Grace Young wiped away her tears. No matter what, her family's vengeance had been fulfilled. She took the mini axe from Edward Lewis's hand, held it in her palms, closed her eyes, and softly chanted an incantation. Suddenly, the axe grew to its normal size: ancient patterns adorned the axe body, and the blue blade gleamed with a chilling light. “Every time my father took this axe out for appraisal, only our family knew its true wonders. That’s why, no matter how much pain he endured, he would never hand it over to evildoers!” Grace Young said as she looked at the axe in her hand. Edward Lewis didn’t answer; he was completely captivated by the axe. Unlike the ordinary members of the Yan family, he knew at first glance that this was a magical artifact used by cultivators. But when it revealed its true form, Edward Lewis finally realized what it was. He took the axe from Grace Young, gently caressing its surface with both hands, recalling the records from the “Demon God Cave”: the Pangu Axe, the foremost of the seven great divine weapons in the world, possessing unparalleled offensive power, the ability to infinitely amplify spell effects, and even the power to tear open the void!
Even the Xuanyuan Sword, another divine weapon famed for its attack, could not compare to its power. Spells cast through it as a medium could be magnified without limit—of course, how much depended on your own cultivation. Most importantly, its legendary ability: to break open the void. This was the might of the number one divine weapon in the world, the power of the Pangu Axe that could split heaven and earth!
Edward Lewis struggled to snap out of his daze. After hesitating for a long time, he finally returned the Pangu Axe to Grace Young and warned, “Be careful. Don’t let anyone else see that you have this.”
Edward Lewis and Grace Young walked on the road home. Suddenly, Edward Lewis remembered something and asked, “When are you going back to school?” Grace Young was silent for a moment, then finally said, “I don’t want to go back anymore.” Edward Lewis sighed. He still felt guilty toward her; he should have explained things clearly from the start—after all, the price she paid was too high. “Alright, I’ll buy you an apartment first, then arrange a position for you at the company. You can work there for now.” Grace Young, who had been walking with her head down, suddenly looked up at him and said, “Actually, you don’t need to feel guilty. All of this was my own choice. Besides, you saved me and helped me get revenge. I should be thanking you.” Edward Lewis looked at her in astonishment, his gaze gradually softening. At last, he saw the kindness in Grace Young’s nature, which had been obscured by hatred.
When they got home, his mother opened the door and, seeing him, burst into tears. “Son, you’re back! How could you be gone for over a month without even calling home? Are you alright?” Edward Lewis had left home after a breakup—at least, that’s what his parents thought—and hadn’t been heard from since. They didn’t believe he was really traveling; he had just broken up, and they were afraid he might do something foolish. With no news from Edward Lewis for over a month and his phone turned off, his parents had been terrified.
Seeing his mother’s tearful face, and his father looking much more haggard, the gloom that had weighed on Edward Lewis for over a month suddenly vanished, replaced by a deep sense of emotion that overwhelmed him. He forced a smile and said, “I’m fine, Mom, Dad, how could anything happen to me? Hey, Grace Young, come here. Mom, Dad, this is your new daughter-in-law.” Only then did his parents notice the person behind him and hurriedly welcomed Grace Young inside.
His mother looked Grace Young up and down several times, nodding repeatedly. Edward Lewis and his father went back to watching the game, leaving Grace Young and his mother to chat. After lunch, his mother and Grace Young washed the dishes in the kitchen, while his father and Edward Lewis returned to the living room to watch TV. Suddenly, his father said, “You know, you don’t have to find a girlfriend just to make your mom happy.” Edward Lewis was taken aback. “Even though you’ve changed a lot, you’re still my son. I can still guess some of your thoughts. From William Quinn to Grace Young, you’ve been with them just to make your mom happy, haven’t you?” Looking at the rarely seen loving gaze in his father’s eyes, the stubbornness in Edward Lewis’s eyes gradually softened. His father’s voice sounded again in his ear: “We don’t know what you went through in those five years, but as long as you can face your conscience, as long as you feel that what you’ve done won’t bring shame to the Liu family ancestors, you’ll always be our son! That’s how your mom and I feel.” Tears welled up in Edward Lewis’s eyes. Since becoming a vampire, he had never felt so resolute as he did today.
“Dad, let’s buy a bigger house. You should have a study.”
“Alright! Now that my son has money, your mom and I can finally enjoy some of your good fortune!”
Chapter Eleven
Edward Lewis told his parents about Grace Young’s experiences, though he left out some details and didn’t fully explain her current identity. After hearing it, his mother was filled with compassion, cursed those two bastards, and urged Edward Lewis to treat her well. Since Grace Young had nowhere else to go, his mother decided on the spot: she would live with them!
Edward Lewis bought a new house, a car, got his parents the latest smartphones, and furnished the home with the best appliances, spending so much that it made his parents’ hearts ache. In fact, he had his own reasons. Given his identity, he shouldn’t have been so ostentatious, but he didn’t know how long his peaceful days would last. He just wanted his parents to live as well as possible while he still could. In case something happened to him one day and he could no longer be by their side, at least he would have fewer regrets.
