Chapter 7

The most powerful legendary technique was the secret art of that Holy Emperor! It was said to be the mightiest of all imperial techniques!

Later, after the destruction of ancient times and the changes of eras, this powerful dynasty also vanished into thin air.

However, there have always been rumors that the secret art of that ancient Holy Emperor was never truly lost. Instead, as imperial power shifted, it was passed down along with other relics of ancient dynasties, circulating among the treasuries of various royal families.

Among these treasures, some were the secret arts of other powerful figures from that ancient dynasty, while others were merely ordinary scrolls. Yet only one was the supreme secret art of that Holy Emperor!

For the sake of this Holy Emperor’s secret art, countless bloody storms once swept through the martial world. Many dynasties were even exterminated by sects because of it.

However, most of the so-called Holy Emperor’s secret arts rumored in the martial world were nothing but hearsay. Occasionally, when one was found, it turned out to be merely the secret art of some powerful figure from a dynasty. The so-called supreme treasure remained missing without a trace.

“After Princess Yangyang married William Carter, she suddenly vanished from the world. Later, William Carter also died. I originally thought this supreme treasure would fall into Ethan Carter’s hands. But judging from what happened that day, if it really had, he wouldn’t have acted so useless. All these years, William Carter has always been extremely secretive about this matter. Now, the only one who truly knows about it is the Third Elder of the Five Thunders Sect.”

Olivia Clark’s voice was crisp, and her beautiful face showed a look of keen insight:

“Someone as useless as Ethan Carter wouldn’t dare come see me. I’m afraid the one who truly wants to see me is that Third Elder. She wants to save her nephew—now is her only chance.”

“You are wise, Miss. We old servants misunderstood. We’ll do as you say.”

The five old women exchanged glances:

“However, the deal with Second Elder David Foster still needs to be completed. And for the sake of your reputation, Miss, this boy cannot be allowed to stay.”

“Of course. Once we’ve taken what I want from him, destroy his qi sea and throw him out. I’ve already told David Foster, and tomorrow the Elders’ Council will expel him from the sect. This boy has sullied my reputation—even though it was our scheme, he still can’t be kept. Afterwards, I’ll personally take his head and put an end to this matter!”

Although Olivia Clark was as beautiful as a fairy, her words were sinister and ruthless, showing no mercy.

Olivia Clark waved her hand, and the guard at the door understood, responding as he walked out.

……

Ethan Carter was completely unaware of what was happening in the main hall. He also didn’t know that the Saintess of the Blazing Sun had set her sights on his background.

“Go in. The Saintess is waiting for you inside.”

The guard soon returned, his face expressionless.

Ethan Carter nodded without a word and followed the guard inside.

Passing through layer after layer of curtains in the hall, Ethan Carter immediately saw two delicate maids flanking a stunning young woman reclining on a lounge chair. On either side stood several old women with sinister expressions.

Although he already had a poor opinion of this Saintess of the Blazing Sun, Ethan Carter had to admit she truly possessed a divinely gifted soul.

“Ethan Carter of the Five Thunders Sect greets the Saintess.”

Ethan Carter composed himself and immediately stepped forward.

“Put the item down. You may leave.”

Olivia Clark extended her slender, jade-like fingers and tapped a few times on the sandalwood table before her, signaling Ethan Carter to set the item down. Though she lounged lazily, her expression was arrogant, and the way she looked at Ethan Carter was lofty, as if she were the one standing and speaking.

Ethan Carter hadn’t expected Olivia Clark to get straight to the point. Although he was annoyed by her arrogance, he quickly said:

“I can hand over the item, but before that, I hope you can agree to one condition.”

As soon as he spoke, the room was shocked into silence.

The old women, who had been dozing with half-closed eyes, all opened them at once. Their faces twisted into sinister smiles, as if they were looking at some doomed prey.

Olivia Clark was momentarily stunned, then reacted with an angry laugh:

“Hmph! You insignificant thing, do you even know your place? How dare you bargain with me! Granny Li, Granny Gui, break both his legs, search him for the item, and then throw him out.”

With a single thought, Olivia Clark was ready to cripple both of Ethan Carter’s legs.

“Boy, you’re asking for death!”

The two old women, their skin wrinkled and hair white, exchanged glances and walked out with sinister smiles. Their iron-claw-like hands cracked menacingly, sending chills down one’s spine.

“This witch is truly ruthless!”

A flash of anger appeared in Ethan Carter’s eyes. Though the woman before him was stunningly beautiful, she was a venomous viper through and through.

“Wait!” Ethan Carter immediately stepped forward and shouted, “Fine, I’m willing to hand over the item. But I hope I can give it to you personally, to show my sincerity!”

Olivia Clark’s eyes flickered. She waved her hand dismissively and said with contempt:

“A wise man submits to circumstances. At least you’ve learned your lesson. Stand down!”

The two old women sneered and retreated.
