Chapter 17

"I don't think so!" Brian Carter shook his head and said, "Samuel Scott may be tall and strong, but at the same time, his lower body is also his weakness. If his stance were stable, he would be very powerful. Unfortunately, I see that his footing is unsteady. Jack Reed's kicking skills are excellent—if he focuses on attacking the lower body, Samuel Scott will lose within three moves!"

As Brian Carter spoke, his gaze locked onto the two people in the arena, as if scanning them. In an instant, he had analyzed both of them, with all their strengths and weaknesses laid bare before his eyes.

If it had been before, this would have been impossible. Both Samuel Scott and Jack Reed were more advanced than him in cultivation; even if Samuel Scott's stance was unstable, it was still much better than his own.

But now, all this information surfaced in his mind automatically. He spoke without hesitation, his tone full of certainty. In his mind, he had even simulated a match between the two, and the result was exactly as he had described.

The people nearby also heard him and couldn't help but roll their eyes. Seeing Brian Carter act so pretentious, anyone who didn't know better would think he was some kind of expert. What was that about Samuel Scott's unstable footing? None of them could see any instability in Samuel Scott's stance.

Even Adam Cooper, one of the top three experts in Class Eleven, thought Samuel Scott had a better chance of winning, yet Brian Carter insisted on giving a completely opposite answer. Was he just trying to attract attention?

However, out of respect for Adam Cooper, they didn't say anything unpleasant.

At this moment, the two in the arena had already started fighting.

Right from the start, the fight was extremely intense. Although both were only at the sixth level of the Body Refinement Realm, they were at its peak. Their muscles and bones resonated, and amidst the fierce exchange of blows, you could even hear crackling sounds mixed in with the clash of fists and feet.

Just as Adam Cooper and the others had expected, Samuel Scott's tall and strong build made his punches powerful and heavy. Jack Reed found it hard to take him head-on and quickly fell into a disadvantage.

Soon, Brian Carter sensed a few glances sweeping over from around him, carrying a hint of disdain and mockery that he could feel without even looking.

It was nothing more than: "You guessed wrong, didn't you? Embarrassed now, aren't you? What an idiot!"

If it had been before, Brian Carter would have been extremely angry, but now he just curled his lips, feeling indifferent. These people's words could no longer affect him. But just as everyone thought Jack Reed was about to lose, Jack Reed suddenly changed his strategy and kicked toward Samuel Scott's lower body.

At this moment, Jack Reed's kicking skills were on full display. Although Samuel Scott tried his best to dodge, his body had already started to wobble.

"His footing really is unstable!" Adam Cooper's eyes lit up immediately as he spoke.

At this point, he could clearly see that Samuel Scott's stance was indeed unsteady. He glanced at Brian Carter again, only to see Brian Carter looking calm and composed, which made him a bit suspicious. How did he see it? Was it just a lucky guess, or did he really know?

When Jack Reed delivered a second kick, everyone could see that Samuel Scott's unstable footing was now obvious—his body was swaying and almost about to fall.

And Jack Reed clearly wasn't going to let this opportunity slip by. With a third kick, the tall and strong Samuel Scott was knocked to the ground and lost.

At this moment, when the place should have been at its noisiest, it instead fell completely silent. Everyone turned to look at Brian Carter, because no one had expected that Brian Carter would actually be right.

Chapter 9: Defeated in One Move

Originally, when they saw Samuel Scott gaining the upper hand, they thought they'd get to see Brian Carter embarrassed and proven wrong.

But unexpectedly, it was they themselves who ended up embarrassed and proven wrong.

Of course, many people wouldn't admit it. "I never bet on Samuel Scott winning anyway. I always thought Jack Reed would win."

Only Adam Cooper didn't care at all about having misjudged the situation. He quickly asked, "Brian, how did you know Jack Reed would win? I honestly didn't notice anything wrong with Samuel Scott's footing before!"

Many others also turned their attention to him, pricking up their ears. They actually wanted to hear the reason too. Ideally, it would turn out that Brian Carter just got lucky, otherwise, if everyone else guessed wrong and only he got it right, that would be pretty awkward.

Brian Carter suddenly noticed that, across the circle, was Olivia Turner. Even her bright, sparkling eyes were fixed on him, with a hint of curiosity, as if she also wanted to know the answer.

And diagonally across from him, another prominent figure in the class, David Morgan, was watching with a somewhat unfriendly expression. Although he quickly hid it, Brian Carter still keenly noticed.

Brian Carter paused for a moment, then said, "Samuel Scott's footing wasn't actually that unstable. It's just that Jack Reed happens to be skilled at kicking, so that's why I said what I did!"

Everyone looked as if they suddenly understood, but somehow it still sounded like he just got lucky and happened to notice that detail. If they had noticed it earlier, this guy wouldn't have had the chance to steal the spotlight.
