Chapter 10

In the ancient tower at the center of Ruoyu Prison, a group of fierce, wolf-like wardens, fully armored and heavily armed, stood in strict formation around the Taiji diagram at the heart of the tower, ready for anything.

The two yin-yang fish slowly rotated and opened to both sides. As soon as Henry Morgan emerged, countless spells and magical treasures were unleashed at him all at once. Henry Morgan let out a loud roar and was about to struggle, but was immediately swarmed and knocked to the ground.

“Hurry, hurry, hurry, get him into the Demon-Severing Array!”

“Where’s the Qingming Pill? Is the Qingming Pill ready?”

“The Demon-Severing Array is already open, quickly throw him in…”

“I have the Qingming Pill here, hurry up and pry his mouth open!”

Amidst the chaos, someone suddenly raised their hand high, holding a blackish-brown pill that emitted a moldy, tofu-dreg stench, even worse than feces.

“I…” Henry Morgan was startled and tried to protest, but someone had already timed it perfectly. As soon as he opened his mouth, a dirty, hairy hand reached in and forcefully pried it open, then shouted triumphantly, “I got his mouth open, quick, the Qingming Pill!”

Henry Morgan almost vomited from disgust. But worse was yet to come. The Qingming Pill was shoved into his mouth, and the stench shot straight up his nose. Henry Morgan couldn’t hold it in any longer and retched loudly.

“I’m fine, I’m perfectly clear-headed!” he shouted, stunning everyone for a moment. But after a brief pause, someone yelled, “Don’t be fooled…” Instantly, everyone “understood,” and they swarmed him again, grabbing him like a pig to be thrown into the Demon-Severing Array.

“I really am fine! Sixth Carter, I still owe you six pieces of jade from our bet, have you forgotten? Samuel Wright, you bastard, if you don’t put me down, next time you’re on duty, you’ll be stuck guarding the door the whole time—don’t even think about sneaking off to gamble!”

He quickly rattled off everyone’s business to prove he was clear-headed, but in his haste, the Qingming Pill slipped down his throat with a gulp—what a disgusting feeling…

“Seems like he really is fine?”

“How is that possible?”

“No matter who goes in, they either die or go mad. Henry Morgan, how are you okay?”

Someone snorted and said, “I saw him go down with Eric Bennett.”

Everyone immediately understood, and they hurriedly let Henry Morgan go. Sixth Carter asked, “Captain Morgan, you sent Eric Bennett to die in your place—aren’t you afraid Owen Grant will come after you?”

Henry Morgan snorted, “I can barely save my own life, why would I be afraid of him?”

Everyone relaxed. “Forget it, since that’s the case, let’s all disperse. That fool definitely isn’t coming back.”

The crowd gradually dispersed. Eric Bennett was always an extra in Ruoyu Prison; no one cared about his life or death. If anyone had any thoughts, it was a pity that Eric Bennett had been used as a scapegoat by Henry Morgan, so they’d have no chance in the future; and they were curious to see how someone as domineering as Owen Grant would react if he found out Henry Morgan got Eric Bennett killed.

……

Beneath the Abyss of the Departed, Eric Bennett listened intently for a moment, then nodded and said, “So it really is ‘Condemn the World by Word’.”

Old Devil was speaking enthusiastically, but suddenly paused, looking at him with new respect. “You actually know about ‘Condemn the World by Word’? Young man, who exactly are you? There’s not a trace of spiritual energy fluctuation on you, and at your age, you’re still like this—could it be your constitution prevents you from cultivating? But even among the heads of the Nine Great Heavenly Gates, few know of ‘Condemn the World by Word’…”

Eric Bennett chuckled but said no more. His identity was his greatest secret—even those closest to him couldn’t know, let alone a Old Devil he’d just met.

“If you have the ability, go ahead and try to persuade me, or drive me mad with your words. If not, don’t disturb my cultivation.”

Old Devil laughed as well. “You little rascal, so arrogant at such a young age. Even if you know I possess the world’s number one mystical talisman, ‘Condemn the World by Word,’ so what? Do you think you can resist it? Just wait until I persuade you to become my follower—let’s see if you’re still so cocky then!”

Eric Bennett acted as if he hadn’t heard. After experiencing the power of “Condemn the World by Word,” his curiosity was gone, and he was ready to focus on cultivation.

When Eric Bennett recalled this part of his memory about the Abyss of the Departed, he’d already had his suspicions. Seeing it in person now confirmed his guess. The reason Old Devil could keep persuading others wasn’t because of his eloquence, but because he possessed the world’s number one mystical talisman, “Condemn the World by Word.”

The top-ranked destiny talismans in the world all possess unfathomable power. To persuade others effortlessly while sitting still is only one of the many powers of “Condemn the World by Word.” However, this ancient talisman was something Eric Bennett had only heard of in legends—its exact effects were unknown.

Eric Bennett himself bore the world’s number one fierce talisman, “Drought Demon’s Bloodburn.” To be called “fierce,” it must be utterly unyielding. Although the Drought Demon’s Bloodburn was already dead, the top-ranked destiny talismans of the world do not lose their power with their bearer’s death—their aura remains.
