Chapter 18

Turning around, what a small world—it's Logan Sullivan again!

“What is it? Do you need something?”

“Of course I do! Because of you, I got scolded by that old bastard from the Disciplinary Office for an entire afternoon. Did you think you could just get away with it?” Logan Sullivan's long golden hair whipped wildly in the wind as he sneered, “If I don’t teach you a lesson, your Grandpa Lang’s bones will feel uncomfortable.”

“You want to get scolded again?” I couldn’t help but laugh.

  “Scolded?”

Logan Sullivan said coldly, “You wish. I won’t get scolded. Last time, it was because I broke academy rules by challenging someone above my level. But this time, I’m just going to beat you up. At worst, I’ll get charged with fighting, and that’s not the Academy’s business anymore—it’s up to the City Defense Officer of Linxue City. Do you know who my father is?”

At his side, a few lackeys chimed in unison, “The honorable City Defense Officer of Linxue City, James Sullivan!”

I almost spat blood. Damn it, are they putting on a show for me? Why are these students so immature? They even look older than me!

  “Not fighting.”

I said firmly. After all, even though my spiritual power had recovered, I only had about a tenth of my strength. If I really went up against Logan Sullivan, I still wouldn’t stand a chance. One of my rules is: if I can’t win, I absolutely won’t fight!

But just then, a sweet voice came from behind: “Fight! Why not fight him?”

I was slightly stunned and turned around. It was a girl holding a water cup, looking somewhat familiar. Right, she was the one Anna Sutton mentioned, called “Yvonne.” She was poised and beautiful, with bright eyes and white teeth. Her short skirt fluttered in the wind, and her long, fair legs were strapped with training kneepads, with daggers tucked into the pouches at her sides.

“Yvonne Dalton, what’s this got to do with you? Mind your own business!” Logan Sullivan frowned and said, “Don’t think you’re so great just because you’re in the top ten of this year’s freshmen. Don’t forget… you’re just a support-type spiritual cultivator!”

“I never said I was going to fight!”

Yvonne Dalton blinked her big eyes and smiled slyly, “I just love watching a good show. Ethan Baker, go fight him! I’ll cheer you on. Don’t worry, I love watching people brawl!”

I was dumbfounded. “But you know I can’t beat him…”

Yvonne Dalton tossed her water cup aside, put her hands on her hips, puffed out her ample chest, and smiled confidently, “Do you think my cheering is just empty words? Relax, my support is the real deal!”

I didn’t quite get it, but I had a feeling she was up to something.

  ……

Logan Sullivan was getting impatient: “Ethan Baker, are you a man or not? Do you want to hide behind a girl’s skirt for protection?”

  I gritted my teeth. “Fight!”

“Alright, I was just waiting for you to say that!”

Logan Sullivan let out a low shout, spiritual power surging around him as he summoned his Soul Destroyer. The sword blade gleamed brilliantly, radiating light in all directions.

  “Fight! Fight!”

Yvonne Dalton looked like she was just itching for chaos, smiling sweetly. At the same time, she reached forward with both arms, and a deep blue spiritual staff appeared in her hands, radiating icy energy. She raised the staff in her right hand, pointed her left hand straight at my chest, closed her eyes, and began chanting. A surge of power was building up. Her short skirt fluttered so much that even her safety shorts were about to show. The next moment, she opened her bright eyes and shouted, “Enhance!”

  “Buzz!”

A surge of powerful energy flooded into my body. I was completely shocked—Yvonne Dalton had boosted my spiritual power by at least five times! The feeling of overflowing spiritual energy was simply exhilarating!

Even Yvonne Dalton's beautiful eyes flashed with a hint of surprise.

  “Here he comes!”

Logan Sullivan dashed forward like an arrow, swinging his Soul Destroyer in a fierce diagonal slash!

I leapt back half a step, my right hand reaching out to the air. Instantly, I drew a pitch-black spiritual weapon with a silver blade from the void—Moonblade, we meet again!

The moment I drew Moonblade, Logan Sullivan was stunned. This was my god-given chance. I used my Battle Tactic to boost my spiritual power a bit more, gripped Moonblade with both hands, and with a surge of icy white energy swirling around the blade, I swung it hard at him!

  “Boom!”

There was an explosive sound in the air. My strike felt like it hit a sandbag. Logan Sullivan, sword and all, was sent rolling into the bushes, crashing into a tree and startling a flock of birds into flight.

  “Logan!”

  “Logan!”

A few lackeys panicked and rushed over to help him up. But he seemed fine—just knocked out. So weak!

  ……

I dismissed Moonblade and smiled at Yvonne Dalton: “Thank you. If it weren’t for you, I’d probably have embarrassed myself again today.”

Yvonne Dalton had a beautiful smile. She leaned in close to my face, her big eyes blinking as she looked me over and said, “I was just standing up for what’s right. If a spiritual cultivator can’t draw their blade to help others, aren’t they just a salted fish? Although, I don’t have a blade.”

As she spoke, she narrowed her beautiful eyes and said, “Ethan Baker… are you really that Ethan Baker from Silverleaf City—the one known as the continent’s number one prodigy?”

  “I…”
