Chapter 17

“This little thing is stupid on its own—who can it blame for being tricked?” the young man said indifferently. “All things are born with their own strengths. Heaven granted this magical beast speed far beyond the ordinary, and granted us humans wisdom. Of course we should play to our strengths and use our wits to overcome the beast’s advantages.”

The young woman said angrily, “That’s just being despicable, taking advantage of others’ kindness!”

The young man sneered, “Since when do people from Broadridge Mountain get to meddle in the affairs of Holy Sun Sect?”

The Broadridge Mountain female disciple looked closely and saw that the youth wore white robes with red trim at the cuffs, embroidered with a sun motif—indeed, the attire of a Holy Sun Sect disciple.

He grabbed the luminous spirit cat, and with a flick of his fingernail across the kitten’s neck, blood gushed out at once.

“Catching it is nothing. The real prize is the spirit crystal core in this beast’s head.” The Holy Sun Sect disciple smiled. “In this world, might makes right. If you can beat me, you can take this little thing.”

“If you can’t beat me, all your words are useless. Are you Broadridge Mountain disciples only good at talking now?”

The girl watched as the palm-sized kitten convulsed, unable even to cry out, and her anger surged uncontrollably. Unable to restrain herself any longer, she charged at him.

Broadridge Mountain and Holy Sun Sect controlled neighboring territories, and clashes between their young disciples were common.

Other Broadridge Mountain disciples also turned over at this moment, and seeing what was happening, immediately stepped in to help.

The other side was not alone either; more Holy Sun Sect disciples arrived, and the scene quickly descended into chaos, with a brawl about to break out.

“Master, they’re disciples of Holy Sun Sect.” Jack came to Eric Dawson’s side and reported what had happened.

Eric Dawson asked, “Any masters among them?”

Jack replied, “None seen so far.”

“That makes it simple.” Eric Dawson shrugged.

“Close the door, release Ethan Clark.”

Chapter 11: Equipment Overwhelm

Jack looked utterly confused, clearly not understanding the deeper meaning behind his young master’s simple order.

But he still carried out Eric Dawson’s instructions to the letter.

Since no master-level martial artists from the other side had appeared, he did not intervene.

And as it turned out, things went exactly as Eric Dawson had expected.

At first, the younger generation of Broadridge Mountain disciples suffered a slight disadvantage, but once Ethan Clark and Alice Warren arrived, the situation immediately reversed.

The two sides brawled in Zhenlong Abyss, and as the fight escalated, all sorts of weapons began to appear.

Holy Sun Sect was a holy land sect on par with, or even surpassing, Broadridge Mountain. Their young disciples dared to enter a dangerous place like Zhenlong Abyss to train, so their talent and strength were naturally outstanding among their peers.

Their sects were also willing to invest in them; each was well-equipped, with at least one battle weapon apiece.

The most outstanding among them even carried treasure weapons.

There were fewer than twenty Holy Sun Sect disciples, but they revealed eight lower-grade treasure weapons at once, spiritual energy surging and their radiance illuminating a hundred meters around.

And then...

All the Holy Sun Sect disciples were dumbfounded.

Because the sixteen Broadridge Mountain disciples before them each had a treasure weapon—some even had more than one!

In the next instant, a tidal wave of attacks crashed down, battering them and their eight treasure weapons like tiny skiffs tossed in a storm, as if they could be swallowed up at any moment.

The Holy Sun Sect disciples were so furious they spat blood. “Zhenlong Abyss may be a deadly place, but isn’t Broadridge Mountain being a bit too generous? They actually equipped everyone with a treasure weapon!”

“Could they be here on some special mission? But if it’s a special mission, why send disciples at the body-refining stage?”

“Don’t tell me they came here just for us?”

“The other side has too many treasure weapons. A wise man knows when to retreat. Let’s go—revenge can wait for another day!”

The Holy Sun Sect disciples fought as they retreated, while Ethan Clark, Alice Warren, and the others gave chase.

Relative to their current cultivation, the boost from the treasure weapons was enormous, making it hard for the Holy Sun Sect disciples to even escape.

They struggled back to their camp at the center of the vortex, only to be surrounded again by the Broadridge Mountain disciples.

The Holy Sun Sect disciple who had caught the luminous spirit cat sneered, “So, Broadridge Mountain, you’re really going to go up against Holy Sun Sect?”

“This luminous spirit cat is wild, not your pet. I caught it, so it’s mine to deal with. What right do you have to interfere?”

The Broadridge Mountain female disciple who had chased after the cat shouted, “That kitten is close to me—I’m the one who’s going to raise it!”

He snorted, “Does it have your name written on it?”

The girl was furious. “You...”

The leading Holy Sun Sect disciple said coldly, “You’re provoking Holy Sun Sect over a single magical beast? Broadridge Mountain has really grown bold these years.”

“Don’t forget who is the number one holy land in the Eight Extremes World!”

The Broadridge Mountain disciples frowned slightly. Although the great holy lands were considered equals, there were still differences in strength, and Holy Sun Sect was currently the most powerful, known for its tough and domineering style.
