Entering the cabin to change clothes, the Wellington Academy uniform was extremely modern. The outfit included trousers, black leather shoes, a white shirt, and a very stylish open-collar black blazer. However, the only drawback was the large golden characters “候补” (“Substitute”) outlined on the chest of the blazer, which somewhat spoiled the look. As I changed, I tugged at the fabric—it was incredibly elastic, likely made from the legendary “万折棉,” known for its excellent stretch and durability, making it perfect for martial artists.
When I walked out in my substitute student uniform, Lucy Hughes was actually a little stunned, her beautiful face full of delight: “As expected of the younger brother of Vice Dean Emily Baker, this outfit—tsk tsk—probably very few boys in all of Wellington Academy could look this good in it.”
I nodded and smiled: “Thank you for the compliment, Assistant Hughes. Let’s go check out the cafeteria, I’m already really hungry.”
As soon as I finished speaking, my stomach growled loudly, making things even more awkward.
Lucy Hughes covered her mouth and laughed softly: “Alright, let’s go. I’ll take you to the cafeteria first, and after you’re full, we can look at other places.”
“Okay.”
……
After passing a few rows of landscaped trees, we reached the main campus. As I walked down this path, I noticed that the girls’ uniforms at Wellington Academy were short skirts, shirts, little ties, and jackets. My eyes immediately lit up—these were all outstandingly attractive, young, beautiful, and energetic girls!
A breeze blew, skirts fluttered, and a forest of white legs appeared…
“Damn, paradise!”
I almost couldn’t help but slap my thigh and laugh out loud.
Chapter 4: The Big Eater
Perhaps because it was a noble academy, the girls on the road were generally very attractive. In comparison, the women on the streets of Silverleaf City were simply not worth looking at. I sighed inwardly as I walked with Lucy Hughes along the campus path. The cafeteria was not far from the Sword Polishing Office, and it was mealtime, so there were many students—both male and female—enthusiastically discussing classes and cultivation.
And I was almost impossible to blend in with them. After all, in the eyes of these students, someone like me, who had no spiritual power and couldn’t awaken any talent, was simply an oddball!
“There, that’s the cafeteria.”
Lucy Hughes smiled gently: “Would you like me to have breakfast with you?”
“Uh… well, okay, thank you, Assistant Hughes.”
“Let’s go.”
……
Breakfast options weren’t very extensive—bread, milk, eggs, and so on. When I took out my substitute student card, the chef gave me three eggs, two pieces of bread, and a large cup of milk.
Lucy Hughes didn’t eat anything, just sat across from me watching me eat.
I wolfed down the food, my stomach seemingly never full. Even after finishing all that, I still felt a bit hungry.
“What’s wrong?”
Lucy Hughes looked at me considerately: “Still not full?”
“Uh…” I looked at my student card and said, “My card has a set limit, so I don’t think I can buy any more.”
“No problem, use mine. My card doesn’t have a limit.” Lucy Hughes took out a silver card.
“Thank you.”
I was extremely grateful and went to buy food for two more people.
In the end, I kept eating and ended up consuming enough breakfast for seven people. Even I found it strange—when did I start eating so much?
Lucy Hughes was staring at me, mouth agape, speechless. And it wasn’t just her; quite a few male and female students around us were also stunned, whispering among themselves—
“Look, that substitute student ate seven full plates!”
“What a foodie!”
“Isn’t the person sitting across from him Assistant Hughes?”
“Why are there tears in Assistant Hughes’s eyes…”
……
I awkwardly wiped my mouth, almost making Lucy Hughes cry from feeding me. Even though her card wasn’t limited, it was probably her salary! So I stood up and bowed, saying, “Sorry, Assistant Hughes, when I earn money in the future, I’ll definitely pay you back…”
Lucy Hughes burst out laughing, gracefully straightening her skirt as she stood up and said, “Silly boy, what are you thinking? If you’re full, let’s go. I’ll take you to see the training grounds—that’s where you’ll be spending most of your time.”
“Okay.”
The training grounds at Wellington Academy were huge—there were eight in total, reportedly able to accommodate two thousand students training at once. At this time, students were already heading to the various training grounds, while others, holding books, were going to their theory classes. After showing me the locations of each training ground, Lucy Hughes told me to deliver the training swords according to the schedule.
Just as I watched Lucy Hughes leave, a voice suddenly came from behind: “Ethan? Is that really you?!”
It was Ryan Scott’s voice!
I turned around abruptly, and sure enough, the guy was standing right behind me, also wearing the Wellington Academy student uniform. Without saying a word, we hugged.
“Ethan, how did you end up at Wellington Academy?”
As soon as Ryan Scott asked, he suddenly remembered something that made him feel guilty and said, “After you… after your meridians were burned and your cultivation was destroyed, I originally wanted to stay with you until you woke up, but the academy was starting. If I didn’t leave, my old man threatened to break my legs.”
I understood, of course: “It’s fine, Little Ryan, I’m a substitute student at Wellington Academy now.”
“A substitute student, huh…”
