Then he checked the supplies in the vehicle again. Since he didn’t know the exact time the apocalypse would arrive, all the supplies Brian Sullivan had prepared were always kept in the car just in case. He also wanted to test the load capacity of the King Kong under full load.
“Supplies are intact.”
Thinking this, Brian Sullivan took a can of spray paint out of his pocket.
He sprayed the name he had given this steel war machine—King Kong—on the armor of the heavy truck. Although it couldn’t transform, it was as mighty as a Transformer, and even fiercer than Optimus Prime’s truck.
“King Kong, if the apocalypse comes, you and I will travel together!”
Just then, thunder rumbled across the sky.
Brian Sullivan looked up and saw that, in what had been a sunny sky, a meteor shower had started at some point. One meteor after another trailed brilliant tails, clearly visible even in daylight. Suddenly, one meteor seemed to be heading straight for the warehouse.
Chapter 2: The Month-Long Rampage of the Storm
“Today’s headlines: A mysterious comet is approaching Earth and may bring the largest meteor shower in Earth’s history. Experts are calculating the comet’s trajectory…”
“Where did this comet come from? Why was there no warning before? What truth is the government hiding from us?”
“Oh my god, help! A meteor is flying toward me.”
“At present, the meteor shower has swept across most of the Eastern Hemisphere. Reportedly, most regions including Russia, China, Australia, South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, India, Malaysia, and Thailand have already suffered communication blackouts…”
“This is a catastrophic disaster. God, Holy Mary, all satellites in geosynchronous orbit have been destroyed. We’ve lost contact with the outside world… Mayor George is trying to find a solution. Everyone, stay in your homes, do not go outside!”
“Mom, I want my mom, wuwuwuwuwu…”
“This is Allah’s punishment for the kafir, hahahaha! Evil heretics, tremble in the fires of hell!”
“Command center, command center, this is Iron Falcon, requesting to restore communications… Repeating, this is Iron Falcon, requesting… ah… boom…”
“Grandma, what’s that in the sky?”
“It’s a meteor shower, sweetie. Make a wish and it might come true.”
“Oh, I want to wish for grandma to get better…”
“Stop playing League of Legends, come out and see the meteor shower! Damn, it’s spectacular!”
“The ancient Mayan prophecy, delayed by ten years, has finally come true. The end of the world is here. Human civilization will be wiped out. God, please guide our future path.”
“Hello? Hello? Is anyone there? Any survivors?”
“Commander, wind speed exceeds 67 m/s, tsunami wave height 47 m, we’re tilting!”
“No! The Liaoning… will never sink… boom… gone…”
……
Watching the meteor fall toward him, Brian Sullivan’s eyes widened as the thought of “the end of the world” quickly filled his mind.
Maybe because he was mentally prepared, his body reacted on its own. He opened King Kong’s armor and jumped into the driver’s seat. Then he started the engine, ready to escape from the meteor that seemed to be heading straight for him.
But King Kong didn’t start up quickly. Just as the wheels began to turn, the meteor, blazing with fire, struck the tin warehouse dead-on. A massive flame erupted from the warehouse, instantly swallowing everything.
Sitting in the driver’s seat, Brian Sullivan didn’t have time for any other thoughts before the massive shockwave knocked him unconscious.
If you looked at Earth from outer space at that moment,
You would see a comet skimming the atmosphere, countless meteors like fireworks enveloping the planet. The meteors struck the surface, and waves of energy storms erupted one after another. The whole Earth looked as if an abstract painter was wildly splashing paint.
The doomsday prophecy for 2022 posted online—
Came true just like that.
……
Crackle!
It sounded like countless small stones were striking all around, the noise unending.
Brian Sullivan felt his brain was heavy, as if filled with lead, and there was a strange sense of swelling, as if he had grown countless times larger and become a giant.
Brian Sullivan tried to move his body, but there was no response at all.
It was as if his body was paralyzed.
Paralyzed?
Paralyzed!
The thought had just arisen when it jolted Brian Sullivan awake from his stupor, and he began to breathe rapidly. After six years of nonstop training, he could do push-ups with one finger and hit any target with a slingshot within twenty meters. His physical fitness was his greatest asset in the apocalypse—how could he be paralyzed!
Once he cleared his head and focused,
Brian Sullivan finally let out a long sigh of relief. He wasn’t paralyzed. His hands and feet were fine, his body was intact, and he wasn’t injured. He was still in King Kong’s driver’s seat, but the cockpit, which had been filled with computer screens, was now pitch black. It seemed King Kong’s circuits had been damaged in the meteor strike.
“External armor has melted extensively, some internal wiring is burned, urgent repairs needed…”
