Chapter 17

“Dad, Mom is calling you back.” Crystal Collins saw Captain Collins coming out and immediately gave up talking to Charles Warren, walking up to him.

“So Crystal Collins is his daughter.” The thought flashed through Charles Warren’s mind. Not wanting to stay here any longer, he quickly turned and ran off.

“Jingjing, was that really your classmate just now?” Captain Collins watched as Charles Warren jogged away and disappeared around the corner of the street, then finally asked his daughter.

“Yes, he’s the most honest one in our class. He barely says a few words to anyone all day, and he’s never as mischievous as the other boys.” Crystal Collins actually knew Charles Warren quite well.

“The most honest one?” Captain Collins was surprised.

Silently returning home, Charles Warren tossed and turned all night, unable to sleep. His entire arm first went numb, then ached with a pain that pierced to the bone. The feeling, Charles Warren thought, was worse than going to hell. Even after rubbing on some medicated oil, it didn’t get any better.

The pain lasted all night. By the time dawn hadn’t even broken the next morning, Charles Warren had already gotten up early, wrapped his arm in clothes so his parents wouldn’t see, and told them, “I’m going to the provincial capital’s big bookstore to look for study materials.”

His parents were busy every day and really didn’t have time to worry about Charles Warren’s affairs, so they just gave their usual reminders.

Charles Warren, anxious and flustered, hurried to the bus station and caught the earliest bus to the provincial capital. Two hours later, he arrived at the city station, then asked around everywhere, and finally found Tianxing Lake Community.

Seeing the luxurious neighborhood, the four security guards standing straight at the gate, and the electronic entrance, Charles Warren hesitated for a moment: “Is Sis Chen’s place really this nice?”

Charles Warren walked up to the gate and was indeed stopped by the guards. But when Charles Warren took out the metal card Catherine Turner had given him and swiped the code at the entrance, the four security guards immediately let him in politely.

The scenery along the way dazzled Charles Warren. The elegant and tranquil atmosphere, the spotless ground, and the villas that could only be seen in paintings or on TV—all of it made Charles Warren feel like Granny Liu entering the Grand View Garden.

“Houses this nice really exist? If my family had a house like this, wouldn’t we be in heaven?” Charles Warren rubbed his neck, sore from looking around, and finally remembered he was here to find his sister.

“One building, two buildings, three buildings…” Charles Warren walked for quite a while, winding around, and finally found Building 18. Seeing it was quiet inside from a distance, he had to call out loudly: “Sis Chen! Sis Chen!”

“Your sister is behind you!”

Just as Charles Warren finished calling, he heard a voice from behind. Sure enough, Catherine Turner was walking over at a leisurely pace from not far behind him.

Today, Catherine Turner was wearing a pure purple Tang suit. Her entire demeanor was deep and reserved, yet her appearance exuded a lively and ethereal aura. Charles Warren had never seen a woman look so good in a Tang suit. For a moment, he was completely stunned.

“Ow!” Suddenly, Charles Warren’s arm throbbed with pain again, making him suck in a sharp breath.

“Hm?!” Catherine Turner immediately stepped up, lifted Charles Warren’s arm, and looked at his elbow and fist, which were swollen and purple-black.

As Catherine Turner lifted his arm, Charles Warren nearly blacked out from the pain.

Catherine Turner quickly flicked her finger, pecking lightly at Charles Warren’s shoulder joint like a chicken pecking at rice. Instantly, Charles Warren felt half his body go numb, and his whole arm stopped hurting, replaced by a tingling, itchy sensation.

“Come in with me.” Catherine Turner glanced at Charles Warren a few times, then led him into the villa’s spacious glass-walled hall.

The hall was large and spacious, the floor gleaming with some unknown stone, pure white with rings of purple-gold patterns.

A huge leather sofa, a large hanging LCD TV, and an entire wall of crystal glass with tropical fish—all of it looked incredibly luxurious and grand.

“How did this happen?” Catherine Turner let Charles Warren sit down and then asked.

Charles Warren naturally didn’t hide anything from this sister and told her everything in detail.

Catherine Turner listened quietly. Only after Charles Warren finished did she nod. “For you to get results from the Three-Body Stance in just two months is already pretty good. But the Three-Body Stance is just for building skill and stamina, not for fighting. That Captain Collins clearly has solid external skills and tough hands. You’ve only learned the basics and have no real combat experience, so of course you’re no match for him.”

“Sis Chen, what’s internal martial arts and what’s external martial arts? What’s the difference between the two?” Charles Warren asked earnestly.

Catherine Turner raised her left hand as she spoke. On her left index finger was a gold ring, but Charles Warren noticed it wasn’t a solid piece, but rather gold wire wound in circles: “There’s no such thing as internal or external in martial arts, only in a person’s skill. Back when Sun Lutang and Song Shirong, two Xingyi masters, discussed internal and external, they said: those good at cultivating qi are internal, those not good at it are external. That Captain Collins, I see, has only trained his muscles, bones, and skin well. As for hidden power, he’s an outsider. But you have neither hidden power nor trained muscles and bones, so of course you’re worse than him.”
