“Watch out for the White Phantom!”
Brian Bolton was the first to notice, immediately raising the alloy steel claws of his Wolf Demon mech, shifting his body to block the White Phantom’s path.
The White Phantom was a close-combat assassin-type mech, 4.5 meters tall and weighing 5 tons. Its frame was even slimmer than the Ghoul’s, but its maximum output was extremely high, reaching 947 horsepower, with explosive power that was simply outrageous!
Its stealth ability was also extremely strong—even now, as it revealed itself to attack, it remained semi-transparent. Coupled with its bizarre movement trajectory, it looked from a distance like a ghost drifting through the forest.
Its weapons were two vibrating daggers over a meter long. Whether in terms of mech attributes or weapon strength, it far surpassed Brian Bolton’s Wolf Demon Mark I.
Among players, there was a combat power ranking for all mech models. The White Phantom’s combat power was 9, the peak of the regular tier, while the Wolf Demon’s was 4, a basic mech—even with top-tier weapons equipped, its combat power would only reach 5 at most. In a head-to-head, the Wolf Demon was completely outmatched!
In the eyes of ordinary players, the Wolf Demon couldn’t possibly block the White Phantom; at best, it could only slow it down.
“Wolf Demon, hold him off for me!” Grace the Fox Spirit screamed loudly.
At this critical moment, she finally stopped thinking about the ancient giant pit and only hoped that Brian Bolton could hold off the White Phantom for a bit, giving her time to attack.
“Yaya, be careful!” Earth Guardian shouted, turning to rush to the rescue.
“Awooo~”
The remaining four Ghouls shrieked in unison, crazily lunging at Earth Guardian, immediately entangling his movements.
With a “crunch,” one Ghoul desperately charged forward, swiping its claw and bending the barrel of the Gatling cannon on Earth Guardian’s shoulder.
The Ghoul was then smashed to pieces by Earth Guardian’s shield, but the Gatling cannon also went dead.
Without the suppressive fire of the Gatling, facing the siege of three Ghouls, Earth Guardian had no choice but to adopt a defensive strategy. For the moment, he was unable to break free and assist.
On the other side, the Fox Demon had no time to worry about Earth Guardian. Her mech’s balance was compromised, so she simply sat on the ground, raised her rapid-fire laser gun, and fired wildly at the White Phantom.
“Zzz zzz zzz~” The rapid-fire laser gun’s firing rate was pushed to the max—over 18 shots per second. The air, scorched by the high-energy lasers, was filled with a pungent ionized smell, and waves of searing heat spread out.
“Bang! Bang! Bang!” The surrounding trees were blasted into splinters by the laser gun. Under the intense heat, the wood chips ignited, and for a moment, red embers splattered everywhere.
Two seconds later, Grace the Fox Spirit shrieked, “No good, he’s too fast! I can’t hit him!”
The White Phantom dodged left and right, its movements mysterious and lightning-fast, almost indistinguishable from a real ghost. Its powerful mech burst was on full display.
It hadn’t been hit, nor forced to retreat—in fact, it had even closed the distance a bit.
Very soon, a new crisis emerged.
“No, Big Brother Ethan, my rapid-fire gun is about to run out of energy! I don’t have time to swap the power cell!” Because of the unrestrained barrage, in just ten seconds, the mech’s energy bar turned red, and the system forcibly cut off power to the rapid-fire gun.
Earth Guardian was completely helpless, still entangled by the frenzied Ghouls.
“Yaya, hang in there!” was all he could shout.
With no support, Yaya’s frustration flared up again at Brian Bolton: “It’s all that Wolf Demon loser’s fault! If he had any combat power, it wouldn’t be like this…”
She hadn’t even finished when a power cell flew over to her—it was from Brian Bolton.
“Swap it in!”
At this critical moment, Yaya couldn’t afford to be dissatisfied. She immediately prepared to change the power cell, but soon realized something was wrong: “If I’m changing the power cell, who’s going to hold off the White Phantom?”
Just as this question arose, she heard two nearly simultaneous metallic clangs. Looking up, she saw an unbelievable sight.
Ten meters in front of her, the Wolf Demon had raised both refined steel claws, one for each, and had actually caught both of the White Phantom’s vibrating daggers dead-on.
That loser actually blocked the White Phantom! With the opponent’s speed, how did he manage to do it? And he wasn’t even being overpowered—by the looks of it, they were evenly matched!
Since when could a Wolf Demon without any auxiliary equipment stand up to the White Phantom?
If she hadn’t seen it with her own eyes and someone just told her about it, Grace the Fox Spirit would have scoffed and said, “Brag all you want, it’s not like there’s a tax on it.”
“It must be a fluke, right?” Grace the Fox Spirit swallowed hard, almost forgetting to change the power cell.
The daggers in the White Phantom’s hands, caught by the refined steel wolf claws, immediately activated their high-energy vibration mode.
“Bzz bzz~ bzz bzz~~”
The blades vibrated violently, and in less than half a second, there were two sharp “crack crack” sounds—the high-strength refined steel claws were shaking so hard they began to vibrate intensely as well. At this rate, in just two seconds, the claws would definitely snap.
This was an absolute equipment advantage.
“Let go! You can’t hold him!” Yaya couldn’t help but shout.
But Brian Bolton showed no sign of retreat. In this moment, his eyes saw only the opponent before him; all information irrelevant to the battle was automatically filtered out by his brain.
