Chapter 3

At this moment, it was just like that: Henry Foster and the little girl clung tightly together, tumbling and rolling, dizzy and disoriented, not knowing how many scratches and cuts the sour jujube branches and debris had left on their bodies. When they finally rolled to the bottom of the valley, Henry Foster shook his head hard, scrambled to his feet, grabbed the girl's small hand, and started running forward. His figure was as nimble as a monkey, darting in and out among the rocks.

The girl was completely stunned, a bit of blood scratched on her little face. She looked up blankly at the round-headed, silly-looking boy who was pulling her along, her short legs involuntarily moving at a rapid pace, pattering as they dashed among the rocks.

Behind them came a wolf's howl, earth-shaking and thunderous, with a fierce wind howling, the murderous gusts rapidly closing in.

"Damn, these two wolves can fly..."

Henry Foster glanced back, scared out of his wits. He had intended to use the strange rocks and boulders to block the wolves' pursuit, but to his shock, the two wolves actually leapt straight down the slope, their steel-like fur fluttering in the wind, stirring up a bizarre, swirling gale around them. They didn't land for a long time, looking just like two giant kites swooping toward their position...

"We're done for, this is suicide..."

Henry Foster was burning with anxiety, instantly regretting everything.

For a moment, he even thought about leaving the little girl behind—after all, he could run faster than her!

But then he remembered that it was the copper coin that had made the decision to save her, so he shouldn't give up so easily...

"Thud" "Thud"

Just as Henry Foster's heart was pounding with panic and confusion, suddenly there were two heavy thuds behind him. He sensed something was off, turned to look, and was instantly stunned. From his angle, he could see the two demon wolves' corpses, mangled and bloody, hanging among the shattered rocks—dead beyond any doubt...

"What happened?"

Henry Foster was dazed for a moment, then turned with a strange expression to look at the cute and well-behaved little girl.

A moment ago, she had looked as elegant and noble as a little princess, but now her hair was a bit messy, and there was a scratch on her face. Yet her white robe was oddly pristine, not dirty at all despite rolling down the slope.

More importantly, after tumbling down the hill and being chased by the demon wolves for so long, she still seemed perfectly calm.

Henry Foster's eyes gradually widened. "You killed them?"

The little girl was also shy and hesitant, as if very bashful. After a while, she gently nodded.

Henry Foster blurted out, "Nonsense, how could you have that kind of ability?"

The little girl froze for a moment, clearly never having encountered such a situation before. After hesitating, she suddenly crouched slightly and gave Henry Foster a gentle bow, performing a ritual Henry Foster had never seen before. But it was clear that this etiquette was very noble and very formal. Her voice was as soft as a mosquito: "Li... Little Lily thanks you for saving my life..."

She seemed to know this etiquette, but it was also her first time doing it. Her little face turned bright red with embarrassment.

"Huh?"

Henry Foster was stunned for a long while. Did he just succeed in saving a damsel in distress?

But wait, was he the hero who saved someone, or the beauty who got saved?

Chapter Two: The Mysterious Copper Coin

"Of course you should thank me, but just now those demon wolves..."

The situation seemed a bit unexpected, and even someone as thick-skinned as Henry Foster took a while to react before speaking awkwardly.

"Miss is over there..."

Before he could finish, a sharp, anxious call rang out from the edge of the forest in the distance. Henry Foster's eyes widened as he saw two clusters of white clouds rising into the air from the forest's edge, flying straight toward them. On those two clouds were a blood-soaked, blue-robed maid with double buns, and an old woman in black robes leaning on a dragon-headed cane!

"Im... Immortals?"

Henry Foster's eyes went wide in an instant.

He had always firmly believed that he was sent to Niutou Village by immortals, and always considered immortals as his own people. But after ten years in Niutou Village, he had never seen the legendary cultivators—this was the first time.

He couldn't suppress the excitement in his heart, not knowing if it was excitement or agitation.

The blue-robed maid and the old woman in black landed beside them, anxiously examining the little girl. When they saw the scratch on her face, their expressions immediately turned tense. When their eyes fell on the two demon wolf corpses a dozen yards away, their faces became even more unsightly.

The old woman scooped the little girl up and checked her all over. Seeing that she had no other injuries, she finally relaxed, but said angrily, "So the demon folk from Wild Ridge Cave are here too—how audacious! Let's see how they die!"

The blue-robed maid said coldly, "It was hard enough to drive those people away. We'd better leave here quickly!"

As she spoke, her sharp eyes turned to Henry Foster, frowning. "Who is this boy?"

When Henry Foster saw their eyes on him, he quickly said, "What do you mean, 'this boy'? I saw her almost get eaten by wolves just now and ran out to save her!" Although he wasn't sure who had saved whom, it was definitely right to claim the credit first.
