Chapter 3

Who cares, you’ve got to go watch the game! Even though there are memories of watching games live, I’ve never actually seen one myself, so I’ll go check it out first! These are VIP seats, even better than courtside tickets. The Suns’ last game is against the Heat? That means I’ll get to see Wade, the scoring champion? And maybe even face off with him?” Brian Carter decided to go watch the game in person first.

Chapter 0002: The Little Overlord’s Endless Fun

Just like in the “previous life,” after graduating from college, I found a job and drifted through each day, not knowing what the future would hold. After crossing over, it’s the same—I have no idea what I’m going to do, so I’ll just take it one step at a time for now.

But, the good thing about “this life” is that there’s a fallback. If things don’t work out, I can always go back to my home country and “inherit the family business,” become a hotpot restaurant owner… not bad at all.

Brian Carter didn’t put the envelope and other things into his backpack, but instead placed them in the inner pocket of his jacket, together with his wallet.

He returned to the rented house in the suburbs, as remembered. Unlike the previous owner of this body, who had gotten used to the living environment, Brian Carter looked at this “crappy house he really wanted to replace” from his memories and thought it was a bit exaggerated…

“Are all American rentals like this?”

Brian Carter looked at the standalone two-story villa, with a small garden and even a half-court basketball court. It was way more extravagant than he’d imagined!

Although it wasn’t a mansion, it still had four bedrooms and five bathrooms, a gym, and a small garage with a used car inside.

Brian Carter went to check out the gym. It seemed like nothing inside had been touched—everything was covered in dust.

“I remember the rent is $1,000 a month? That’s about six or seven thousand yuan a month? That’s way too extravagant! It’s like money means nothing! This guy’s parents are way too generous. If my kid wasted money like this, I’d have to beat him up.”

Seeing the basketball in the corner of the gym, already covered in dust, Brian Carter recalled that back in college, he was on the department team too. Of course, while his skills weren’t bad, they weren’t exactly great either.

He couldn’t help but walk over and pick up the ball, not caring about the dust on it.

“This gym probably hasn’t been used for seven or eight months…” In Brian Carter’s memory, since he rented this place last August, he hadn’t touched the gym at all.

He did often go to a gym near the school, but that was purely to pick up girls.

He put down his backpack, found a pump in the gym’s small cabinet, filled the ball with air, took off his jacket, and went out to the half-court basketball court in the yard. He dribbled the ball and threw it out…

You have to admit, being tall really makes a difference in basketball. The angle between your line of sight and the hoop is much flatter, and shooting feels more like tossing something—the sensation is much better.

But… he wasn’t used to the strength of this body at all. The shot felt great, but using the same shooting habits as in his “previous life,” he ended up hitting the neck of the rim…

“Sigh… back in the day, I was the backbone of the department team…”

Brian Carter seemed to be reminiscing about the past as he walked over to pick up the ball and shoot again.

Since things have come to this, why not enjoy the life of this new existence?

“Your body is the capital for… picking up girls—no, for revolution. I’ve got to train it well…”

In his previous life, Brian Carter was a “lone star,” never really enjoying life from childhood all the way to age 27. Now, with a decent family background in this life, of course he wanted to enjoy it.

He walked over to the basketball, bent down to pick it up, and as soon as he reached out his hand, a screen like a computer monitor appeared before his eyes, displaying a line of text.

“Do you want to experience a more exciting life? Are you unwilling to be ordinary?”

Brian Carter unconsciously read it out loud.

“Is this the so-called transmigration benefit?”

Brian Carter didn’t find it hard to accept. He’d already accepted transmigration, so this wasn’t a big deal.

The text on the screen changed, showing two options.

“1. Start a brand new life; 2. Enjoy the present.”

“Both options sound pretty good. They’re not belittling the present, and there’s no sense of manipulation. Makes sense—life is about your own choices… But how do I choose? I’d rather be manipulated a bit. These two options are basically the same to me—either way, it’s a new life!”

As Brian Carter was complaining, the first option turned red and the screen started flashing.

“Hey, hey, hey… I was just saying!” Brian Carter was startled!

This screen suddenly popping up and flashing nonstop was pretty scary. Brian Carter didn’t know what would happen. He hadn’t been scared by transmigration, and even finding a girl in his bed only surprised him a little.

But this “screen” suddenly appearing and flashing in front of his eyes made Brian Carter’s heart race.

Brian Carter didn’t plan to accept it—at least not right away. Wouldn’t it be nice to just be a rich second generation for a while?

At the very least, he needed to study whether this system was dangerous before considering whether to accept it. But just by complaining, it was taken as acceptance!

The screen flashed for a long time…

“Basketball Overlord System initializing…”

A line of text appeared before his eyes.

When he saw this line, Brian Carter’s first reaction was: “The Little Overlord’s Endless Fun?”
