Paul Young's hands were busy too, carrying loads of stuff. With the care of the two "men," Sophie only had a small backpack on her shoulders.
Carrying all their belongings, Paul Young looked up at the school name shining in the morning sun and murmured, "I can't believe we've actually come here..."
"Yeah, I didn't expect you to come here too!" Maybe still holding a grudge from that smack on the back of his head earlier, Jason Bolton seized every chance for revenge.
"You..."
Sure enough, Paul Young lifted his leg.
"Hey, hey! You two, stop messing around!" Sophie said, half laughing, half exasperated.
As the start of the semester approached, more and more students arrived to register. The school had set up special help desks for new students all over campus, and the one at the main gate was the most popular. On this busy and chaotic morning, no one would have noticed a few more freshmen, but Sophie's pleasant voice was like a flock of startled birds in the campus, drawing everyone's attention. Then all the boys felt as if spring had arrived, flowers were blooming, the sun was shining, and for a moment, the air was filled with birdsong and the fragrance of blossoms...
A stunning beauty! There's such a beautiful girl among this year's freshmen!
That was probably what everyone who saw Sophie was thinking.
At that moment, a tall boy who had been sitting behind a desk labeled "New Student Information" stood up and walked toward Sophie.
"Excuse me, do you need any help?"
Ignoring the two who were still running around with their bags, Sophie looked up at this helpful person. He was really tall, about 1.85 meters, she guessed. "Ah, and you are?"
"Oh, I'm here to help new students. My name is Shawn Thompson." He pointed back at the desk, and following his gesture, Sophie saw a long table with a "New Student Information" sign on the front.
The others sitting behind the table saw Sophie looking over and quickly waved and smiled in greeting. In their hearts, though, they were cursing: "Damn! Shawn Thompson beat us to it! What a miscalculation!"
"That's great!" Sophie clapped her hands, a gesture that looked incredibly cute to Shawn Thompson. "We need to report to Department 25 and the History Department, but we don't know the way." Sophie stuck out her tongue in embarrassment, and Shawn Thompson felt something in his chest shatter.
He nodded eagerly, "I know! I've been here for three years—could find my way with my eyes closed! I'll take you... Oh, where's your luggage?" He looked at the lightly packed Sophie.
Sophie glanced around; the other two had already chased each other to the front of the administration building.
"Jason Bolton! Paul Young!" This time, it was more than just startling a flock of birds; her voice seemed to linger in everyone's ears.
The two fools, as everyone saw them, obediently returned to Sophie's side.
Sophie didn't even need to say anything. The group who had been sitting behind the table all rushed over, surrounding Jason Bolton and Paul Young.
"I'll take the suitcase!"
"Nonsense! You're holding the backpack, let me carry the heavy stuff!"
"Don't fight me for it! I'm a senior!"
"You stay here and watch the table, we'll be right back!"
"What? Why don't you stay yourself?"
"Everyone, stop fighting! There's enough for everyone!"
...
In no time at all, everything Jason Bolton and Paul Young were carrying was gone. Some people ended up with just a small plastic bag, while four others shared a not-so-big suitcase, all heading off together.
The two fools hesitated for a moment, then followed along.
Filling out forms, paying fees, registering, picking up dorm keys, collecting bedding... there was always someone to help carry things. Sophie enjoyed the leisure, walking at the front of the group, while Shawn Thompson introduced her to the campus along the way.
That old-looking building is Classroom Building 1. The newer one is Classroom Building 2. The one with the artistic vibe is the Modern Art Center. The statue with folded arms is the first principal. The building he's looking at is the library in the east part of campus—you can borrow books, study, surf the internet, or watch videos there. The row of freshly painted white buildings are the dorms. The inconspicuous one is the bathhouse, behind it is the hot water room, across from it is the small cafeteria, and there's a big cafeteria near the library...
Shawn Thompson was quite the tour guide. By the end of the walk, Sophie had a good grasp of the main buildings and directions on campus. The only ones suffering were the guys carrying the bags at the back, all panting with their tongues out. But if Sophie turned around and gave everyone a sweet smile, saying, "Thank you for your hard work!" they would all instantly straighten up, hold their heads high, and shout in unison, "Serve the people!"
The dorm manager was startled to see a large group of boys rush into the girls' dormitory. She thought the boys had gotten bold and were about to stage an armed raid on the girls' dorm. "Hey... what are you all trying to do..."
"Auntie, this is my sister. She just arrived and has a lot of stuff. We're helping her carry it upstairs." Shawn Thompson instantly became Sophie's brother.
Before the dorm manager could react, the group had already charged upstairs. For a moment, screams echoed everywhere.
"When did I become your sister?" Sophie asked Shawn Thompson after she figured out what was going on.
