Chapter 7

The temporary mission on the watch also disappeared at the same time, and the deadly threat finally receded for now.

Henry Clark heard the sound of a door being pushed open. The butler called Walter pushed open a large door, revealing a huge office inside. A massive desk faced the entrance, and against the light, one could vaguely make out the silhouette of a person sitting behind the desk, a cigarette in their mouth, scrutinizing everyone with a piercing gaze.

“Miss Integral, these are the guardians introduced by Mr. Alcott before he left,” the butler said with a bow. “The round table meeting will begin in five minutes, please be mindful of the time. As for that sudden incident, please leave it to me…”

“Very well, Walter, I’ll leave the Swedish matter to you.” A stern female voice came from behind the desk. “There’s no need to worry about security here. Even if you, Alcott, and Silas are absent, the Hellsing headquarters will never become a place for petty criminals to invade at will.”

“Yes.” The butler nodded with a smile and silently exited the room. Moments later, the sound of a helicopter departing could be heard from the rooftop.

After the butler Walter left, Integral leaned back in her large chair, quietly smoking a cigar. But even Henry Clark could feel the sharp gaze sweeping over him.

“To be honest, I have doubts about your abilities,” said the mature woman Integral, who possessed a queenly aura, in a serious tone. “Except for the two in front, the rest of you probably couldn’t even defeat the soldiers I’ve recruited. A fat man, a young girl, and even a blind person…”

“Please rest assured, we will guarantee your safety,” Uncle Clark said with a bow. “Please trust in our abilities.”

“I trust Alcott’s judgment more. Since you were recommended by him before he left, naturally I won’t distrust you. I’m just a bit puzzled.” Integral stubbed out her cigarette in the ashtray and stood up. “Now, please go to your posts. I need to attend a meeting.”

“Miss Integral, we’ve received information that in about…” Uncle Clark glanced at the countdown on his wrist, “twenty minutes, there will be an attack here. So, we hope to obtain partial command over the guards…”

“Newly arrived guardians telling me there will be an enemy attack here in twenty minutes? And you want to take over part of the command of the guards…” Integral let out a strange laugh, her voice full of mockery. “Boasting is a grave sin.”

“Truth or falsehood, we’ll know in twenty minutes. But by then, I’m afraid it will already be too late.” Uncle Clark stepped forward, completely unfazed by her mockery. Looking at Integral’s face, the usual slyness and teasing had vanished, and he faced her mocking and stern gaze without fear.

After a moment of silence, Integral picked up the microphone, said a few words, then looked up, her eyes cold and sharp. “In twenty minutes, if what you say turns out to be a lie, then I hope to hear the sound of you swallowing your guns in the conference room.”

“Everyone, cherish the trust you’ve earned with your lives.” Integral drew out another cigar and slowly lit it. “Now, you may leave.”

After the large doors closed again, Henry Clark heard Grace Brooks let out a sigh of relief. He looked down and asked, “Is that woman really that scary? Why are you so afraid?”

“It felt like I was about to be eaten just now, it was really terrifying…” Grace Brooks clung to his sleeve. Clearly, this timid girl had been utterly defeated by Integral’s queenly aura.

After all, she’s the kind of terrifying woman who, even when facing enemies several times her number and surrounded by vampire armies, can still draw her sword with composure and face them without fear.

In the original story, even the religious fanatic, Father Alexander Anderson, couldn’t help but feel admiration for such an enemy.

Ignoring her feminine appearance, Integral’s presence and character are in no way inferior to any hero.

“Even though I can’t see, I can still feel that lady’s powerful aura. She really is scary.”

Henry Clark comforted her in a low voice, “Don’t worry, it’ll be fine.”

“Phew… that woman is really tough to deal with.” The middle-aged man Uncle Clark scratched his face and said, “But luckily, we managed to secure some support. Otherwise, if just a few of us had to defend this whole building, it would be impossible.”

“So what now?” John Baker leaned against the wall, his strange gaze sweeping over everyone. “Newcomer, when the vampires charge in, what do we do? It’s up to you to decide.”

The middle-aged man Uncle Clark thought for a moment, then looked up and said, “Everyone has their own ambitions. I won’t force you. If you’re willing to stick with us, after the scenario ends, I’ll pay five hundred points as a protection fee. If you don’t want to stay with me, you can find your own way. We absolutely won’t stop you.”

John Baker wanted to say something, but was stopped by Uncle Clark. For some reason, this middle-aged man gave off an unreliable vibe, and his words didn’t inspire much trust.

“Um… well…” The thin middle-aged man Samuel Harris mustered his courage and asked, “Is it really okay to leave?”
