Chapter 11

A blazing hot line of fire shot out from the barrel, extending outward and precisely striking the energy core of the ghoul that was leaping in midair!

The ghoul mech was instantly powered down, its body in midair knocked off course by the railgun blast, sent flying sideways. Only then did the arm of the Wolf Demon mech, which had been flung by the recoil, finally come to a stop.

The entire shooting process displayed an extremely pleasing and flawless smoothness.

The powerful confidence and aura revealed in that shot made the heart of the fox demon Grace pound wildly, almost making it hard for her to breathe.

"He actually used a long-range railgun for a close-range attack! He didn't even aim! He hit a high-speed moving ghoul! And he struck the energy core directly! How is this possible?!"

There was no answer—this stunning shot had already deeply shaken her soul!

Because of Grace, Earth Guardian was also watching this side of the battlefield. He hadn't seen Brian Bolton's maneuver against the White Phantom earlier, but he clearly witnessed the entire process of Brian Bolton firing the shot.

As the gunshot echoed, Earth Guardian even forgot to deal with the ghoul beside him, and a distorted shout rang out in the squad channel: "Damn! Mecha god!"

He had played "Hero" for over a year, had seen plenty of experts, and watched many impressive plays, but he had never seen anyone use the basic Wolf Demon I mech to deliver such a perfect, soul-shaking shot!

In that moment, the Wolf Demon mech seemed to possess a soul! In that moment, he seemed to see a battle-hardened veteran rampaging through the smoke of the battlefield!

Unlike the fox demon, he was very clear about how difficult this was to achieve. Such a fast shot, with almost no time to aim, and the Wolf Demon's targeting system was notoriously bad—in other words, the shooter hadn't relied on any assistance from the mech's main AI.

This shot was entirely based on instinct, and yet it hit with perfect accuracy.

"Super expert!" Earth Guardian couldn't find any other words to describe it.

After firing that shot, Brian Bolton himself was a bit surprised, because the result was even more perfect than he had expected. But he quickly figured it out: "In the final battle with Black Rakshasa, my skills broke through once again."

If it had been before, he wouldn't have been one hundred percent confident in hitting the ghoul, but with that shot just now, he realized he could almost achieve total control.

Of course, there were side effects—his body was too weak now, and after two consecutive high-intensity maneuvers, it felt like the tendons in his arms and thighs had suffered slight strains.

But such minor injuries didn't affect Brian Bolton's state at all.

"Watch out for the ghouls!" Brian Bolton's calm reminder sounded in the squad channel, as steady as ever.

Originally, his voice just sounded a bit cold, but now, it was the restraint of a true expert. Earth Guardian shivered, quickly turning to deal with the remaining three ghouls.

The fox demon Grace also snapped out of it and started helping from the side.

The most powerful White Phantom was already finished; the three ghouls were no threat at all and were quickly blown apart.

"Let's go, the base is just ahead. Let's destroy the base," Earth Guardian said excitedly.

"Mm." Brian Bolton responded. By all rights, with things at this stage, the raid mission should already be complete, but he still didn't let his guard down—it was already instinct for him.

The fox demon Grace uncharacteristically said nothing, silently following the team toward the Demon base.

Ten minutes later, with a loud "Ssshh~~ Boom~~~", the small Demon base in the forest was engulfed in a blaze of blue flames.

"Victory!" The system's excited tone read out these two words.

Almost at the same time, Brian Bolton heard a strange voice ring out in his mind: "Mission completed, Rage Points +10"

"Rage Points? What's going on?" Brian Bolton wondered.

Chapter 006: Mutation!

The raid mission was complete, with a total duration of 2 hours and 28 minutes, but the game didn't end immediately. The system was evaluating the performance of the three temporary squad members and calculating the mission rewards.

This usually took about two minutes.

"Hey, expert, add me as a friend?" That was Earth Guardian's pilot, Ethan.

"Demon-Slaying Swordsman, I shouldn't have mocked you. Can you...forgive me?" That was the fox demon Grace.

"Hey, are you there?"

"Answer me, will you?"

……

Because of the strange voice in his mind, Brian Bolton ignored the frantic private messages from his two temporary teammates and directly activated interference-blocking mode, and the world fell silent.

He calmed himself and tried asking in his mind, "Who are you?"

About a second later, a response actually appeared in his mind.

"I am the onboard AI of your Berserker-class Azure Swordsman mech. I traveled back through time and space with you. In the process, I fused with you and underwent some kind of incomprehensible evolution."

Oh~~ this was a bit mysterious, but Brian Bolton wasn't a physicist. Though he found it strange, he quickly accepted it.

He asked again, "So what are Rage Points?"

"Rage Points are a strange kind of spacetime energy. They have two uses: first, to permanently enhance the strength of the pilot's physical body; second, to be used directly, granting the pilot complete immunity from high-load damage. While consuming Rage Points, the pilot can operate any type of mech."
