In South Korea, parents actually acknowledge and even encourage their children to have a romantic relationship during middle school. Honestly, if it were a goddess-level girl, someone as beautiful as Tina King, Tina King, or Tina King sending him such a letter, he really would have agreed. But at the very least, he’s had two little beauties around him since he was young, right? You should at least reach that level. However, in this Hanyang University-affiliated middle school, the level of Korean female middle schoolers is truly an embarrassment to Korea.
These love letters not only made Mark King himself annoyed, but also caused the boys at school to worry, afraid that this little celebrity would start a harem at their school. If Mark King didn’t always have a dozen or so little baseball team followers with him, he probably would have already been dragged into an alley and beaten up by the older boys.
Life was so boring and bleak. From the start of school all the way to November, aside from occasionally sparring with the baseball team members he “hated,” he only participated in a cookie commercial. The rest of the time, he just went back to the normal life of a first-year middle school student.
But fortunately, in early November, after Jessica scolded him over the phone, she proudly told him that she would be coming to Seoul on the second weekend of November. She wanted Wood to get ready to welcome her in advance.
Mark King never admitted to being a sis-con, but after hearing Jessica and Crystal’s voices on the phone, he was so excited the next day that he struck John Johnson out three times.
Chapter 9 The Arrival of the Younger Sister and the Return to Daily Life
The waves caused by the movie quickly subsided, and Mark King’s life returned to normal. No one on the street was patting his head anymore. There were still some love letters, after all, even if Mark King wasn’t a child star, he was still a big deal at school—not only were his grades good, but he was also great at baseball, and his looks could be considered one in a thousand. But the number of letters had definitely decreased a lot. It’s worth mentioning that, just as Mark King had guessed, his body had started to develop. In just five months, he had grown three centimeters taller, and some other features were starting to show.
Just like that, the second Saturday of November arrived quickly. Mark King went early with a group of people to Incheon International Airport. Today was the day the The King Couple and the The Johnson Couple returned to settle in Korea, and many close friends and relatives from both families came to the airport to welcome them.
At 10 a.m., as a friendly electronic announcement sounded in the airport’s arrivals area: “Direct flight KE-060 from Los Angeles, USA to Incheon has arrived.” A stream of people poured out from the terminal. Mark King immediately craned his neck to look for familiar faces in the crowd.
“Wood, I’m over here!” It was Jessica, carrying a small backpack, who spotted Wood first.
“Wow, Molly, your teeth have finally all been ruined by sweets. I was wondering when I’d get to see this happen!” Mark King immediately noticed something that interested him.
“Hey, hey, hey, Wood, I heard from Auntie that the movie you acted in is really popular in Korea, right? Are you a celebrity now? Do people ask you for autographs?” Jessica covered her mouth with both hands, but the questions just kept coming.
“Molly, being a celebrity in Korea isn’t that easy.” Mark King saw the four adults in the distance, pulling their luggage and carrying what must have been a sleeping Krystal, slowly walking this way. He turned back to pour cold water on the excited Jessica. But clearly, Jessica didn’t care at all and was still very interested in the topic. Mark King was helpless and had to think of a way to change the subject. He gestured to compare Jessica’s height with his own, then teased, “Molly, five months ago you were only one centimeter shorter than me, but now you’re two centimeters shorter. At our age, this is supposed to be the best time for girls to surpass boys in height, but the gap between us is only getting bigger. Looks like you’ll be shorter than me for your whole life.”
This comment from Mark King completely infuriated Jessica. In fact, she had already started to notice her height problem a few months ago. The kids around her were all shooting up, and although she was growing too, she just couldn’t keep up. Before coming, she had already become the shortest girl in her class. Mark King’s teasing really hit her sore spot. So for the next three days, she completely ignored Mark King.
Of course, Mark King didn’t care at all, since this wasn’t the first time something like this had happened.
Everything in the world was growing in an orderly way. Even without Mark King’s involvement, things still moved forward healthily. After his parents and the The Johnson Couple returned from America, they quickly settled down. They found jobs smoothly; found a house quickly, right in Seongdong District; Jessica transferred schools as planned; and Beck arrived home safely. The only thing Mark King did during this process was to bring Beck home.
But that was fine—things seemed to be back on track, and Mark King’s long-standing daily life was restored.
