Chapter 4

“Heh heh! Sometimes, you need to tell a little white lie. Besides, I’m older than you, so there’s nothing wrong with me calling you little sister, right?” Shawn Thompson said as he watched Sophie’s expression, secretly delighted to see she wasn’t angry.

The two fools with the surname Zhang and Yang followed upstairs, only to be shooed out by a group of enthusiastic men using the excuse that they were in the way. There were already two girls who had moved into this dorm room earlier; they had been chatting on their beds, but now they were so frightened that they shrank back and didn’t dare speak. You couldn’t really blame them—anyone would be startled to see so many guys suddenly rush into a girls’ dorm.

After a long bout of busy work, it was only with the help of those two girls that everything was finally tidied up. Sophie gratefully escorted them all downstairs.

“I’m Shawn Thompson from Department Five. If you ever need anything, just come find me! Just ask around and you’ll know!”

“I’m also from Department Five. If you need anything, just come to me! My name is…”

“I’m…”

A group of people scrambled to introduce themselves, afraid that the beautiful girl wouldn’t remember who did her a favor. After all this commotion, everyone finally dispersed.

Jason Bolton and Paul Young took their dorm keys and headed toward the dorm building. Halfway there, they suddenly realized their hands were empty and they were walking so lightly.

The two looked at each other, then shouted at the same time and rushed back to the girls’ dorm, only to be stopped by the dorm supervisor.

“Um, Auntie… we’re…”

“Are you some girl’s brothers?”

“No!” they both shook their heads, “We’re her friends…”

“Don’t give me that!” the dorm supervisor auntie barked authoritatively, full of righteous energy. “No matter who you are, boys are not allowed to set foot in the girls’ dormitory!” She stood with her hands on her hips, looking as imposing as the legendary Zhang Fei defending Changban Bridge.

“But Auntie, we have an emergency!”

“No!”

“We really have an emergency…”

“No!”

“……”

China, Anhui, Hefei, in front of the main gate of US University, people were coming and going, cars entering and leaving, bustling with activity. Above everyone’s heads, a banner fluttered in the wind: “A warm welcome to new students from all over the country!”

The two fools’ luggage was eventually found by Sophie while she was tidying up, and she brought it down to them.

Returning to their own dorm, Room 701, Building 2 of the boys’ dormitory, they found that three people had already moved in.

Paul Young carried Jason Bolton’s suitcase in both hands, kicked open the door, and startled the three inside.

“Damn! Who is it! Don’t…” one boy cursed, but as soon as he saw who came in, he immediately shut up.

Paul Young glanced around the dorm and saw that three people were already living there, with three empty beds left. He and Jason Bolton each took one, and the last one was just right for storing luggage—all of it Jason Bolton’s, since this guy brought everything, making Paul Young carry it all for him.

Without another word, he put down the suitcase and started unpacking. Jason Bolton followed to help. At this moment, the boy who had just spoken jumped off his bed with a grin and said, “Heh heh! Here, let me help too!”

The other two finally reacted and hurried over to help, but of course, the more they helped, the more chaotic it got.

After a long while and three rounds of effort, the five of them finally got the dorm completely organized.

Even though their help made things messier, Jason Bolton still wanted to express his thanks.

But the other boy shook his head like a rattle drum: “No, no! What’s there to thank? We’re all brothers in the same dorm! Besides, we already know each other!”

“Know each other?” Jason Bolton couldn’t remember ever meeting them.

“Oh! We know you, heh heh!” the first boy said loudly. “The top scorer and best player of the National High School League for two consecutive years, from Luoyang Shuguang High School—Jason Bolton and Paul Young!” He sounded like he was introducing two highly anticipated celebrities to an audience.

“Isn’t that a bit much? So serious!” Jason Bolton was startled.

“Why not? You guys are idols for high school soccer players across the country! You took Shuguang High, a team that was unknown even at the city level, to the top of the National High School League two years in a row! And your three-year rivalry with USTC Affiliated High’s Leonard Thompson is legendary!” added another short boy.

“How… how do you know so much?”

“Anyone who’s watched ‘Do You Care If I Play Soccer’ would know, right?” the first boy said.

“……”

“Heh heh! Just kidding! Actually, we’re also players in the high school league,” he laughed. “I told you, you guys are idols for high school players. How could we not know your heroic deeds?”

“Huh? You guys play soccer too?” Jason Bolton asked in surprise.

“What do you mean? You think you’re the only ones who can play?” said a tall boy who had been silent until now, speaking in Mandarin with a Wuhu accent.

“And you are…” Paul Young sensed that this guy’s tone wasn’t very friendly.
