts directly. It's hard for newcomers to make it in Hollywood, so he might as well bombard them with scripts. Now that he had an agent, he could leave these errands to her.

"Script... script?" Goldsley was a bit surprised. She quickly flipped through it, and the more she read, the brighter her eyes became. She gradually realized that she might have struck gold. "Leave it to me. Actually, I have some connections with the major film companies."

So fate hasn't treated me too badly after all! Ryan couldn't help but twitch the corners of his mouth. Having connections is much better than blindly submitting scripts. He really shouldn't underestimate Pat Goldsley.

As they were leaving, Goldsley glanced at that suitcase again, her lips twitching uncontrollably. Could it be that it's full of manuscripts of this caliber?

Chapter 5 Audition

Compared to London, Los Angeles, where he had lived for seven years, felt even more unfamiliar to Ryan. The apartment from back then, after some new furniture was added, once again became home for him and Nicole Carter. All things considered, both he and Nicole Carter had quite a bit of money on hand, but finding a suitable house wasn't easy, especially since Nicole Carter was set on living in Beverly Hills.

"Damn it, women changing clothes is such a hassle!"

Watching as half an hour slipped by, Ryan sat waiting on the living room sofa, muttering to himself.

Goldsley, sitting across from him, just smiled. The two had already signed a formal contract, and after half a month of working together, she gradually got to know Ryan's situation. She knew he was both smart and mature for his age—she couldn't treat him like a child at all. Sometimes, she even felt like she was talking to a peer.

Ryan glanced at the clock on the wall, feeling a bit bored, and turned to his agent. "Pat, is there any feedback on the script yet?"

"Don't worry, Ryan, I handed the script to Harvey Weinstein myself. I have some connections with those two brothers. Whether they accept it or not, they'll let me know right away."

Goldsley had read the script carefully. Although she was an outsider when it came to screenwriting, a good story always resonates with people. In her opinion, unless the Weinstein brothers had lost their minds, they would definitely see the value in this script.

Sighing, Ryan realized he was being a bit impatient. Still, Goldsley's wide network of connections truly impressed him.

Since that was the case, Ryan was happy to let her handle things. As for Nicole Carter, she could just focus on being a movie star.

"Ryan." From another room came Nicole Carter's voice. "Why is my shoe cabinet locked? Have you seen the key?"

"Nope." Ryan instinctively touched the brass key in his pocket and flatly denied it.

"Damn! Am I supposed to go to the audition in slippers?" Nicole Carter's slightly angry voice came from the room again. Ryan's eyes darted, and he called out loudly, "Nicole Carter, isn't there a pair of new shoes you bought yesterday in the cabinet by the door?"

"Really? I don't remember that."

Nicole Carter, wearing light makeup, patted her head and walked out of the room, opened the shoe cabinet by the entrance, and took out a pair of high heels. The heels were a full four inches high, long and sharp—just Nicole Carter's favorite.

After putting on the high heels, Nicole Carter looked even taller. Ryan showed a faint smile—he had carefully picked out those shoes and put them there, hoping they'd come in handy.

The audition was at Paramount. Just in case, Ryan used his child privileges and insisted on riding in the car. Facing Nicole Carter's questioning, he argued confidently, "I just want to see what an audition is like. Besides, the film company doesn't say you can't bring anyone other than your agent to the audition."

Sitting in the back seat of the moving car, Nicole Carter couldn't shake the feeling that Ryan was up to something. After living together for so long, she had a sharp intuition about his behavior, but no matter how she thought about it, she couldn't spot anything wrong.

On the bench outside the audition room, the three of them waited quietly. Ryan overheard a few staff members talking and realized that Tom Cruise was actually the screenwriter for this movie. Thinking about it, it made sense—this kind of cool, stylish film that showcased the idol's personal charm was exactly Tom's usual style.

Ryan shook his head. Because Nicole Carter had performed in stage plays in London for over a year, her acting skills at this point were much better than in his previous life. If she still landed the female lead in this movie, she could make a name for herself in Hollywood, but the "flower vase" label would probably stick even more. That wouldn't be a good thing. She was already too beautiful, and if she got saddled with that label, she might end up repeating her old path.

"Ryan, stay here with Pat and behave yourself! Don't cause trouble!" Before entering the audition room, Nicole Carter didn't forget to remind him. Clearly, over the past two years, Ryan had caused plenty of mischief.
