Chapter 4

But Ryan Clark hadn’t expected that as soon as he arrived at the company, Manager Brooks called him into the office and pushed a document in front of him: “The project liaison work is yours.”

“Huh?”

Ryan Clark took over the project, glanced at it curiously, and was instantly stunned: “Doll?”

It was actually that superstar?

He couldn’t help but marvel at how strange things could be—something you just heard about a second ago could appear before you in a completely different form in no time at all.

As an outstanding employee, he never picked and chose his tasks, so he readily agreed.

What followed was a flurry of proposal submissions, listening to the various demands from Doll’s notoriously difficult professional team, and doing his best to meet them. Ryan Clark handled the work exceptionally well, and the other party happily signed the contract. Both sides felt a strong sense of professional respect for each other, and agreed that the next day, the other company would send someone over to officially sign the formal contract with Ryan Clark and his team.

On that day, Ryan Clark, wanting to be more formal, specially put on a suit and followed closely behind Manager Linda Brooks, bustling about like a diligent assistant.

Just as he was thinking that landing this big deal might mean another bonus for him, he heard a gasp of surprise from someone else in the company.

“She actually came in person…”

“She’s so beautiful…”

“Oh my god, she’s even better looking than her photos online…”

“…”

Ryan Clark was a bit surprised. He turned around and saw that the people from the entertainment company had already arrived. The agent was a tall woman who looked very capable and always kept a wary eye on those around her, as if she was doubling as a bodyguard. And the person she was protecting—the one who had caused such a stir—was a girl in a black dress following right behind her.

She was just putting away her black sun umbrella, wearing oversized sunglasses that still couldn’t hide her stunning beauty.

Countless people in the company were visibly excited, instinctively grabbing their notebooks or cameras, hoping to get a photo with her.

But they were intimidated by the tall agent at Doll’s side and felt a bit apprehensive.

“She really is gorgeous, no wonder she’s so popular…”

“…”

Ryan Clark also made his own assessment inwardly, smiling as he looked over at her.

This was a huge deal, bringing him who knows how many rewards. Did he see her as just a pretty girl?

No, she was a rich lady!

And just as Ryan Clark was happily looking at her, he saw the beautiful girl scan the crowd for a moment, then suddenly break into a radiant smile and run happily toward Ryan Clark.

She reached out with both hands, grabbed Ryan Clark’s arm, and smiled affectionately: “Found you…”

“Huh?”

Everyone around instantly widened their eyes, their faces full of disbelief.

……

……

Suddenly, the scene froze. All the surroundings began to recede like a tide—the slacking employees disappeared, the spacious office building vanished, and Ryan Clark sat up from his lounge chair, seeing Doll quietly waiting for him on the sofa not far away, and Psychologist sitting across from him, looking utterly dejected. She seemed to want to say something, but didn’t quite dare…

“So this is the life I would have experienced if there had been no Red Moon?”

Ryan Clark smiled at Psychologist and said, “It’s pretty amazing. In this dream, I didn’t feel anything was unreal.”

“That’s just because you were willing to cooperate. Otherwise, how could I possibly have the power to make you fall into a dream…”

Psychologist said dejectedly, “But you’ve seen my ability now. This special psychotherapy qualification certificate—can you give it to me?”

“Alright, I’ll sign it.”

Ryan Clark agreed with a smile. “But I didn’t expect that even if the Red Moon incident hadn’t happened, I’d still end up with Doll. Is this fate?”

Doll, sitting on the sofa not far away, turned her head and gave a sweet smile when she heard this.

Psychologist shivered, quickly nodding: “Yes, yes, my ability is to help you simulate different life paths, and in every one, you end up with her.”

Seeing the two of them smiling at each other, she just wanted to open the window and jump out.

Anyway, from the way her ability played out, in a world where the Red Moon incident never happened and everything was normal, he—or rather, the god of this world—might really have lived an ordinary and fulfilling life. He would of course meet all kinds of people, have a warm family, marry a gentle and beautiful girl—maybe Teacher Ryan, maybe Henry Hall…

…No, impossible!

Psychologist immediately shook her head, banishing those thoughts.

When Doll turned and glared at her with displeasure, she understood: if in that world, Doll hadn’t ended up with him,

Then in this world, she herself would definitely be in big trouble…
