Chapter 18

“Ethan Carter, you are shameless!”

Behind David Foster, Charles Foster wore a smug expression, but upon hearing these words, it was as if he had been struck by lightning. His face turned deathly pale, and his whole body froze in fear.

With Grace Carter's skills, killing him would be as easy as killing a chicken!

At this moment, Grace Carter also snapped back to her senses. Seeing the wonderful expressions on the faces of David Foster and his son, she felt a surge of satisfaction. She was not good at verbal sparring, and with her status, it was not appropriate to stoop to Charles Foster's level. But with Ethan Carter standing up for her, it was a completely different matter.

“That’s right! David Foster, if anything happens to Xier, your precious son will have to be buried with him!”

Grace Carter caught on, shooting a fierce glance at Charles Foster.

Now Charles Foster's face grew even paler.

David Foster's face was ashen, his expression extremely ugly:

“Grace Carter, you’re ruthless! But you can only protect him for a while, not for a lifetime—let’s see what happens at the Elders’ Council!”

With that, he urged his tiger-hound mount and sped away, not willing to say another word. No matter what, David Foster would never admit he was afraid of Grace Carter's threats.

“Xier, you’re clever, making that old man suffer a setback. As for the Elders’ Council, you don’t need to be afraid. Auntie is ready to risk everything today—no matter what, I won’t let them succeed!”

Grace Carter grabbed Ethan Carter and immediately headed for the mountain peak.

……

At the summit of Five Thunder Mountain, in the main hall of the sect, the atmosphere was solemn and dignified.

The six great elders sat upright, with seven or eight of their core disciples standing behind them, the air thick with seriousness.

At the highest seat in the hall, an old man sat with drooping brows. He wore a blue robe, his hair and beard were completely white, and his face was covered in wrinkles. The aura around him was like a candle in the wind, as if it could be extinguished at any moment.

If not for everyone’s familiarity with him, no one would believe that this seemingly ordinary, frail old man—who looked as if he could be buried at any time—was actually the number one expert of the Five Thunder Sect, a super powerhouse said to be able to wrestle with dragons.

He was also the only one in the Five Thunder Sect to have reached the ninth level of Dragon Force!

Yet at this moment, this sole Dragon Force expert appeared drowsy and decrepit, showing none of the vigor or dominance of a Dragon Force master.

“Elder Foster, since you initiated this Elders’ Council, you may speak first.”

Grand Elder half-closed his eyes, his long white brows drooping, and spoke slowly. After speaking, he closed his eyes again.

It was well known that Grand Elder had no interest in power.

“Very well! Since Grand Elder has spoken, I will begin.”

With Grand Elder's approval, David Foster immediately stood up from his wide chair, swept his gaze across the room, and spoke calmly:

“Everyone! You should all be aware of the recent events in our sect. The Saintess of the Lieyang Sect was a guest here at Five Thunder Mountain, yet someone broke in and spied on her while she was bathing. The Lieyang Sect is a major sect, and its leader is a formidable expert at the tenth level of Martial Thunder. Although our Five Thunder Sect is strong, we are still far behind the Lieyang Sect. The Saintess holds a revered position and is a symbol of their sect. For her to suffer such humiliation here is tantamount to disrespecting the Lieyang Sect. If they seize upon this incident, disaster will befall our Five Thunder Sect immediately!”

As David Foster spoke, he suddenly turned and shouted angrily:

“Ethan Carter, you little bastard, get out here right now!”

Before his voice had faded, he vanished in a flash and reappeared in front of Ethan Carter in the blink of an eye, reaching out to grab the top of his head.

“David Foster, how dare you!”

Grace Carter's eyes turned cold. She leapt from her chair and struck out with her palm.

“Bang!”

A deafening metallic clang erupted in the air, accompanied by a surge of unstoppable force. David Foster and Grace Carter were evenly matched, each retreating several steps.

“David Foster! What do you think you’re doing?”

Grace Carter stood in the center of the hall, her face full of fury, like an enraged mother beast.

“Grace Carter, are you still going to shield him? This little bastard has no real skills, but his lust knows no bounds. He even dared to peep at the Saintess of Lieyang. If he’s causing such trouble today, who knows what disaster he’ll bring in the future? As the saying goes, if a child is not taught, it’s the father’s fault. You can’t escape responsibility for the trouble he’s caused today!”

David Foster confronted her head-on, showing no intention of backing down.

“Nonsense! Xier is just a child, his martial arts are weak—how could he possibly get past the heavy defenses around the Saintess of Lieyang? There’s something fishy about this; someone must be framing him. David Foster, don’t you dare slander him!”

Although Grace Carter hadn’t witnessed it herself, at this moment she chose to defend her own, fully believing in Ethan Carter.

“Hmph! The facts are clear, the evidence is irrefutable—there’s no room for argument. Fellow elders, I propose we vote on stripping Ethan Carter of his position as Young Sect Master. I suggest we remove Ethan Carter from his post!”

A scheming glint flashed in David Foster's eyes as he looked around and raised his hand:

“What do the other elders think?”

“Hmph! I said long ago that we shouldn’t be too tolerant or indulgent with this boy, or he’d bring disaster in the future. But you all wouldn’t listen—look what’s happened now? Elder Foster is right. This boy has caused a catastrophe; we can’t keep him any longer. We must strip him of his Young Sect Master title and hand him over to the Lieyang Sect, severing his ties with our sect!”
